Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses – Shade Station
We all know that Oakley is famous for its sponsorship of world class athletes which also helps the brand establish what the sports industry requires from its products. We can now share that one of these athletes has used his style creativity to help design a unique pair of Oakley sunglasses!
Gold medal winner Shaun White is what can be described as a bit of a rocker in the world of snowboarding and has been a core athlete within the Oakley brand for over ten years – also known for his love of street fashion. Transcending his skills on the slopes to the design board, Oakley has teamed up with Shaun and the result is a new pair of incredibly cool Oakley sunglasses called Holbrook.
Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses Designed By Shuan White
In designing the new Holbrook sunglasses, Shaun (pictured) took inspiration from his passion for iconic male film legends of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s and wanted to capture the essence of American cool and how everyday men rebelled against conformity and inspired the younger generation. The Holbrook sunglasses are his visualisation of that theme and are named after a small town on Route 66 which is notorious of being a town where both grit and glory take place on the wide open road.
In terms of style, the Oakley Holbrook sunglasses boast the classic retro look that Shaun wanted to achieve, with thick frames, arms which begin from the top of the frame and large, defined lenses. In true Oakley style, the sunglasses perfectly combine that vintage appeal with contemporary and innovative technologies!
The Holbrook sunglasses feature a stress-resistant frame made of the signature Oakley lightweight synthetic O Matter and are aesthetically emphasised with metal bolts at the top corners of the frames to add to the ‘gritty’ style. The lenses incorporate the unique Oakley High Definition Optics (HDO) with pure Plutonite lenses that filter out 100% of all UV light (not just UVA and UVB). All of these advanced technologies ensure optical precision, impact resistance and maximum eye protection.
In a range of different colours (frames and lenses) to choose from, the new Oakley Holbrook sunglasses look incredibly stylish, successfully portraying the theme that Shaun wanted to capture and are a completely unique model within the Oakley sunglasses collection. The product of an amazing Oakley/Athlete collaboration!

It’s common knowledge that Oakley rule the mountains, seas and fresh water when it comes to protective eyewear. With 30 years of sports accessory innovation and design, Oakley are undoubtedly the masters of their game.
With the ski season upon us and the first signs of snowfall in the UK uniting the nation, it’s time to gear up for the big freeze! If you’re planning a ski trip abroad this winter it’s essential that you hit the slopes with the right kit. Boards and ski apparatus can be hired at the resort but it’s important that you pack good quality, practical ski wear and DO NOT forget your eyewear!
Your eyes are very sensitive to bright light and the light is particularly dazzling on the mountains, as it reflects off the snow. Although sunglasses designed for sport do the job admirably, goggles will really give your eyes the protection they need. Oakley googles are designed using 3D Cranial Geometry, ensuring a snug fit, and layered with a triple layer of foam, making for a comfortable ride. With polarised lenses, protecting against glare and reinforced materials to offer protection on impact, Oakley goggles are guaranteed to make you feel safer as you tackle those hairy mountain runs!
It’s not unusual to see the A-list enjoying the mountain air and they all know that protective eyewear shields against the glare of the sun and the prying eyes of the public! Younger Hollywood stars, particularly the likes of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are often seen wearing both snowboard helmets and googles for ultimate winter sports protection. Not only are Oakley googles practical, they also improve your clarity of vision on the slopes and lend you an air of professionalism.
Tags:The Animal brand was founded in 1987 by two surfers who had become increasingly frustrated at losing their watches whilst surfing or taking part in various other water sport activities. No watch seemed durable or robust enough to endure the impact of water and so the two surfers got to work on designing a strap made from webbing and Velcro to try and solve this problem.
Working in a small bedroom in one of their houses, the surfers produced enough straps to sell to their friends who were also surf and water sport enthusiasts. They wanted to make sure the product was completely effective and so the straps were tested by a number of people in a number of sports before progressing with the project. The watch straps were a big hit however and the designers used the profits to fund trips to Australia and Hawaii whereby they sold more of the straps to a larger group of people and discovered a more extensive market. What made the strap innovative and popular was the simplicity of its design in relation to how effective it was.
Realising the potential of their product, the designers decided to extend and adapt the product to the snowboarding, skating and mountain biking market and the Animal brand was officially born.
The Animal brand also gets involved with sports events and sponsors riders in many core sectors such as surfing, snowboarding, windsurfing, mountain biking and kite surfing. Each product is tried and tested by pro riders from each different sport to ensure that it provides maximum endurance and durability in even the most extreme conditions. This November, Animal will also be hosting and supporting the Animal Newquay Open which is a major surfing championships competition and is the last stop on the UK Pro Surf tour. As a result of the brand getting involved in the action and having experts in each sports field, this of course allows the products to be designed acording to the needs of the professional.
Animal is largely popular for its range of watches and incorporates the same original watch strap into the design. The designs of Animal watches are representative of the snow, skate and surf scene with bold vibrant colours and patterns. Aimed at free sports enthusiasts, the watches are fully water resistant and look incredibly striking and funky on the wrist. There is a watch designed for each specific sport but the styles are adaptable and also look great for everyday wear. There are also versions for males and females. With a chunky aesthetic, patterned dials and some watches incorporating the layered look on the strap, these watches are fashion forward but have a unique sporty style that immediately stands out from the crowd.
Animal watches are certainly built to go the distance and with trial and testing a major part of the design process, you can be sure that your Animal watch will be the ultimate expert whatever you extreme sport preference.
