The Oakley Jupiter Carbon Sunglasses are one of the newest releases to come out of Oakley Sunglasses HQ and they may look a little familiar…but don’t let that fool you! Those of you who remember the Oakley Jupiter Factory Lite Sunglasses will be able to draw this comparison, however they are very different indeed; from the material that they are made of, right through to subtleties in design. First of all, lets discuss the similarities; they both have an almost identical shape and profile on your face, patented Plutonite lenses which are 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protective and both of their lenses feature Oakley’s HD and XYZ Optics which completely cut out refraction of light and therefore the optical clarity is second to none! Oakley have over 600 patents to protect this technology so you can be sure that you won’t find this kind of innovation elsewhere.
As with the Oakley Jupiter Factory Lite Sunglasses, the Oakley Jupiter Carbon Sunglasses feature lightweight carbon fibre arms which are attached with mono-shock hinges for a truly comfortable wear and the ‘three-point fit’ technology ensures that they will fit the vast majority of head sizes and shapes. Where the two frames differ is the actual frame itself; where the Factory Lites had a precision engineered aluminium centre frame, the Oakley Jupiter Carbon Sunglasses have an O Matter centre frame. O Matter is Oakley’s patented polycarbonate compound which is incredibly flexible and durable and is impact resistant to the same level as industrial strength eyewear!
Although these amazing frames are not going to be available until the summer, you can register your interest on our site and we will let you know when they arrive. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates and news…

The Oakley Fathom Collection is Oakley Sunglasses newest range and it features Oakley Garage Rock Sunglasses, Oakley Dispatch II Sunglasses, Oakley Radarlock Path Sunglasses and Oakley Racing Jacket Sunglasses. Fathom is a design idea that has come straight from Oakley’s Foothills Ranch and it features a design pallete ranging from magma orange to deep sea blues right through to the yellows of a coral reef. The Oakley Fathom Garage Rock Sunglasses comes with Ice Iridium lenses perfect for bright light conditions and the neutral tone will prevent your eyes from straining. The Oakley Fathom Dispatch II Sunglasses are a little different; they feature interchangeable icons and a more laid back, almost subtle colour scheme whilst still retaining the slightly ‘wacky’ appearance of the Fathom collection.
Oakley have not only provided lifestyle frames in this collection and the Oakley Fathom Racing Jacket Sunglasses and Oakley Fathom Radarlock Path Sunglasses fly the flag for the sports performance range. Switchlock Technology is included on both of these pairs and this allows for easy lens interchangeability meaning that you can change your lenses depending on the ever changing light conditions. This collection will be hitting the shelves very soon and if you follow us on Facebook and Twitter you will be kept updated daily…

Women’s Sunglasses are tricky to conquer, however Oakley Sunglasses are doing just that with their new Oakley LBD Sunglasses! The squared off, classically styled sunglasses are a breath of fresh air in the women’s sunglass range as they take all the design features of regular frames and combine them seamlessly with Oakley’s innovative technology. Flowing lines and tapered arms frame the rectangular lenses for a look which will compliment the vast majority of face shapes and sizes; an invaluable asset for the fashion focussed fashionistas out there!
The frames themselves are made from Oakley’s patented O Matter plastic compound; a material which is conveniently flexible whilst being durable and safe for everyday use. From being bumped around in a handbag, to bring dropped off a skyscraper; the Oakley LBD Sunglasses are designed to take it. Impact resistant to the same level as industrial strength eyewear, you can be assured that your eyes are 100% safe and sound at all times whilst wearing these amazing sunglasses. Oakley have then adorned the frame with Unobtanium nosepads, a ground-breaking rubber composite which will actually absorb moisture and stick to your face, allowing you to wear the sunglasses for any kind of active or lifestyle activities.
As if Oakley weren’t treating you to enough amazing technology already, they have then added their patented Plutonite lenses to the Oakley LBD Sunglasses; the same lenses used in their high end sports performance gear too! Oakley have 600 patents on their lenses alone, so you can be confident in the knowledge that you are wearing some of the best eyewear and lenses the world has ever seen. This is mainly due to the optical correctness you are receiving with Plutonite; it utilises HD and XYZ optics to keep your sight clear and uninterrupted right up the very edge of your periphery for unrivalled clarity. Completely correcting refraction of light as it passes through the lens, the Oakley LBD Sunglasses will cut out any of those annoying sunglass headaches or eye strains that you may get with other often cheaper brands.
Plutonite itself is completely UVA, UVB and UVC protective meaning that even if the sunglasses get scratched, chipped or damaged your eyes will still be 100% protected from the harmful UV rays! These are the perfect set of sunglasses for any discerning lady and are more than suitable for everyday use, right up to some sport applications. Brand new to Shade Station, the Oakley LBD Sunglasses are sure to fly off the cyber shelves, so get your pre-order in quick.

