No accessory says action man quite like a Welder watch. Tough, mean-looking and chunky to boot, a Welder wristwatch is an imposing piece of kit. It’s also pretty darn impressive too, for, behind the mean exterior is the finest Italian craftsmanship.
Welder was launched in 2007 by Italo Fontana of the Fontana family, who were famed for making watches for the Italian Navy’s U-boat Officers during the Second World War. Fontana’s watch-making heritage combined with the use of the very best Italian materials and his aggressive approach to design, has made this brand really stand out in today’s saturated market. Skagen is a Danish brand founded by husband and wife team Charlotte and Henrik Jorst. It takes it’s name from a small fishing village in North Denmark called Skagen, where fishermen and artists have flocked for years to ply their trade and admire the natural rugged beauty of the coast line. The company designs high-end accessories, watches, sunglasses, and jewellery, inspired by the landscape and natural materials of Skagen and its native Scandinavia.
Skagen watches is one of the newest brands to join the Shade Station fold and their sleek, unfussy designs are proving very popular. Having recently won a international design award for their Skagen Denmark 809 series men’s multifunction sport watch, it seems the experts have also recognised the quality of the Skagen portfolio. Like most Scandinavian products, Skagen produce watches that are practical, simple and fluid. The aesthetics are very important to Skagen and the brand identity is strong throughout the collection. A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Shade Station Summer Photoshoot!
Here at Shade Station, we’re already preparing for the summer season and recently held an exciting photoshoot showcasing an array of some of the hottest sunglasses and watches that are either available to buy now or will be in stock over the next month. The photos will be up on the site soon, but we thought we’d show you a sneak peek at some of the images and the designs to look forward to this summer!
We had two models who did a superb job of making our sunglasses and watches look effortlessly stylish! First we had Marcus, who aside from being a model is also in the band The Council, and Erica who beautifully modelled a wide selection of looks ranging from Hollywood glamour inspired to boho chic.
The brands appearing in the shoot included Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, Prada, Gucci, Adidas, Diesel, DKNY and Chanel to name only a few and the creative themes we selected were perfect to represent a cool and laid-back summer vibe!
The key sunglass styles to look out for this season definitely include oversized designs (for both men and women) as seen within the Tom Ford, BVLGARI, Dior and Oliver Peoples collections, sporty, as demonstrated in the Carrera, Dragon and Oakley ranges and colourful and retro – including Ray-Ban, Jee Vice, Pucci and Marc by Marc Jacobs. For watches, you still can’t go wrong with glitzy and glamorous using Guess watches and Juicy Couture watches as the perfect 
examples, and also for the ladies, androgynous watches are a hot look, as seen in the collection of Fossil watches.
