Exclusive Welder Watches Event in Soho, London
Here at Shade Station we are proud to work closely with our brands and last night saw us team up with Welder Watches for a very swanky press event in London’s ever popular area of Soho! This event was to celebrate the launch of their brand new Exclusive Welder K24 Watches which are going to be only available right here at Shade Station for 2 months. We had an amazing turn out from press and plenty of big wigs in the Watch and Fashion industries all of which absolutely loved the watch and only had amazing things to say about the event. Luckily, I had the privilege of attending and getting some pretty awesome video footage for you guys too (see video below)!
This exclusive press launch was held at Pewtree Anderson & Gold Art Gallery in Soho and was beautifully decorated with abstract and striking paintings by established artist David Coffield. These paintings added a touch of class to the whole event and were interspersed with Welder’s own inimitable artwork depicting these stunning K24 Watches. The Exclusive Welder K24 Watches are designed to look worn and have an overall vintage feel to them; scratches and a distressed appearance are added in the production process and blend Welder’s heritage and future seamlessly. They all feature reinforced stainless steel cases to protect the efficient and futuristic Miyota movement inside, a movement which watch insiders believe is way ahead of it’s time. This relates perfectly then to Welder Watches‘ newest slogan; “Since 2075″ which is said to represent their ‘future ready’ watches! All of these watches feature a 3 dimensional face which is layered to represent the multi-dimensional nature of space and time and the connection between them and Welder Watches. As you will see from the images and exclusive video footage, their straps are rugged yet incredibly comfortable for all day wear and have been specifically designed to incorporate the look and general feel of each individual watch in the range.
We are also giving one of you guys out there to win one of these amazing Welder Watches! Entering couldn’t be simpler, just head on over to our Facebook page to see details and to get a look at the full exclusive range.

A Quest To Find A Master…..Again
Here we go again; the most prestigious title in golf is up for grabs to some of the best pro’s in the world including a few rookies who may surprise.
Last years winner and now Oakley Sunglasses ambassador Bubba Watson still feels he can defend his title with being one of the most powerful players in the game to date. Bubba, aged 34 from Bagdad, Florida won his first Major title almost a year ago to the day beating friend and enemy Louis Oosthuizen in a sudden death play off. He made an impossible shot on the 10th hole during the play off which secured him this prestigious title. Could he do it again? The 1.4 million dollar winnings will surely tempt him.
Tiger Woods has answered his critics as of late smashing his was back up the world ranking leader board this year. Woods has won six times on his last twenty PGA tour appearances and has been confirmed prior to the Masters as the world number one. Tipped by the bookmakers as favourite, this year you really have to…. watch this space, he also looks good in green.

Tiger Woods was also in the news this week talking to the press about the new protégé from China; Guan Tianlang. Guan will rob Woods of being the youngest person to appear in a major at just the tender age of 14. Woods has admitted he was frightened at first and believes the young man from China has great potential for Major wins in the future. Remember Guan was not even born when Tiger Woods won his first Major at the Master’s 1997. Woods since then has held the title of first black player to win the masters coupled with the youngest person ever to win the masters. Could this all change on Sunday?
Oakley will be one of the largest eyewear brands sponsoring the players at the Masters along with the likes of Nike and Adidas Sunglasses. The bright sunlight can be a big test when staring down the fairway trying to place your ball within a ten foot piece of grass and that’s why golfing eyewear is taken very seriously. Bubba Watson will surely be snapped in some Oakley Sunglasses this year as has Guan Tianlang on Monday’s practice round. He was sporting the Oakley Flak Jacket Sunglasses with a polarised grey lens, perfect for the bright light reflecting off the sand.

Grab your self some golfing sunglasses and get out there, who knows, one day you could be playing alongside Tiger and co.

For The Nippers! | Kid’s Sunglasses – Mini Blog
So what is the big deal with buying Kid’s Sunglasses? Most people consider sunglasses as fashion statements or accessories for their outfit; but they can be much more than that. Good sunglasses are an essential when you are out in the sunshine as your eyes are one of the most vulnerable areas of your body as far as UV rays are concerned.; you wouldn’t let the kids out without sun cream! Our designer kid’s sunglasses provide unrivalled protection for their eyes with all brands and models having 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protective lenses to keep their eyes safe and sound at all times. Ranging from brands with sporting prowess such as Bolle Sunglasses right through to the dizzying fashion heights of Ray Ban Junior Sunglasses and Gucci Kids Sunglasses.
You will find that Kid’s Sunglasses are designed to be incredibly lightweight and versatile, often being made from thin metal alloy or acetate so that they can be worn all day with comfort. Durability is of course another factor as children are not known to take care of designer goods; so all of the kid’s sunglasses are made from super tough frame materials which also ensure your children’s eyes are kept safe no matter what they get up to.

