So New York Fashion Week passed in a blaze and we’re now thoroughly ensconced within our own fashion moment, as London Fashion Week plays host to fashionistas from around the globe. Whilst London is known for showcasing fresh talent and obscure designers, New York cosies up with the big guns, including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and DKNY. The latter, created by Donna Karan, takes its name from the city itself and the brand draws inspiration from the people, architecture, culture and vibe of the Big Apple.
DKNY is known for being feminine, youthful and sassy and the New York show didn’t disappoint. Embracing both the floral trend and fashion’s current flirtation with sharp shoulders, the models took to the runway in silk playsuits, flirty dresses, cropped trousers and cuffed shorts in an explosion of peonies, sequins and hot colours.
Just like their fabulous bi-annual collections, DKNY design pretty, classic, sparkly, elegant watches to be worn by women with an eye for fashion and good taste. Whether embellished with diamante, imprinted with the DKNY logo, worn with a linked bracelet, a bangle strap or chunky and proud, DKNY watches will ensure your arm is perfectly accessorised whatever the season.

Tags:LTD watches are quickly infiltrating the celebrity world and it’s no surprise. With this season’s obsession with bright colours, you’d be hard pushed to find a more on-trend watch brand. The novel ‘limited’ concept behind the label ensures wristwear designs always remain original and more importantly, always in vogue. As few as 50 watches are produced in each design, which means current seasonal trends are always reflected in the LTD watches portfolio.
As reported a few weeks ago, many stars performing at T4 on the Beach were spotted toting some LTD watch action, including new girlband The Saturdays, Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris. Check out Rochelle and Vanessa ‘Saturday’ showing off their LTD watches. The turqoise blue watch looks amazing against Rochelle’s skin and really accessorises her outfit to perfection.
Other slightly less glamorous fans of the brand include Leigh Francis’s alter-ego Keith Lemon, seen here sporting a purple LTD watch which adds a summery look to his shiny ‘pleather’ jacket and sun-kissed locks!
At Shade Station we frequently get our paws on new LTD stock, which we love to share with you! To add to the new violet and red LTD watches, we have the super fabulous, limited edition white crystal (polycarbonate) encrusted ‘LTD watch 010101′ and for tougher watch fans, a jewel encrusted skull design on white or back – ‘LTD Watch 010104′.
There’s so much to choose from and now is the time to really embrace the colour craze as we enjoy the last of the summer and before autumn’s subdued palette takes over.

Tags:Every fashionista knows how to work the ‘boyfriend look’ this season. Creating a feminine silhouette with menswear is a massive trend and certainly not one to be overlooked. From low slung ‘boyfriend jeans’ and tailored over-sized jackets with the sleeves casually rolled up, to quiffs and brogues – rummaging through your boyfriend’s wardrobe is the easiest way to nail this summer’s laziest trend. But once you’ve liberated his jeans and teased your hair into a style Elvis would be proud of, why stop there? Swipe his watch too to complete the ‘look’!
You’re in luck if your other half has a penchant for flashy, geeky, space age looking watches. Particularly if it’s a Tokyo Flash watch. With flashing LEDs, unique displays and ‘space invader’ inspired designs these cutting edge timepieces are the ultimate way to accessorise your new look. The brains behind Tokyo Flash like to challenge the wearer somewhat, so before you take his watch without permission it may be wise to ask him exactly how you read it! Tokyo Flash wristwear embodies the advance of technology and innovation within interpretation of time, so throw any thoughts of traditional time telling out the window.
Once you’ve mastered the art of reading a Tokyo Flash watch, slap it on your wrist and consider yourself fully accessorised and totally ready to rock the ‘boyfriend look’. After all why should boys have all the fun?

For your fashionable summer wristwear look no further than Adidas and their new Oddity Candy range. The equivalent to Lancôme’s Juicy Tube Lipgloss for lips these brightly coloured watches will arm you with perfect digital timing and the necessary pop of colour on your wrist to embrace this season’s trend.
“But I don’t ‘do’ sport!”
Yes, that may be the case but we bet you still wear Adidas shell toes to the pub and have worn an adidas tracksuit or hooded top to the supermarket at some point. Adidas is of course the premier sports label, however it is also a lifestyle label. Stella McCartney and Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto both know this, as does glossy magazine, Instyle, which featured the Adidas wrist-candy in last months issue. The point is; Adidas Oddity Candy watches are both functional and superbly fashionable.
With a rainbow selection of hues, the Oddity Candy range has colours to suit all tastes, from turquoise and dusky red to green and baby pink. For those with more traditional tastes, white and black are available and those who embrace colour will love the Adidas Oddity Candy watch in ‘vibrant orange’, which is exclusive to Shade Station.
For all your pursuits this summer, colour is a must and the easiest way to wear it, is a burst of Oddity Candy on your wrist!

