Skagen Watches

Skagen watches are a delicacy dished up from Denmark and Shade Station are very excited to have such serene designs gracing our pages. The brand is named after a much touted area of natural beauty on the North coast of Denmark, which has been popular with artists and tourists for centuries. The rugged landscape and the light are particular draws – the local tourist board have said, ”We have more sunshine than anywhere else in Denmark and it never rains for very long. The Danes like to come here to celebrate the light.”

Skagen watches comprise of five different collections;

Fashionistas sit up and take note! Those in the know have made their style predictions for the year ahead and it’s looking like another vintage inspired annum…

The following trends are going to be hot in 2011 and as always Shade Station have got the perfect pair of sunglasses to compliment all of fashion’s fancies.

Seventies

With the return of Biba and Halston in 2010, it was clear the era that gave us Studio 54, platform shoes and Saturday Night Fever was going to have a big impact on 2011. Already the high street is awash with flowing skirts, pleated culottes, retro colours, flares, headscarves and oversized sunglasses. In it’s new year edition Heat magazine encouraged readers to stock up on super-sized shades and Vogue.co.uk predict sunglasses to take on “exaggerated shapes…. the new shades have a quirky retro feel”. To channel Farrah Fawcett in her Seventies heyday, super-cool brand D Squared sunglasses would achieve the desired effect. And lovely Pucci sunglasses are also ‘very of the era’.

Tom-Ford-Sunglasses-FT0174-S-03Afw430fh430Ladylike Sixties and Pretty Fifties

With the midi skirt the length du jour, the full circle skirt remaining popular and pointed kitten heels replacing towering heels, 2011 looks set to be a refined year. In terms of accessorising your prim but pretty outfit, Fashionising.com suggest cat’s eyes sunglasses are the shape to be focusing on. Check out our vintage sunglasses section or our Marc Jacobs sunglasses and Tom Ford Sunglasses for feline shapes. For classic Fifties and sixties oversized sunnies hit our Chanel, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and BVLGARI sunglasses pages!

Animal Print

Another trend that is hanging on for dear life… Seemingly more popular than ever this year, shops are bursting with leopard prints, zebra, tiger and ever giraffe! If you’re wearing animal print on your person we would kindly suggest not wearing matching sunglasses and instead choose a pair of big sedate black or brown shades. However if you need to jazz up your outfit with a little print there’s plenty of tortoiseshell to go around! Almost all of the designer labels at Shade Station have tortoiseshell sunglasses on offer, however we particularly like Ray Ban’s tortoiseshell Way Farer sunglasses and Oliver Peoples shades too.

VonZipper-Sunglasses-HO06fw430fh430White and Orange

Maybe it’s because of the whole Seventies vibe going on, that both white and orange feature so strongly this year… whatever the reason it’s nice to see some bold colour on the catwalk. Ray Ban sunglasses are always on trend with their bright colours and Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Carrera sunglasses and Von Zipper sunglasses have some great styles with white frames too.

These are our pick of the big trends for 2011 so whatever look you fancy trying, remember, we’ve always got the best selection of sunglasses to compliment your style!

New Diesel Watches!

New Diesel Watches

New Diesel Watches

Diesel watches, or ‘Timeframes’ as they like to call them, are a hot, chunky wrist accessory for the winter. Great for men or women, Shadestation have the whole collection for your delectation.

New in this season are;

Diesel Watch: DZ4187

This limited edition Diesel watch was created in honor of Diesel founder, Renzo Rosso’s, 55th birthday this September. The wrist piece is called ‘This is my time’ and features this very slogan on the face and also Rosso’s engraved signature. In matte black with a khaki fabric strap this Diesel special edition watch has both amazing style and extreme durability. Each watch also has a unique number as proof of it’s limited identity.

