Ray-Ban Sunglasses

Once again the stars flocked to the Coachella Festival in California this April, to see the likes of Kanye West, Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire and The Kings of Leon perform. The temperature was soaring and the celebs, as always, kicked back in their best festival garb… Known for the great line up year after year, Coachella is also famed for it’s super stylish A-list party crowd, who set the bar high for fashionable festival goers throughout the ensuing festival season.

California’s finest kept it cool with loose flowing fabrics in soft muted colours like white, cream and peach, as well as teeny tiny denim shorts and quirky little dresses. All outfits were of course accessorised with the coolest designer sunglasses. With the mercury hitting highs of 40 degrees over the festival weekend, sunglasses were essential to keep celebrity peepers covered. Amongst the A-List, Ray-Ban sunglasses appeared to be the brand of choice. Actress Kate Bosworth is huge fan of Ray Ban sunglasses and was pictured wearing her Ray Ban Aviators all weekend. Known for her hip style Kate Bosworth is very loyal to the label and was spotted in the same Ray Ban aviator style shades at Coachella in 2010 too.

Another actress famed for her laid back, but cool, edgy style is Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten was spotted with her boyfriend Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood, rocking black Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses, whilst he was wearing a similar style of shades with red frames. Joshua Jackson, best known as Diane Kruger’s other half and for playing Pacey in Dawsons Creek is also a fan of Ray Bans. At Coachella he was seen relaxing in the sun sporting Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.

Ray Ban sunglasses combine superb technology with an effortlessly cool style, making them the ultimate brand for festival revelling!

Yes, The BRIT Awards rolled around again for one more year and quite a star-studded evening it was too – filled with amazing performances and the presentation of some of the most prestigious awards in the music industry.

Of course, whilst the music is the reason why the BRIT Awards happen, we can’t help but analyse what all the artists and their entourages are wearing, and we were very happy to see that Ray-Ban Wayfarers were a prominent part of one artist’s outfit in particular!

Tinie Tempah has been big news on the music and style scene over the past year, and his talent and popularity was certainly recognised at the event, with Tinie winning 2 BRIT Awards for ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’ and ‘Best British Single’.

Tinie Temper Brit Awards 2011The iconic event was sponsored by MasterCard and as part of the Something For The Fans competition every BRIT performer gave away an item of theirs that they viewed as ‘Priceless’. Of course, Tinie chose his Ray-Ban Wayfarers!

It’s clear that his Wayfarers are a symbol of Tinie’s style as when he took to the stage to perform, all of his 14 dancers were dressed as him, all rocking Ray-Ban Wayfarers. At one point in the song he refers to ‘Crazy Sun Protectors’ – meaning his sunglasses, and even lifted up the Ray-Bans whilst rapping the line!

Tinie was also featured in GQ’s ‘Brits Most Stylish Men’ and certainly looked the part, teaming his black Ray-Ban sunglasses with clear lenses with an ultra sharp white Dolce & Gabbana suit.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are one of the most iconic styles of Ray-Ban sunglasses in the world of fashion and it definitely looks like they’re  here to stay!

Remain on trend with Ray Ban Sunglasses

Whether you’re hitting the slopes or taking a winter beach break, your eyes need protection – and there’s no better combination of sun damage prevention and style than Ray Ban sunglasses.

Ray Ban was the very first sunglasses brand to introduce anti-glare lenses, initially to pilots and then to the demanding public. To date they are the sunglasses brand of choice for those who value technological innovation and hip design.

Ray Ban sunglasses have always been at the cut and thrust of cool. Adorned by actors, rock stars, indie kids and style divas, Ray Ban sunglasses have achieved cult status with many of their collections. Their Aviator sunglasses and Wayfarers have become the blueprint for contemporary popular design and both the High Street and top end designers model many of their own sunglasses designs on these popular silhouettes.