Black Dice has developed a cult following within the urban community and celebrities are trail-blazing the way. Straddling the gap between music, design and urban living, it was only right that a company such as Black Dice ‘represented’ at the 2008 MOBO awards, the industry’s celebration of music of black origin. Celebrities and musicians clamoured to get their hands on Black Dice’s contemporary watch pieces and those seen leaving the party flashing their wrist swashbuckle included Aleesha Dixon, Pop Idol’s JLS, Radio One DJ Reggie Yates, Sinitta and Mica Paris.
Black Dice is a homegrown affair, developed, born and launched in London in the summer of 2006. Guiseppe Zuccarello, the brains behind the operation, created the company after noticing a gaping hole in the market for a streetwear led watch design rather than sports and high fashion influenced designs. And so Black Dice was born. The company pride themselves on using only the highest quality materials and presentation and design are unrivalled. There are no cosmetic or gimmicky design elements to dazzle the wearer, every feature on every watch has a purpose and a motive, no aspect is unintentional. All models come with the highest quality Miyota movements and are encased in stainless steel with a water resistance of 50 metres.
Black Dice design for both sexes and the range is extraordinary. The men’s collection is extensive and although the majority of pieces are meaty, there’s oodles of style throughout. Watch faces come in every size and shape and straps range from, rubber and ceramic to stainless steel and leather. Colour choice is rather classic, however there are flashes of gold for those who crave a little bling. The Women’s range is slightly less diverse, but no less interesting. Reflecting urban cool, these pieces are not for the timid with most erring on the feminine side of chunky.

Tags:Autumn is fast approaching, bringing with it the inevitable new season’s trends. The trends for Autumn/ Winter 08 are excitingly diverse, with structure, fabric and prints being the key defining characteristics. Accessories play a big part in A/W 08, get them right and you’re halfway there.
A practical but important accessory that can either make or break an outfit is the watch you choose to wear. Imagine the scenario – you’re dressed up to the nines heading out to a sophisticated ball. Every Cinderella needs to know when it’s that time of the evening to leave, so off you go in a little black dress, killer heels and fabulous accessories, finished off with your everyday well-worn watch… Not a good look! If you’re style savvy you’ll be the proud owner of a good selection of watches suitable for every occasion.
Buying a watch is as personal as buying perfume as everybody has their own taste, whether you prefer chunky to dainty, bling to leather, classic or trendy. Shade Station has a fabulous selection of watches and brands, so here’s a quick low down to guide you in choosing that perfect watch for A/W 08.
Black is Back
It’s a fashion cliché but there’s no escaping it this season – black is the new black! Autumn/ Winter 08 has an underlying dark romantic mood with a focus on black-on-black texture as sultry ladylike fabrics such as lace, ruffled tulle and sheer chiffon fuse with shiny patent, tough pvc and shimmering satin, killer heels and statement accessories. A classic black watch is a watch that can be worn anywhere anytime – fashion’s practical answer for stylish wrist wear making it the perfect investment for the forthcoming season.
Plastic Fantastic
With a backlash to S/S 08’s feminity, fashion’s fascination with all things hard and edgy doesn’t end there as goth and grunge goes glamorous for A/W 08. Patent, plastic, leather and rubber are key to this trend, whilst one of the season’s hottest prints – plaid – rebels against the darkness to bring that all important colourful punk influence to the theme.
Shade Station has some great transitional pieces to take you from summer to autumn, day to evening in style. (£60) – fashion’s practical answer for stylish winter cosiness.
When it comes to accessories, we’re talking robust! Think black leather and patent overloaded with studs, zips and buckles and chunky ankle length boots. Embrace your inner rock chick and toughen up any outfit with a chunky black leather watch. Gold and leopard print is also a must. This is fashion with serious attitude!
Party Pieces
But of course this is the season to party – and never before have we seen such a multitude of bold brights and jewel colours, high-shine embellishments, interesting structures and luxurious fabrics sashay down the catwalk. On the opposite end of the structure spectrum were clean lines and figure-hugging shapes, loosened with ruffling and gathered details. Opulent is the key statement to sum up evening wear for A/W08.
This is where the calling for bling comes in! We’re talking watches embellished with diamantes, chunky gems and shiny shiny metals – the perfect complement for an evening dress or a statement accessory when teamed with a more casual outfit.
Global Traveller
S/S 08 1970’s global traveller vibe brought us the freedom of loose tunic tops, flares and ethnic prints – a theme that continues through A/W 08 to bring the 1970’s bohemian spirit up-to-date for the noughties with a combination of vintage plaid, flared jeans, faux fur overload, dirndl skirts, bohemian accessories and rich exotic prints influenced by eclectic culture combinations.
As always when it comes to the boho look layering clothes is fundamental, so keep your wrist wear basic. Natural colours, brown leathers and interesting cut out details create the perfect finishing piece.
