June 2010 has been uncharacteristically hot. Glastonbury this year was a scorcher, as was the Isle of Wight Festival and for the first time in years Wimbledon has enjoyed blazing heat and no interruption to play. All this sunshine makes for great celebrity sunglasses spotting!
Glastonbury had the usual mix of celebrities enjoying the hot weather and oozing festival cool. Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are still incredibly popular, with the likes of designer Henry Holland, T4 presenter Jameela Jamil and actresses Kate Hudson and Emma Watson all seen wearing them. Sting’s daughter Coco Sumner of ‘I blame Coco’ took to the stage in her Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses and Zoe Ball rocked the Ray Ban Aviator style. Flame-haired singer Kate Nash threw a curve ball and opted for Diesel Sunglasses in a similar style to the Wayfarer. This being the year of vintage sunglasses, it was unsurprising that celebs like Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, Marina and the Diamonds and Le Roux’s Elly Jackson were all seen sporting this unique style.
Off court Wimbledon has been more of dignified affair this year. With a rare visit from the Queen and an audience of sports stars including cricketer Brian Lara, Cyclist Chris Hoy and ex-England footballer Bobby Robson, we’ve had to look at the WAGs and the odd celeb for contemporary sunglasses style. Man of the moment, Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears is never at Wimbledon without her trusty Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. Actor Ben Stiller was also spotted in the stands wearing his Ray Ban Aviators, as was comedienne Jennifer Saunders in Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses. Slightly unusual Wimbledon sightings also included US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour in her unsual oversized black sunglasses framed by her sharp bob and whacky star Grace Jones, wearing white framed vintage looking sunglasses.
To emulate star style Shade Station have all the sunglasses you could possibly require! From the ever popular Ray Ban sunglasses, to oversized frames by designers such as Prada, Gucci, Pucci and Chanel. You can also indulge in some vintage action with our achingly cool range of Vintage sunglasses including styles from Dior, Ferre and La Croix.