Diesel Watch: DZ1350
Solid, striking and unashamedly urban this Diesel watch is a man’s best friend. With a chunky brown leather strap and a two-tone dial set in an oversized black carbon case this style oozes confidence. The dial is a tale of two halves, with one side picked out in grey and black with white numbers and the other, criss cross, without numbers and with orange accents. Of course the Diesel logo is very present on both the face and the casing.
Diesel Watch: DZ5207
This style is for women, but sports the androgynous look. It looks sophisticated but is definitely aimed at a slightly tougher type of woman and should be avoided if you’re into diamonds and pearls! A slim black leather strap, gives way to a square silver case and a black dial. There are sliver, pink and white accents across the face and the Diesel logo sits proudly top centre of the dial.
Diesel Watch DZ1370
Without a doubt the most sophisticated and charming of the Diesel watches bunch. Although tough and totally urban, this wrist piece would look equally good in the office or out to play. The strap is made of a polished stainless steel linked bracelet and the face is round and oversized. The white minute markers and the numbers 02, 03, 04 picked out, lends this style a uniqueness, and elevates it above other similar models.
Diesel watches are consistant in their design and have a stylish and uncompromising edge which, quite frankly, blows other competitors out the water! For a massive choice and superb prices you needn’t look any further than Shade Station.

Diesel Watches – Be Stupid!

Diesel Watches – Be Stupid

Diesel watches are tough and uncompromising just like their famous counterpart, Diesel jeans. The urban brand is famous worldwide for their attention to detail and the quality of their clothes and accessories. Once a Diesel fan always a Diesel fan and celebrities are no different. On the other side of the pond, Diesel fans include; the ever shrinking Kelly O, style icons Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie and Twilight hottie Taylor Lautner. And it’s no different in Blighty, model Daisy Lowe and Victoria Beckham, along with half the population of the UK are huge advocates of Diesel – all of which, has led to sales figures of over a billion euros since 2007!

Diesel’s progressive and fun marketing campaigns have been anything but dull – with their tongue in cheek slogan ‘For successful living’ and their current ‘Be Stupid’ campaign generating column inches (2 of the ads were banned in Britain for being too saucy, yet they won awards on the continent!) Diesel have a lot to be happy about. They are now known globally as a lifestyle brand and are still continuing to grow and open new stores.

One of Diesel’s more popular collections is their watch range. Diesel watches offer original designs, durable exteriors and the cool factor for the most part under £100. Some of the men’s watches push the £160 mark but overall Diesel watches are great value for money. As you’d expect with an edgy, urban brand, their wristwear is largely chunky and solid and there is plenty of choice. Not discriminating between digital and analogue, there are Diesel watches for both sexes and, although there are lots of browns and blacks in the collection (very suitable for the Autumn and Winter months!), there are also flashes of bright colour (mainly for ladies!).

Shade Station stocks a wide range of Diesel watches, so if you are a fan of this innovative lifestyle brand take a look at the shop page to find your perfect wristpiece!

Striking Calvin Klein Watches

Calvin Klein Watches

Calvin Klein Watches – Striking in style

Calvin Klein watches are much like their name sake – understated, elegant and stylish. Calvin Klein, has made a career out of creating high fashion designs with clean lines, luxe fabrics and very simple cuts. Boosted by the enormous success of the famous CK jeans campaigns starring Kate Moss and Mark Walberg, and the ageless CK One scent in the Nineties, Calvin Klein now dominates the fashion arena. His designs are worn by the rich and famous on the red carpet and he employs the likes of Eva Mendes and Diane Kruger as brand ambassadors.

With all this success, Calvin Klein has now turned his hand to designing watches. Using the same blue print he uses for the rest of his collections, Klein has come up trumps with a new range of fabulous watches. The Calvin Klein watch collection on Shade Station is a sight for sore eyes, even the conventional watches look incredible. Expensive looking materials like leather, croc skin, highly polished stainless steel and gold plate dominate the ensemble and there are striking designs throughout.

We want to draw your attention to some of the truly unique Calvin Klein watches available for purchase;

Calvin Klein Watch ‘Fly’ – This is an unusual piece, designed to double up as a bracelet. With a kind of cage concept, 6 slim sliver bands wrap over the black face of the watch and form a delicate bracelet. The analogue time can be read through the silver bands easily and this design is both a practical and interesting arm decoration.

