Kenneth Cole established himself in the fashion industry in the late 1980’s and primarily made his mark selling a line of shoes.

However, parking permission was only awarded to production companies shooting films. Cole overcame this by renaming his company Kenneth Cole Productions, and applied for a permit to shoot the film ‘The Birth of a Shoe Company’ in downtown Manhattan.

Presenting himself as a filmmaker, Kenneth Cole went on to sell the full quantity of 40,000 pairs of shoes in just 2 days. This huge success from the outset allowed Kenneth Cole Productions to quickly expand its product lines to include designer clothing, handbags, perfumes, accessories and the collection of Kenneth Cole watches.