Ray Ban not only produce best-selling, ultra-hot sunglasses they also live the image. With a big presence in the music industry, at festivals small and large, UK and abroad, and links to the art and design industry, they encompass everything a modern lifestyle brand should.

Ray Ban’s Rare Prints Wayfarers are going to be even bigger news this year with new designs released imminently. Last years Floral trend remains big news this Spring / Summer ’11 and Ray Ban’s floral Rare Print Wayfarers fit the bill perfectly.

Another trend identified in our blog last week is bright colours, particularly white and orange. With the summer just around the corner stay ahead of the curve and get your hands on a pair of vivid Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses or even Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses with a colourful brow bar.

With celebrity endorsement from the likes of Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen and Kate Moss, you’ll be in good company wearing your Ray Ban sunglasses this year!

Fashionistas sit up and take note! Those in the know have made their style predictions for the year ahead and it’s looking like another vintage inspired annum…

The following trends are going to be hot in 2011 and as always Shade Station have got the perfect pair of sunglasses to compliment all of fashion’s fancies.

Seventies

With the return of Biba and Halston in 2010, it was clear the era that gave us Studio 54, platform shoes and Saturday Night Fever was going to have a big impact on 2011. Already the high street is awash with flowing skirts, pleated culottes, retro colours, flares, headscarves and oversized sunglasses. In it’s new year edition Heat magazine encouraged readers to stock up on super-sized shades and Vogue.co.uk predict sunglasses to take on “exaggerated shapes…. the new shades have a quirky retro feel”. To channel Farrah Fawcett in her Seventies heyday, super-cool brand D Squared sunglasses would achieve the desired effect. And lovely Pucci sunglasses are also ‘very of the era’.

Tom-Ford-Sunglasses-FT0174-S-03Afw430fh430Ladylike Sixties and Pretty Fifties

With the midi skirt the length du jour, the full circle skirt remaining popular and pointed kitten heels replacing towering heels, 2011 looks set to be a refined year. In terms of accessorising your prim but pretty outfit, Fashionising.com suggest cat’s eyes sunglasses are the shape to be focusing on. Check out our vintage sunglasses section or our Marc Jacobs sunglasses and Tom Ford Sunglasses for feline shapes. For classic Fifties and sixties oversized sunnies hit our Chanel, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and BVLGARI sunglasses pages!

Animal Print

Another trend that is hanging on for dear life… Seemingly more popular than ever this year, shops are bursting with leopard prints, zebra, tiger and ever giraffe! If you’re wearing animal print on your person we would kindly suggest not wearing matching sunglasses and instead choose a pair of big sedate black or brown shades. However if you need to jazz up your outfit with a little print there’s plenty of tortoiseshell to go around! Almost all of the designer labels at Shade Station have tortoiseshell sunglasses on offer, however we particularly like Ray Ban’s tortoiseshell Way Farer sunglasses and Oliver Peoples shades too.

VonZipper-Sunglasses-HO06fw430fh430White and Orange

Maybe it’s because of the whole Seventies vibe going on, that both white and orange feature so strongly this year… whatever the reason it’s nice to see some bold colour on the catwalk. Ray Ban sunglasses are always on trend with their bright colours and Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Carrera sunglasses and Von Zipper sunglasses have some great styles with white frames too.

These are our pick of the big trends for 2011 so whatever look you fancy trying, remember, we’ve always got the best selection of sunglasses to compliment your style!

Mollie King Wear Ray-Ban Aviators

Mollie King Wears her Ray-Ban Aviators

So the autumn season is upon us but that certainly doesn’t mean that your sunglasses should be pushed to the back of your accessories wardrobe – especially if your choice of sunglasses are a pair of Ray-Bans!

Ray-Ban sunglasses are a timelessly stylish and statement accessory with a huge number of the various styles always seen on the celebs and style icons. If you know you are after a designer pair of sunglasses that you want to serve style and function longevity, Ray-Ban sunglasses are a perfect choice as will always be right at the forefront of fashion and provide you with that effortlessly chic look that the celebs seem to pull off so well!

