Daniel Wellington watches are a playful take on the traditional British timepiece, with a variety of customisable options and a sense of timeliness and prestige that really plays to the range’s strengths. Crafted and designed by Filip Tysander, the Daniel Wellington range of watches is inspired by one man, a real person that Tysander met on his travels. Daniel Wellington is a man from the British Isles and, according to the official website, “gentlemanly but… unpretentious” who happened to wear a variety of watches all made with the famous ‘NATO’ strap. The interesting thing about the NATO strap is, as the name suggests, it was originally used for military purposes and was particularly important for the British armed forces. In Daniel Wellington’s case, it was a means of having a lightweight strap that was incredibly resistant to dirt and water damage, while keeping the beautiful watch dial secure and as attractive as ever. Tysander decided to keep this tradition alive and, as a result, he produced a set of watches that exuded charm and character while remaining as versatile and customisable as any NATO strap watch. For Tysander, that was the British way and his good friend Mr. Wellington managed to show this effortlessly and efficiently, with Tysander customising a variety of watches named after cities and towns in the United Kingdom. Available in both leather and NATO straps, Daniel Wellington watches prove to be both beautiful and functional, with some stunning variations for both men and women.
