Wimbledon 2009 has been a scorcher and this rare display of great British weather has given us a grand opportunity to see just which sunglasses the celebs favour.
The first day of the tournament saw Jude Law hanging out with actor Jonny Lee Miller and unsurprisingly both opted for traditional and stylish Ray Ban sunglasses, with Jude modelling Wayfarers and the Trainspotting actor in aviators. The same day Razorlight’s Jonny Borrell was also seen sporting his black Ray Ban Wayfarers whilst enjoying the tennis.
Wimbledon appeals to all ages and older fans including Sir Cliff Richards, Sir Trevor Macdonald, Sir Bobby Charlton, Bruce Forsyth, Rolf Harris and racing driver Jackie Stewart were seen cheering on their favourites this year. In the younger camp Aleesha Dixon was in attendance, as was Sam Mendes and his Oscar winning wife Kate Winslet, who watched Federer secure his place in the semi’s. Ewan Macgregor was seen cheering on fellow Scot, Andrew Murray and both Eddie Izzard and Noel Fielding were spotted in the crowd at SW19.
This year’s celebrity talking piece came in the form of Justin Timberlake who took time out of his schedule promoting his ‘William Rast’ clothing label to support Andy Roddick on Centre Court. Displaying his usual effortless laid back cool, JT accessorised with a flat cap and a pair of Wayfarer style sunglasses with a stylish navy coloured frames. International pop sensation Grace Jones also rocked Wimbledon wearing an outlandish hat and oversized black sunnies.
To score your own fashion ace in similar oversized sunglasses look to brands like Gucci, Prada, Pucci, D&G and Chanel for classic ’leading lady’ style.

Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to own a pair of Prada sunnies. Prada has become synonymous with style, elegance and good taste. Never knowingly over the top or excessive, Prada is always on trend and rarely puts a foot wrong.
One of last years hottest celebrity sunglasses trends were Prada’s Butterfly shades. At one time or another most of Hollywoods A-list could be seen sporting them. Nicole Ritchie, a big sunglasses fan, spent most of the summer in hers as did Paris Hilton and actress turned singer turned Anglophile Juliette Lewis. This year’s collection is all about smooth curves and wide frames in black and royal purple. The perennially popular aviator also gets an update for 2009 with a double bridged nose and an unusually wide arm. Eva Longoria has already been seen in this 56IS aviator style this year. While we’re yet to predict which style will prove a hit with the fickle fashionistas, you can bet your bottom dollar Prada will be adorning many a celeb face this summer.
Although Prada pre dates The First World War, (it was founded in 1913) it didn’t really enjoy commercial success until Miuccia Prada took over the company reins in 1978 and even then it wasn’t an overnight wonder. Having laid the groundwork throughout the Eighties, Prada finally came into it’s own in the early Nineties with the explosion of celebrity voyeurism, when just about every media darling was seen in Prada’s elegant threads. The ball kept on rolling and in 1998 the company launched their own line of sunglasses, which have proved popular with celebrities and ‘civillians’ alike. For all of us who covet a Prada piece but can’t quite (ok, not even nearly) stretch to over a grand for an item of clothing, their collection of eye wear means we can all own a little of the dream.

Tags:As we hurtle through summer, you can’t fail to notice the new Autumn / Winter trends popping up all around us – in the fashion glossies, on the high street and at red carpet events, but if you haven’t even been away on your summer hols yet, now’s the time to bag yourself a bargain in the sales. And what better way to get a good deal than to go online? No hassling through rails of cheap tat, trying to work out whether you can get an extra 10% discount off that cream ruffled shirt, especially now the lady next to you just put a dirty great footprint on the sleeve – all in a vain attempt to grab that animal print kaftan you had your beady eye on anyway! Oh no, the only way to sale-shop in the noughties is in cyberspace. Plus, with the credit crunch hot on our heels, there’s even more of an excuse to pile that make-believe basket high, because who knows if we’ll even be able to afford a holiday next year, let alone a pair of sunnies or a frock?
In fact, sale shopping online is so easy; you don’t even have to navigate away from this website before you
can start saving pounds (not pennies) on designer goods. It’d be rude not to, right? It’s not just us laymen who like to indulge in a little cut-price purchasing either and we can guarantee that whilst you’re searching for some last-minute holiday essentials, there’ll be a whole host of celebs discount digging at the same time. Just because they don’t often get snapped with their bright red SALE carriers, doesn’t mean they don’t relish a reduced rate! Now all you need to do is remember where you hid that ‘emergencies only’ credit card!