Let’s take a look some of the Ray-Ban styles that the celebrities have been seen wearing-:

Demi Levato is a big fan of her Ray-Bans and was spotted wearing the Ray-Ban 2140 Wayfarers – one of the most famous and iconic styles of sunglasses that are constantly re-invented boasting slightly adjusted frame sizes, colours and patterns to keep the look fresh and contemporary. If you are after a classic style of sunglasses, you can’t go wrong with the original black Wayfarers.

The Ray-Ban 4141 sunglasses are a huge hit on the style scene and are similar to the Wayfarer in terms of their thick frame and simple style but the lenses are distinctively more rounded. The celebs have caught onto this design quickly and the Ray-Ban 4141 style has been seen on the likes of Mischa Barton, Pixie Geldof, Pixie Lott and Fearne Cotton.

Ray-Ban was the original creator of the aviator sunglasses and today, the ultra iconic Ray-Ban 3025 style is still going strong. These sunglasses are super easy to wear – flattering most face shapes and instantly providing you with a laid-back chic look whilst also adding a smart and put-together finish to your ensemble. Ray-Ban aviators are constantly seen on the style icons and celebrity fans include Audrina Partridge, Lo Bosworth and Mollie King from The Saturdays.

The Ray-Ban 4138 sunglasses are part of the Predator Ray-Ban collection and feature a thick frame that is wrapped to provide protection and create a sleek finish. Singer Aggro Santas was pictured in the recent pair of Ray-Ban 4138 sunglasses at The MOBO Awards 2010 Nomination Launch held at the Mayfair hotel.

Ray-Ban sunglasses are ultimately one of the most iconic brands of sunglasses out there because many of the styles are simple and are designed to compliment all trend/style preferences – fans of the grunge look could easily work a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers as could someone who prefers a classically chic style.

Just because summer is over, Ray-Ban sunglasses certainly aren’t going anywhere so keep your eyes peeled for new styles arriving this season!

The Iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarer – Still Going Strong!

Ray-Ban Wayfarers – The Choice of the Style Icons

Despite being founded back in 1937, the Ray-Ban brand today in 2010 is stronger than ever! Every year Ray-Ban usually reveals a new and exciting style or a revamped version of an iconic style, so we are always waiting in anticipation to see what’s coming next!

Last year when retro style was a huge key trend, the old-school colour inspired Ray-Ban Clubmasters were one of the hottest designs to be seen wearing. Still a favourite that has continued through to summer 2010, the Clubmaster is an incredibly popular style and we predict that the forthcoming music festivals will definitely see the colourful and classic Clubmasters once again, in all their glory!

There is also a Ray-Ban design that all the style icons, celebrities and anyone who knows a thing or two about fashion are constantly seen wearing – the Ray-Ban Wayfarer. Kate Moss, Nicole Ritchie, Lauren Conrad, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have all been seen sporting their classic and colourful Wayfarers (with Robert wearing them on-screen in Twilight as well as off-screen!) and the design just seems to flatter every face shape, providing your finished look with that sense of star quality.

It’s probably fair to say that the Ray-Ban Wayfarer has become a defining fashion item of this era and is likely a staple in many of our wardrobes or at least one that is high up on our wish list! The flattering shape that looks great on men and women is synonymous with only the coolest movers and shakers in the fashion and celebrity industry, yet also looks effortlessly stylish on us ‘normal’ folk who love the opportunity to get a piece of what our face celeb is wearing – and be able to wear it according to our own style and still look great. Ray-Ban sunglasses are accessible to everyone yet still possess sought after status due to the brand’s significant history and the superior quality of each pair, meaning that you really do get more than what you pay for.