Tom Ford Sunglasses – Sophisticated & Luxurious Style at its Best!
Tom Ford sunglasses are one of the most stylishly superior in the eyewear and fashion industry. Created for men and women who appreciate the sense of bold, luxurious and unique design, the sunglasses remain sophisticated and chic whilst also being statement enough to allow the wearer to convey their own personality and stand out in the crowd.
Fashion is of course, ever evolving and whilst there will always be an ‘it’ style of accessory, be it a handbag, watch or a particular pair of sunglasses, the majority of people want an item that serves longevity and won’t be considered a ‘not’ accessory in six month’s time. When people invest in a pair of sunglasses they want something that is unique to them and would probably prefer to be the only person wearing them as opposed to wearing the same style as every other person just for the sake of that design being ‘in fashion’. This is where Tom Ford shines as a designer – his creations are instantly recognisable with the use of innovative and bold shapes, colour tones and expressive styles which has mad
e the Tom Ford brand and thus his collection of sunglasses, a timeless trend all of their own. Tom Ford is synonymous with sophistication and the range of Tom Ford sunglasses perfectly captures this style trait.
There are a couple of new styles for summer in the Tom Ford sunglasses collection; the first of which is the slick and streamlined Marco sunglasses. A simple aviator design that looks equally great on men and women, these sunglasses feature a pale gold slim frame, black ear socks and graduated olive lenses. The use of soft colours adds to the versatility of this style – aviators are one of the most popular styles of sunglasses around and never fail to look incredibly stylish with literally any outfit. The Tom Ford Marco design is ultra sleek and will look equally as good in five years time as it does today.
A further new addition to the collection is one for the ladies; the Callae Tom Ford sunglasses. Again, the detailing is minimal but the design is striking and statement with a thick brown frame with rounded edges and brown arms which curve at the ear stems. This style is oversized with the graduated brown lenses more of an egg-shape than fully rounded. The perfec
t pair of sunglasses for achieving effortless glamour that is striking without looking too overstated.
An example of Tom Ford at his most bold and creative is demonstrated in the Nico sunglasses (as seen in the main image). Not for the shy girls, these shades show you mean business, portray a confident sense of style and that you are more likely a fashion innovator than a follower! With a thick, defined and almost triangular frame that boasts sharp angles, the Nico sunglasses have a futuristic appeal and due to their distinctive aesthetic, will continue to look amazing season after season.
As Tom Ford is such a highly skilled and creative designer and is also a strong and vibrant personality who is very much the ‘face’ of his brand, a huge number of celebrities are fans of the brand and are often spotted wearing his sunglasses. Audrina Partridge, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Kate Moss and Denise Richards are just a handful of stylish individuals who are regularly papped wearing a pair with actress and singer Demi Lovato also loving the bold Nico frames! All Tom Ford sunglasses are hand crafted in Italy and ensure superb quality along with a stunning style that represents elegance, charisma and an assured and confident approach to fashion.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers – The Choice of the Style Icons
Despite being founded back in 1937, the Ray-Ban brand today in 2010 is stronger than ever! Every year Ray-Ban usually reveals a new and exciting style or a revamped version of an iconic style, so we are always waiting in anticipation to see what’s coming next!
Last year when retro style was a huge key trend, the old-school colour inspired Ray-Ban Clubmasters were one of the hottest designs to be seen wearing. Still a favourite that has continued through to summer 2010, the Clubmaster is an incredibly popular style and we predict that the forthcoming music festivals will definitely see the colourful and classic Clubmasters once again, in all their glory!
There is also a Ray-Ban d
esign that all the style icons, celebrities and anyone who knows a thing or two about fashion are constantly seen wearing – the Ray-Ban Wayfarer. Kate Moss, Nicole Ritchie, Lauren Conrad, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have all been seen sporting their classic and colourful Wayfarers (with Robert wearing them on-screen in Twilight as well as off-screen!) and the design just seems to flatter every face shape, providing your finished look with that sense of star quality.
It’s probably fair to say that the Ray-Ban Wayfarer has become a defining fashion item of this era and is likely a staple in many of our wardrobes or at least one that is high up on our wish list! The flattering shape that looks great on men and women is synonymous with only the coolest movers and shakers in the fashion and celebrity industry, yet also looks effortlessly stylish on us ‘normal’ folk who love the opportunity to get a piece of what our face celeb is wearing – and be able to wear it according to our own style and still look great. Ray-Ban sunglasses are accessible to everyone yet still possess sought after status due to the brand’s significant history and the superior quality of each
pair, meaning that you really do get more than what you pay for.
Colour and the concept of mixing patterns and prints is a huge look for summer 2010 in clothing and accessories, therefore the Wayfarer has adapted accordingly to suit this trend. The acetate, slightly masculine and bold shape remains exactly the same but vibrant colours and patterns on the main frame and/or the frame interior have being added with the result being a contemporary, fresh and trendy collection with that flawless classic edge that has highly contributed to the overall success of Ray-Ban. From desert camouflage Wayfarers to pastel multi coloured crystal Wayfarers and even bright sunshine yellow Wayfarers, make sure you check out the latest collection to see which creative design catches your eye – each and every pair will make you look instantly stylish in an effortlessly ‘thrown together’ way, and the use of colour and pattern in the new Wayfarers is a great way of adding some vibrancy to your summer style!
Tags:LTD Watches – A Hot Favourite!
On Saturday, despite the raging sunshine, fashion prevailed and we took the opportunity to head out to Earl’s Court in London to the Clothes Show event which saw a number of designer brands and boutiques on show in addition to designers and stylists providing their fashion pearls of wisdom.
The event also involved a Fashion Show in the main theatre which used the theme of fashion inspired by countries including France, Italy, USA and England and presented this with a fusion of music, a dance troupe and models which really made it more
of an all-round performance as opposed to just a catwalk show. The show was full of energy, fantastic choreography and amazing outfits – all accessorised of course with sunglasses, watches and jewellery in some of the hot styles of the moment!
We were very pleased to see an array of our brands exhibiting their products including Ray-Ban, Zodiac, Fossil, Diesel, Superdry, Adidas, Guess and LTD Watches. The Ray-Ban Wayfarers were definitely a hit with the eager style spotters – particularly the new and revamped colourful versions. Guess watches and Guess jewellery were also proving incredibly popular. The watch look that all the fashionistas are sporting this season are white or light toned chunky watches – polycarbonate bracelet straps are a key look and especially with glitzy diamante embellishments to add that bit of sparkle to a casual yet statement watch! Check out this Guess Prism watch which is the perfect choice to
capture the desired look!
I could hardly get a glimpse at the LTD Watch stand which is testament to how popular these strictly limited watches are. LTD Watches are highly trend inspired and the particular model that definitely seems to be a must-have this summer is the Maximo LTD Watch; available in a variety of vibrant colours and boasting a sleek yet chunky aesthetic. The Maximo watches were selling fast so make sure you check out the range here and get yours before they all go!

All of the brands mentioned above are available here at Shade Station so make sure you take a look to see what ultra fashionable designs we have, and make this summer your most stylish one yet!

