In 1989, watch making veteran, Barry Cohen came across a Swiss self-powered illumination system and knew that it would make watches more visible and easier to read in low or no light situations. In the following 20 years, Luminox have been involved in watch production for the Navy Seals, U.S. Air Force Stealth Pilots, SWAT teams, Police and rescue organizations and many more! Their incredible illumination system ensures at-a-glance visibility – in fact, the technology in Luminox watches provide a constant glow 24/7, no matter what the conditions are, for up to 25 years. Most other watches use luminescent paint that has to be charged by a light source and fades very quickly, or a “push to light” system, where you push a button for battery-driven illumination. Luminox's technology was previously reserved for the military, but with a demand for this in the market, it was only a matter of time before it was made available to the public. Luminox understand that not everyone will be pushing their watches to the kind of extremes that the armed forces might, which is why their Swiss movement ensures punctual and efficient timekeeping, no matter what you do with it!