Colour and the concept of mixing patterns and prints is a huge look for summer 2010 in clothing and accessories, therefore the Wayfarer has adapted accordingly to suit this trend. The acetate, slightly masculine and bold shape remains exactly the same but vibrant colours and patterns on the main frame and/or the frame interior have being added with the result being a contemporary, fresh and trendy collection with that flawless classic edge that has highly contributed to the overall success of Ray-Ban. From desert camouflage Wayfarers to pastel multi coloured crystal Wayfarers and even bright sunshine yellow Wayfarers, make sure you check out the latest collection to see which creative design catches your eye – each and every pair will make you look instantly stylish in an effortlessly ‘thrown together’ way, and the use of colour and pattern in the new Wayfarers is a great way of adding some vibrancy to your summer style!

Ray Ban have summer stitched up!

Ray Ban sunglasses

If you’re not in Ray Ban sunglasses this summer you may find yourself in the minority… The Ray Ban craze shows no signs of abating – quite the contrary in fact as they’ve already updated their tasty portfolio of shades this year.

At the beginning of 2010 Ray Ban introduced their ‘Rare Prints’ range of Wayfarer sunglasses – a twist on the original block shades, with subway designs, floral motifs and stripes. In addition to some snazzy prints, Ray Ban have released the Wayfarer II, an update on the Wayfarer style with two tone coloured frame and arms. The summer is the perfect time to add more colour to your palette and Ray Ban make it super easy, as so many of their Wayfarer designs are colourtastic! Just pop a pair on and you’ve nailed a couple of trends in one go!

Most young celebrities acknowledge the style power of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and some are die-hard fans. Stylish men and women who wear Wayfarers include; Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, Dominic Cooper and Robert Pattinson.

Continuing with the colour theme and also picking up on our love for oversized shades, Ray Ban’s Cats 1000 are a great pair of sunglasses to cover your peepers this summer. With acetate frames, massive lenses and a retro style, the Cats 1000 come in a range of bright colours including acid pink and yellow, tortoiseshell and two tone.

Another hit this summer for Ray Ban has been their sunglasses style RB4141. A little like a re-worked Club Master, but with Wayfarer arms, these shades have smaller round lenses and smack of Sixties vintage with a new age twist. Worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Pixie Geldof, the perfectly round lenses are a huge trend this season.

And finally we couldn’t leave without mentioning our love of Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. The original and still the best – these beauties were designed for pilots back in the day and now adorn everyone from Cheryl Cole, Kylie, Tom Cruise and David Beckham. Loved by all and sympathetic to most face shapes, Aviators are the classic stylish option to some of Ray Ban’s wackier styles.

We love Ray Bans!

Ray Ban Sunglasses

Have you seen the one where the guy gets a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses tattooed to his face? Or the one where the
chameleon changes colour every time it touches a ‘Colourized’ pair of Ray Ban sunnies? Or the one where a cow gives birth to a naked skinny man wearing white Ray Ban sunglasses ? Or even the one where 100 people freestyle wearing a selection of Ray Ban sunglasses?

Thanks to the internet, companies like Ray Ban are finding crazy, hilarious and abstract ways to advertise their product and make some global noise. Clever, off-the wall short virals are without a doubt one of the hottest ways in 2010 to get people talking about a brand. Ray Ban has always been slightly ahead of the curve and their sunglasses appeal massively to the internet generation, thanks to their retro, classic designs, cool advertising and huge celebrity endorsement.

Hot young thing Marina, the flame haired lead singer of band ‘Marina and the Diamonds’, always carries a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers in her handbag, even at red carpet events. In this month’s Instyle magazine she is quoted at The Brits saying her Wayfarers “… are great on no make-up days.” Other fans of Ray Bans are well documented. You name a young Hollywood celebrity and they’ve probably been pictured in a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers, Ray Ban Clubmasters or the classic Ray Ban Aviator.