Calvin Klein Watch ‘Mirror’ – This watch has an elegant space age look. It has an oversized, very smooth round face, which comes in black or gold and is highly polished. The face displays no digits at all, apart from the subtle CK logo at twelve o’clock. The bracelet of the Mirror watch is super slim and contrasts beautifully with the large dial.

Calvin Klein Watch ‘Hypnotic’ – Arguably the most striking of the bunch, this truly hypnotic watch makes a gorgeous luxe arm piece. Designed to be more ‘bracelet’ than ‘watch’ this style sports a small black dial which nestles comfortably in a sea of curvaceous polished stainless steel that wraps around your arm.

Calvin Klein Watch ‘Glam’ – Ironically this watch is less glam than the previous styles, but still merits a mention for being pretty unusual. The strap is made of satin leather in either black or beige and on top of it sits a ring of polished stainless steel, under which the time is displayed.

Although we’ve pointed out just a handful of stand-out Calvin Klein watches, the rest of the collection is by no means shabby. With plenty of design flair and unique touches the new Calvin Klein watch collection is a roaring success.

MDG Sunglasses – Madonna for Dolce and Gabbana Sunglasses

We all know that pop diva and actress Madonna has always been a huge fan of the Italian Dolce & Gabbana brand and also has a strong friendship with the two designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana; the creative brains behind the iconic label. The designers have often used Madonna in their advertising campaigns, including the latest spring campaign and have even designed pieces using her look and ambitious personality as the main inspiration. Madonna has a classic and sophisticated but edgy style and isn’t afraid to experiment with different looks which Dolce & Gabbana have always admired.

We didn’t think it would be long before Madonna and Dolce & Gabbana teamed up to create their own collection and now we are very excited to announce that the trio have taken their fashion relationship to the next level by collaborating on a new sunglasses collection called MDG Madonna For Dolce & Gabbana which will soon arrive at Shade Station!

Madonna has taken an active role in the design process and was clear about how she wanted the shape of the frames and even the logo designed (we love how she has made sure her initial is first!).

The collection comprises of a six piece range of oversized and wraparound styles, all of which are sleek, sexy and feminine and representative of Madonna’s personal chic style and in keeping with the overall look of the Dolce & Gabbana brand. Each pair of sunglasses feature the MDG logo on the arm with the ‘M’ embellished in beautiful diamante stones.

Madonna will also be the face of the MDG advertising campaign which will show her modeling the sunglasses in all their stylish glory.

We’ll keep you updated and let you know when the MDG Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses are in stock – if you would like to be alerted by email, please click here and enter your email address.

The UF6 Yachting TechnoMarine watches for men boast exceptionally reliable and complex Swiss ISA 8270 movement, sleek black rubber straps and one model also has a sea blue inspired aluminium bezel. This range is one of the upper scale elite collections and is water resistant up to 200 metres. The chic TechnoMarine UF6 Dual Time models are also technically advanced examples as feature sophisticated two hand sub dials.

TechnoMarine Lilac Cruise DiamondFor something that is a little glam inspired, the unisex Cruise Diamond collection includes models with the candy toned colours and transparent gel straps but with a stunning and striking diamond embellished bezel – perfect for something highly fashionable and stylish but with that extra special glamorous element.

TechnoMarine watches use exciting and surprising material combinations including stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, blue aluminium and black PVD, allowing the most recently launched watches to convey a contemporary and fresh look with a slightly more sporty appeal.

It is easy to see how the combination of passion, knowledge and skill has resulted in an exquisite, technically advanced and exciting collection of TechnoMarine watches. This is definitely a brand that has successfully united superior design innovation, technology, elegance and refinement and the range of watches are highly functional but with an equally striking and stunning aesthetic, appealing to a wide variety of style personalities.

An elite investment watch that you will always be proud to own, use and wear!