A new year brings a brand new range of Oakley Sunglasses and what a year it is lining up to be already! Combinations of classic revamps and awesome new styles make for a season to remember for Oakley and here at Shade Station we like to ensure that you get the inside scoop before anyone else. Oakley are always pushing the boundaries and taking their sunglasses ‘Beyond Reason’, however there are a couple of models in this range which go above and beyond even this; styles such as Plaintiff Squared, Offshoot, Jupiter Factory Lite and News Flash are all thrown into the spotlight while new ladies sunglasses such as Given, Obsessed and LBD support the already innovative and expansive women’s collection.
Lets start by looking at the Oakley Plaintiff Squared Sunglasses, a pioneering twist on the Plaintiff – Oakley’s rendition of the classic teardrop shaped ‘Aviator’ style sunglasses. The first noticeable difference is the lenses and as you will see; the change of shape gives them a whole new persona. This ’squaring off’ technique makes them suit the vast majority of head and face shapes and Oakley’s patented three-point fit system means that they will always fit! Made from the incredibly strong yet flexible C-5 Metal Alloy material, the Oakley Plaintiff Squared Sunglasses are set to really take off in 2013.
In the Autumn of 2012 we were treated to the release of the Oakley Big Taco Sunglasses, a larger framed sunglass which has a shed load of personality. This year Oakley have taken the Big Taco and moulded it into the Oakley Offshoot Sunglasses; they feature a shield lens and give the user an amazing field of view and visual clarity. As with all Oakley Sunglasses they feature patented Plutonite lenses which are made from a polycarbonate compound specifically designed to be tough yet optically correct. Oakley call this technology HDO or High Definition Optics, this means that light is not distorted as it passes through the lenses and you will have perfect vision at all times – completely eliminating those annoying ’sunglass headaches’!
For us however the most exciting new release has to be the Oakley Jupiter Factory Lite Sunglasses, which are in fact a UK exclusive right here at Shade Station! Made from real Carbon Fibre and CNC machined aluminum, they are ultra-lightweight yet amazingly durable and have been tooled with tolerances of just 0.0005″! Oakley have fitted the frames with Twin Shock Hinges which were inspired by the leaf springs of professional racing machines and their flexible titanium alloy ensures a comfortable fit while providing a degree of hyper-flexing when necessary. On top of this, they have also been engineered with Unobtanium components on the arms to keep them secure on your head at all times. Unobtanium is Oakley’s patented rubber and is made from a compound which actually grips to your head the more it gets wet; allowing you to exert yourself and still have peace of mind that your sunglasses will stay put.
Taking a closer look at the new Oakley ladies sunglasses, it is clear to see that they have honed in on the all important trend and styling element; utilising ideas from the more fashion focused sunglass brands and combining them with their own innovative technology. One of the most exciting new styles are the Oakley News Flash Sunglasses which take a classic shape and given it a complete overhaul; adding striking temple designs and shapes to give the News Flash Sunglasses that added dimension. Colours are used to fantastic effect with multi-toned frames and conveniently practical lenses. The Oakley News Flash Sunglasses are made from Oakley’s patented O Matter frame material; a compound which is incredibly strong yet durable and which is tested to the same degree as industrial strength eyewear!
Much like the Oakley Daisy Chain Sunglasses, the Oakley Given Sunglasses use the classic ‘Aviator’ shape lenses to devastatingly wonderful effect. The thin C-5 Alloy frames feature beautiful temple designs and the multi-toned frames appeal to even the most discerning lady! Oakley have not really been known for their stylish women’s sunglasses, but this year they have certainly put this right. The Oakley Given Sunglasses also feature the amazing Plutonite lenses and these are 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protective which provides complete protection for your eyes in even the strongest sunlight. Unlike many other lenses, the UV protection is not added via a coating, but is actually built into the lenses meaning that even if they get scratched or chipped your eyes will still be safe as houses!
Last but not least we come to the Oakley Obsessed Sunglasses and Oakley LBD Sunglasses, these styles are designed to be for the more fashion conscious lady and feature beautifully thin arms, trendy colourways and interesting temple designs. Unobtanium ear stem ends are Oakley’s injection of innovation on these ranges and make them undeniably more practical than other brands looking to vie for the top fashion stakes this year.
Here at Shade Station we like to showcase the best new sunglasses and it is safe to say that Oakley are going to really take the limelight this season. Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates…Happy New Year everyone!