New to the Ray Ban sunglasses collective this year is the Rare Prints line and The Outdoorsman range. Adding a fresh twist to 2 old classics, Ray Ban have rejuvenated their already incredibly popular Wayfarer and Aviator styles to bring them bang up to date for a new decade. The humble Wayfarer has been attacked with stripes, pastel floral patterns and even a subway map for 2010 and the ever so stylish ‘suits anyone’ Aviator has been given a facelift with a luxurious hint of leather across the bridge,

If the Met Office is anything to go by, we’re in for a scorcher this Summer, so make sure you spend the sunny season protecting your eyes with the coolest brand on the sunglasses block.

Celebrity Sunglasses at Cannes 2009!

June 5, 2009

If you’re celebrity savvy like us you will have been watching all the action at the recent 2009 Cannes Film Festival with interest. The stars, the dresses, the parties and the gossip kept us entertained for at least a week!

Angelina and Brad put on a show of togetherness in answer to reports of an imminent split. Penelope Cruz braved the festival whilst suffering with flu. Twilight’s Robert Pattinson’s non-stop partying was widely reported. Surprise at the pairing of Hero’s Hayden Panettiere and T4’s Steve Jones, seen canoodling onboard David Furnish’s yacht for the duration of the festival. Paris Hilton and her beau Doug Reinhart courting the paps as usual and Mariah Carey promoting her new film ‘Precious’. As well as 2 films depicting the life of Mademoiselle Chanel and an appearance from Chanel‘s Creative Director, the unflappable Karl Lagerfeld, made for an exciting festival.

The French Riviera was awash with Hollywood Glitterati and the sun shone brightly, so unsurprisingly we were treated to a role call of the latest, most fashionable designer sunglasses as modelled by the A-Listers.

Police sunglasses were a popular choice amongst the men, with director Quentin Tarantino, rapper Neyo and the newly reformed Spandau Ballet all sporting various cool looking styles. Brad Pitt took to the Red Carpet for his movie  ‘Inglourious Basterds’ wearing top to toe Tom Ford including a sharp looking pair of Tom Ford style aviators. Both Robert Pattinson and Orlando Bloom flew the flag for Ray Ban, with the Twilight star rocking some Ray Ban Clubmasters and Bloom wearing nothing but swimming shorts and a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers.

German born Diane Kruger is rarely seen without her Ray Ban Wayfarers and Cannes was no exception this year. Eva Longoria turned up the heat with a sizzling pair of large red Gina sunglasses by Louis Vuitton accompanied by her husband, basketball player Tony Parker. Red head Julianne Moore was pictured wearing a stunning pair of oversized black Gucci sunglasses and singer Mariah Carey chose a fabulous pair of Roberto Cavalli sunglasses for her photo call. Closing this year’s festival was Chanel muse and actress Anna Mouglalis with her film ‘Coco Chanel & Igor Strvinsky’ wearing… Chanel sunglasses – bien sur!

Ray-Bans seem to always be on the up. With their fingers on the pulse, they are everywhere – whether it be on the silver screen, in music videos and even on the racing tracks the sunglasses brand is forever gaining popularity, renowned for its slick and on trend yet classic style.

Ray-Ban has partnered with Brawn GP for the past six Formula One seasons and that is look set to continue. The brand entered Formula One along with the racing team including Jenson Button team in July 2004 and the relationship has worked wonders for promoting the Ray-Ban brand image on a global scale. Racing driving is regarded as a cool, thrill seeking sport and therefore it seems perfect that Ray-Ban should be the brand associated with this theme. The distinctive Ray-Ban logo is featured on the helmet visors of Brawn GP’s racing drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello and the rest of the Formula One team members love the Ray Ban range and have been spotted wearing some of the new styles from the brand’s 2009 range outside of the track.

The distinctive styling of the Ray-Ban style whether it be the classic Wayfarers, the modern colourful Wayfarers or the new silver mirror tech frames which are a current favourite among the Formula One team, means that the brand fits perfectly into movies, fashion, music and sport. With celebrity sportsman such as Jenson Button favouring the brand and sporting the style on and off the racing track, this can only be a good sign and the success of Ray-Ban is only set to continue.