Sneak-a-Peek! | POC Goggles
POC Goggles are one of the biggest hitters in the snow/leisure industry and their goggles can be seen on the slopes in pretty much every country! POC is short for Protective Concepts and they are developed to optimise need, function and protection depending on activity and conditions. Along with protecting your eyes from snow, ice, rain, slipstream, uv-rays, branches as well as assisting your vision in different light conditions, POC have worked on optimizing the field of view, for better periphery perception, fast reaction and therefore promoting safety.
POC Goggles have Double Lenses which feature an injection molded outer lens. This allows for a great variation of the shape and geometry, allowing optimized coverage and 3D shape of the lens. This results in better field of vision as well as better optics, since the shape can be optimized for the frame and the resulting distance from the wearer’s eyes. This type of double lens is die-cut. This means that the lenses are cut out from a sheet, allowing for a highly efficient production process plus great possibilities to change the tint and VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of the lenses.
Special NXT Lenses are equipped with a colour vision boosting filter – HCD (High Chromatic Definition) which has an extreme contrast enhancing effect and takes goggle lens clarity to a new dimension. To help you keep your lens clean and clear you will also find an excellent Oleophobic/Hydrophobic treatment as well as an Anti-scratch/Anti-fog treatment. Except for these unique “basic” features we also added a Photochromatic filter. The Photochromatic filter enables the lens to change the tint color depending on the current light conditions. Skiiers demand minimum refraction error, which is why race-specific lenses are made using only a single lens. Single lenses are generally known to have poor anti-fog protection, but the base material and coatings chosen for POC’s race goggles are the best available.
POC Goggles will be arriving with us in October so why not find us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram to be kept in the loop for when they hit the shelves…

Sneak-a-Peek | New Limited Edition Police Sunglasses Mini Blog!

Police Sunglasses like to push the boundaries at all times and their brand new Police S8784 Sunglasses are a fantastic example of this! In the classic Aviator frame shape, these are sure to be popular with an awful lot of people and Police’s unique use of materials and colours allows them to stand out from the crowd of similar frames. The Police S8784 Sunglasses juxtapose Leather with Metal Alloy which adds a whole new dimension to them and the tapered arms mean that they will fit the vast majority of head sizes and shapes. Police have incorporated striking temple designs into the arms with the cut out ‘P’ logo being etched out of solid metal; something that has never really been done on an Aviator Sunglass before.
Despite having thicker than normal frames, they are super lightweight and can be worn all day with ease and their UV protective lenses have great optical clarity to avoid any of those annoying sunglass headaches you can get with cheaper brands. Cushioned nosepieces are the perfect way to complete this frame and this means that they will never dig in even with prolonged use! They are available in two colours (pictured above) and will be due into us very shortly.

Aviator Sunglasses

For decades the classic ‘Teardrop’ or ‘Aviator’ style sunglasses have dominated the fashion and eyewear world with celebrities, film stars, fashionistas and the public alike all adorning these flattering and inherently alluring frames. Many brands have got in on the act including Dior Sunglasses, Gucci Sunglasses, Oliver Peoples Sunglasses, Police Sunglasses, Polo by Ralph Lauren Sunglasses, Tom Ford Sunglasses and of course the brand that started the craze; Ray Ban Sunglasses. The original Ray Ban RB3025 Aviator Sunglasses have featured in a vast array of films, TV shows and on the faces of some of the world’s most loved celebrities with the most famous appearance being made in Top Gun back in 1986. Everything about the Aviator style made them bound for success; the teardrop effect lens accentuates the natural lines on your face and will therefore suit the vast majority of people whatever their head size or shape. In this blog post we are going to explore some of the most popular Aviator models and run through exactly what makes each one so incredibly popular.
Ray Ban RB3025 - These are the grand-daddy of retro styling and stone cold cool eyewear. Back in the early 80s, sunglasses were primarily made from thick plastic which looked fantastic but were sometimes a little bit laborious if you wanted to wear them all day…enter the Aviator. Made from thin metal alloy, the frames sat comfortably on your face and never dug in thanks to their cushioned nose pads and unique shape; something that we had never seen before! Nowadays, the Ray Ban Aviator Sunglasses still turn heads and look just as iconic as their 20th century ancestors.
Dior Piccadilly 2 - Dior are one of the world leaders in fashion with their designs considered to be trend-setting and their eyewear second to none. The Dior Piccadilly 2 Aviator Sunglasses use both acetate and metal alloy to amazing effect and add a touch of dimension to the already stunning design.
Gucci GG4225/S - When you hear the name Gucci you are instantly transported to images of the truly rich living in true luxury, however their sunglasses are far from inaccessible. The Gucci GG4225/S Aviator Sunglasses not only utilise the teardrop lenses and thin frames, but further improve the design by adding a feminine weave effect on the arms!
Oliver Peoples Benedict - Born on the iconic Sunset Blvd Strip in Hollywood, Oliver Peoples has expanded its horizons massively from the small boutique they had back in 1986. The Oliver Peoples Benedict Sunglasses have slightly narrower lenses to the standard Aviator style meaning that they have a more ‘wrap-around’ appearance.
Police S8299 - Police were one of the founders of vivid and colourful designer eyewear and their brand new Aviator style S8299 Sunglasses juxtapose their rich history with modern innovation. With a slightly thicker frame and extended top bar, they are a breath of fresh air in the Aviator world!
Polo by Ralph Lauren PH3056 - Part of globally renowned fashion house, Ralph Lauren, Polo has started to become a fashion stalwart of its own and the PH3056 Aviator Sunglasses prove this perfectly. Polo’s instantly recognisable logo is perched proudly on the thick arms as a sign of quality and their continued fervour for fashion excellence.
Tom Ford Cole - Tom Ford Sunglasses are so ‘on trend’ at the moment, it is difficult to keep their sunglasses in stock long enough to see the new styles! Luckily, however, we have seen the Tom Ford Cole Aviator Sunglasses and they are simply stunning. Made from both acetate and metal alloy, the top bar stands out prominently for a truly head-turning look!