Next Monday, Oakley are set to unveil one of the most innovative, ground-breaking snow goggles the world has ever seen! It is not just the best set of goggles to ever grace the winter sports scene, it is one of the best overall pieces of technology that has been released in recent history. The Oakley Airwave Goggles features a built-in heads-up display that mimics what appears to be a 14-inch screen seen at a distance of five feet displaying a wide range of imagery and information, including where a skier is, where their friends are, and even data about the last jump they took, or the last run they skied!
The Oakley Airwave Goggles are also compatible with your smartphone and allows you to read texts on the heads up display and even play music while you are boarding. This smartphone connectivity also allows you to find out exactly where your friends are on the slopes and the Oakley Airwave Goggles will provide you with the best route to get to them and in the quickest time. One of the best features of the Oakley Airwave Goggles has to be the built in Jump Analytics system which incorporates an accelerometer and a gyroscope to track how high a jump was and how it compared to previous jumps. The goggles also can show how fast a run was, maximum speed for a run, the amount of vertical drop in a run, a list of runs taken over the course of the day, and much more! It compiles all that data and can display it on demand – or it can save it for viewing later on the Airwave community Web site.
Oakley Goggles are going to be huge this season and although the Airwave Goggles may not be available until the beginning of the next ski season, you can buy a great selection this year including Oakley Airbrake Goggles!

The Paralympic Games were amazing, and even more so that they were on ‘home soil’ in London. This meant that the support from the British public, along with my family and friends was phenomenal.
The whole games experience – from the opening ceremony, competing, winning a medal, the closing ceremony and heroes parade in London was incredible – and definitely something that I will remember for my whole life – especially with the thousands of photos and video clips I have as memories too!
I shot my qualification round and finals matches wearing the Team GB Oakley Flak Jackets that were provided for me by Shade Station, and once more found them fantastic. I also used the shades for travelling around the village and exploring the Olympic Park on the beautiful and sunny days we were lucky enough to have for the competition.
Once more I would like to say a HUGE ‘Thank you’ to Shade Station for providing me with the Oakleys to use in the Paralympics. I know they helped with my training, vision and clarity in my prep leading up to the games, and definitely helped me to win my silver medal too!

