Italian fashion label Dolce & Gabbana is famous for its elaborate and glamorous advertising campaigns and past models and that have all made memorable appearances include Gisele, Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward. The latest glamazon to grace the billboards and silver screens as the face of D&G is actress Scarlett Johansson who is the perfect match for the sophistication and femininity that the brand aims to convey in its range of clothing, accessories, jewellery and watches.

There has been a huge issue surrounding the use of thin models in advertising campaigns and on the catwalks and therefore an icon such as Scarlett Johansson who is renowned and adored for her curvaceous, womanly figure and extraordinary beauty, is the perfect choice to represent the theme of D&G. The actress’s image is very reminiscent of 50’s Hollywood glamour and this is definitely the essence of the D&G collections with the watches being as sparkly, sophisticated and chic as ever.

There are some wonderful new styles to look for this season, all of which are perfect for the inevitable parties that take place over the festive season and beyond. The new Flock D&G watches are both aesthetically stunning and practical with their silver D&G branded bangle strap and simple faces in either mint green or black. The new Visionnaire D&G watch with its multi strand links and diamante inserts is absolutely striking and makes for the ideal evening style watch that will perfectly compliment your party dress. For something a little more neutral and understated yet with that untouchable D&G chic edge, the New Gloria watch with its black or white leather strap and diamante bezel is a perfect way to jazz up your day look and can easily transcend through to a dressed up evening out. For the men, the Anchor D&G watch certainly allows you to shine in a masculine manner with its polished stainless steel strap and ultra chic black and silver round dial with the iconic D&G logo positioned at the bottom.

D&G is a label which is consistently spotted at high profile events whether this is the brand sponsoring a party (such as the New Moon preview after party) or if the attendees are seen wearing garments and accessories by the label. It is a brand which is always on the scene and people are constantly aware of its ever evolving collections. The advertising campaigns are also key to establishing the image that D&G wants to portray in the actual products – the elaborate settings, exquisite colours and romantic tone all help to convey D&G as a brand that is synonymous with all of these elements. The collection of D&G watches are the perfect way to capture a part of that glamour and the bold and unique designs which push design and colour boundaries really make a statement about your style. The new additions for this season are perfect if you want to shine like a Hollywood star and add something really special to your festive look!

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana know exactly how to create a stir. From their sexy designs and their sunglasses to their catwalk shows and adverts, the D&G impact is super and sensational. Known for the glamorous dresses they design and their big statement sunglasses, D&G have been wooing stylish men and women across the globe for over 20 years.

In recent years their advertising has taken centre stage, as their choice of models have wowed the public and been the basis for much admiration and discussion. You may be familiar with the name David Gandy. In 2006 he was recruited by D&G and has since been the face of D&G’s Light Blue fragrance, as well as taking to the catwalk for D&G every season. This delicious piece of eye-candy, originally from Essex, got women every wear hot under the collar as he posed seductively in a pair of white briefs and little else, to advertise the D&G scent.

In a clever ploy to tantalise the opposite sex, D&G’s next talking point came in the form of a pouting Marilyn-esque Scarlett Johansson, deployed to seduce men and win over women for the launch of their 2009 Cosmetics Collection – ‘The Make Up’. Chosen for her natural beauty, chameleon qualities and her sensual, provocative nature, Scarlett proved the perfect choice to front a glamorous D&G campaign.

And whilst Scarlett Johansson smolders on giant billboards and posters, celebrities get their D&G kicks in real life by wearing beautiful D&G dresses and hiding from the paps behind stunning D&G sunglasses. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, big screen sirens Jessica Alba and Reece Witherspoon and actress Eva Longoria all enjoy wearing Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses and the current campaign shows supermodel Claudia Schiffer, relaxing on the beach in her marble-effect D&G sunglasses.

So take your lead from the A-List and invest in a pair of super duper D&G shades… Not only are they one of the most popular labels to be seen in this summer, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses will make you look like a star!

An Oakley’s Original

September 5, 2008

Bag yourself a brand new piece of history. It might sound like a contradiction in terms to you, but we couldn’t be more serious. That’s because Oakley have only gone and resurrected their iconic Frogskin shades- the very things that put them firmly on the fashion map over twenty years ago.

Giving everyone who owned a pair in the eighties a healthy slice of street-cred, Frogskins’s come under the same category as Rayban Wayfarer’s and are back to boost the retro rankings of those who missed out on the trend first time round! A firm favourite with celebrities like John Mayer, Joel Madden, Kanye West, Rihanna and Scarlett Johansson, it’s not just their ‘too cool for school’ credentials that make them so covetable – the fact that they’re limited edition certainly packs a punch too. Since being re-launched earlier this year, only 3000 of these sunnies have been produced, propelling them straight to the top of every fashionista’s wish-list. Originally available in over 50 colours, the new breed of frogskins’ have been made in limited colour batches with a new colourway introduced each month. Already released this year, styles have boasted fluro-yellow frames paired with ‘fire’ lenses, glow-in-the-dark frames with bronze lenses, white frames with violet lenses and dalmation frames with a grey lense tint for the more audacious.

Oakley have also recruited skateboarder Greg Lutzka to create a signature frame for the range, alongside Andrew Petterson who has created 50 hand-painted Frogskins as an extension of Oakley’s Artist Series program, expected to roll-out in October.

Another reason these sunglasses get the big thumbs up, is not only do they look the same as back in the day, they’ve been made in the same way too, and by re-tooling their manufacturing methods and equipment, Oakley have created an identical frame and lens combo as the original. And regardless of the fun factor the shades have, they even feature the patented Plutinite lenses that block out 100% UVA, UVB and UVC spectrum so your iris’s stay safe as well as stylish. Plus, if you see eye-to-eye with your partner (literally), when it comes to your signature style, you’ll be pleased to hear these amphibious pieces of eye-art are unisex, so you’ve got double the chance of getting your hands on a pair – grab it while you can.