Ray Ban sunglasses
If you’re not in Ray Ban sunglasses this summer you may find yourself in the minority… The Ray Ban craze shows no signs of abating – quite the contrary in fact as they’ve already updated their tasty portfolio of shades this year.
At the beginning of 2010 Ray Ban introduced their ‘Rare Prints’ range of Wayfarer sunglasses – a twist on the original block shades, with subway designs, floral motifs and stripes. In addition to some snazzy prints, Ray Ban have released the Wayfarer II, an update on the Wayfarer style with two tone coloured frame and arms. The summer is the perfect time to add more colour to your palette and Ray Ban make it super easy, as so many of their Wayfarer designs are colourtastic! Just pop a pair on and you’ve nailed a couple of trends in one go!
Most young celebrities acknowledge the style power of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and some are die-hard fans. Stylish men and women who wear Wayfarers include; Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, Dominic Cooper and Robert Pattinson.
Continuing with the colour theme and also picking up on our love for oversized shades, Ray Ban’s Cats 1000 are a great pair of sunglasses to cover your peepers this summer. With acetate frames, massive lenses and a retro style, the Cats 1000 come in a range of bright colours including acid pink and yellow, tortoiseshell and two tone.
Another hit this summer for Ray Ban has been their sunglasses style RB4141. A little like a re-worked Club Master, but with Wayfarer arms, these shades have smaller round lenses and smack of Sixties vintage with a new age twist. Worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Pixie Geldof, the perfectly round lenses are a huge trend this season.
And finally we couldn’t leave without mentioning our love of Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. The original and still the best – these beauties were designed for pilots back in the day and now adorn everyone from Cheryl Cole, Kylie, Tom Cruise and David Beckham. Loved by all and sympathetic to most face shapes, Aviators are the classic stylish option to some of Ray Ban’s wackier styles.

Summer is officially here, the sun is shining and we couldn’t be happier! With the warmer months comes the usual smorgasbord of amazing festivals to get your hedonistic thrills at. Whether you enjoy moshing at ‘Download’, country pursuits at ‘The Green Man’, teenage kicks at ‘V Festival’, fancy dress at ‘Bestival’, glamour at newbie ‘Vintage at Goodwood’ or the mystic of ‘Glastonbury’, you must ensure you’re dressed for the occasion.
Festivals, fashionable summer gear and cool sunglasses all go hand in hand. Maybe it’s the influence of Gaga or perhaps Dita Von Teese, but this summer is all about kooky and vintage. With styles from the Fifties and Sixties making a comeback, we predict this year’s festivals to be awash with vintage shaped sunglasses in a cat’s eye style or small round frames, oversized sunglasses in reds, greens and brown and retro-looking shades.
The festival season kicked off with April’s Coachella Festival in California, where a host of celebrities dazzled with their fashionable threads and on-trend sunglasses. Kelly Osborne was spotted wearing small round framed lilac sunglasses, Katy Perry went retro in angular black frames with a bold white stripe across the top, Dita Von Teese personified Fifties elegance in oversized brown sunglasses with graduated lenses and Kate Bosworth dressed to impress in classic Ray Ban Aviators.
Aviators and Wayfarers from Ray Ban transcend fashion and will always be popular and current. For classic sunglasses you can’t go wrong with either of these styles for festival frolicking. The same goes for oversized glam shades. Designers like Gucci, Bvlgari, Versace, D&G, MDG Sunglasses, Chanel and Pucci all have great sunglasses for summer goddess style. On the other hand if you’re a seasonal type of girl with a desire to look fabulous and ‘now’ – take a leaf from Kelly O’s book and opt for small round shades. This style was all over the spring / summer catwalks and looks great in pastel coloured frames teamed with a floral frock or playsuit. Or you may want to play the vintage diva with cats eye shaped sunglasses – again a strong trend on the catwalk this year. Look to brands like Prada and Marc Jacobs to achieve this look.
We’ve got our Big Chill tickets and our festival sunnies sorted. Now it’s just a case of praying for sunshine! Here’s hoping….

Polise Sunglasses Style
Police is the brand famed for courting some of Hollywood’s leading men. Bruce Willis, George Clooney and Antonio Banderas have all leant their names and good looks to the Police label. But it is Britain’s own king of cool David Beckham, that really catapulted the brand into the main stream fashion retail arena in the mid Noughties.
Police are slowly becoming a real lifestyle brand – as well as selling clothes, watches, accessories and sunglasses, they have begun selling prescription glasses, jewellery and scents. However it is their sunglasses that we are really interested in… and celebrities seem to agree. Beckham is often seen wearing Police shades and R&B singer Ne-Yo is also partial to Police sunglasses if his appearance at Cannes last year is anything to go by!
Shade Station sell a wide range of Police Sunglasses – from classic aviators to sporty wraparounds. To give you a little helping hand we thought we’d highlight a few of the hottest styles to wear this summer;
Summer wouldn’t be summer without a stylish pair of aviators. Police do the perfect pair in style S8333. Aviators need little introduction, they suit anyone and everyone and will always be fashionable. We say, if in doubt, always opt for aviators!
Police do retro too; you only have to look at style S1626 to know this. An oversized pair of Police sunglasses in tortoiseshell or black with plastic frames and graduated lenses, these funky shades will go down a treat in the park or whooping it up at a festival.
Style S8225 are slightly more reserved and subtle than the previous sunglasses, but will suit sporty men down to the ground. With a sleek style, thin metal frames and a jazzy triple striped arm, these sunnies will definitely keep you looking cool this summer.
Most Police sunglasses are unisex and designed with the fashionable, yet slightly erring on classic, in mind. If this sounds like you, then make sure you check out the latest range of Police sunglasses at Shade Station in time for the hot weather coming our way. (Fingers crossed!)