Oakley Watches are renowned for their incredible build quality, bold styling and cutting edge technology which is why it is clear to see that the Oakley Transfer Case Watch is set to be a big hitter! The Swiss Made quartz movement is juxtaposed with sleek Oakley styling to create a watch suited for men with a clear understanding of priorities in a watch; with its three-hand analogue display, the Oakley Transfer Case Watch respects the beauty of design simplicity, and the power of mechanized automation. Fans of the Oakley Gearbox Watch will not be disappointed; however the offset left-handed crown provides added comfort when being worn and the patented Unobtanium strap continues the luxury feel. Unobtanium is just one of Oakley’s many revolutionary technologies, a rubber compound which actually sticks to your skin when you sweat – without pulling at your hair!
The sculptured Unobtanium strap is finished by an impact forged stainless steel buckle for added security when being worn and the 100 metre water resistance lets you forget about the watch in the rain. Oakley Transfer Case Watches are now available for purchase at Shade Station, so make sure you get your own!

Shade Stations’ buying team had a treat in July 2012, not only did we get to view the new Oakley sunglasses styles first, we got to do it at the Oakley showroom on the shores of Lake Como in north Italy.
The weather was fantastic, as was the display put on by Oakley. To all intensive purposes the stand was a pop up Oakley store built entirely to showcase the new products. The picture is a sculpture of Oscar Pistorius who is competing at both the Olympics and Paralympics, and is one of the stars of the most recent Oakley ad campaign, ‘Beyond Reason’. The sculpture is made entirely from Oakley sunglasses lenses.
New products viewed and selected included, Garage Rock, Big Taco, and several new ladies styles including Forehand, Backhand and Twentysix 2. A new collection of Frogskins was also launched call the Summit collection, which feature a new matt metallic finish.
The trip was both enjoyable and exciting and we can’t wait for the product to start to arrive, most of which is expected in October, but is available to preorder now.

How can you improve on an almost perfect pair of sports specific sunglasses? This is a question Oakley must have been thinking long and hard about as they have managed the almost impossible and updated the Oakley Radarlock Sunglasses to make them that little bit better! The new Oakley Radarlock XL Sunglasses and Oakley Radarlock XL Straight Sunglasses have been designed specifically for use by cyclists and we think that you will be seeing a lot of them in and around cycling events next year. New innovations are combined with original Oakley technology to create an almost unsurpassable set of sunglasses. In this blog we will be focusing on what makes them so different to the original Oakley Radarlock Sunglasses and more importantly how they go above and beyond the call of sports sunglass duty.
Say what you see. The new Oakley Radarlock XL Sunglasses are just that…XL. Oakley have added a larger lens to the Radarlocks to aid the classic cycling stance of being hunched right over your handlebars. It is a common problem for cyclists that adopt this aerodynamic approach as sunlight has been known to creep in above the lens and distort your vision, which can be a very real issue for competitive sports men and women. Whilst travelling at upwards of 20mph, being blinded for a matter of seconds can have catastrophic consequences and it is no surprise that Oakley have heeded the calls of cyclists the world over. The new taller lens completely covers the top of your eyes, stopping any sunlight from weaning it’s way in. Of course, they still come with all of Oakley’s technology as standard including the game changing switchlock innovation which has seen the Oakley Radarlocks take off to sunglass stardom.
I’m sure a lot of you will have been following the Tour de France this year as British cyclist Bradley Wiggins stormed to victory, with Chris Froome putting in a valiant effort for second place! To these amazing athletes comfortable eyewear is essential for a good race and with the Tour covering a massive 3,497 kilometres, the Oakley Radarlock Sunglasses were the natural choice. But now, Oakley have taken comfort to a new level introducing the Oakley Radarlock XL Straight Sunglasses. The new straight arms fit snugly underneath an aero helmet and will not cause any unwanted discomfort and they also boast the XL lens for perfect coverage making them the obvious choice for any competitive cyclist. As with all Oakley sports sunglasses, they come with unobtanium earsocks; Oakley’s patented rubber which grips to your head when wet and will not pull on your hair, along with the unrivaled clarity and protection of High Definition Optics® (HDO®) for taking performance beyond the limits of reason.
If you cycle to cycle to any sort of standard you will find the new Oakley Radarlock XL Sunglasses and Oakley Radarlock XL Straight Sunglasses to be an absolute revolution in comfort, style and more importantly practicality. Both styles are due for release in October and are available to pre-order right here at Shade Station today!
