Marc Jacobs Sunglasses – A Creative, Vibrant Approach to Fashion
As a designer Marc Jacobs is renowned for his ultra chic yet daring and sometimes surprising approach to fashion. Particularly in America, Marc Jacobs is one of the most highly regarded, sought after and popular designers and this status has certainly transcended to a global level with the designer being iconic and favoured all over the world.
The style of Marc Jacobs fashion is very much of the tone that you can’t miss it – his creations are designed to be noticed, and this is definitely reflected at the twice yearly Fashion Weeks whereby Jacobs often stuns and dazzles the rows of fashion mavens with his eclectic but ultra sophisticated pieces and unpredictable creations. The mystique of Marc is also heightened with the use of unconventional choices of models used in his advertising campaigns including Charlotte Rampling, Dakota Fanning and Victoria Beckham.
The collection of Marc Jacobs sunglasses are a reflection of his general approach to fashion but are incredibly wearable and convey the wearer’s superior and refined taste of style. With a high-end finish, the designs range from the classically oversized MMJ127 to the dramatically oversized and new for this season MMJ153 sunglasses with their ultra slim frames and arms and vibrant and on-trend colour combinations. There are also a range of retro inspired oversized styles including the MMJ160 sunglasses and the MMJ132 aviator design.
Colour and pattern is a huge theme behind the designer’s work which is also represented in the Marc Jacobs sunglasses collection. Some sunglasses are bolder than others – a great example of this is the MMJ155 style which is reminiscent of the iconic Wayfarer with a black and white cloud patterned frame and arms. This is a fun and youthful style and reflects Jacob’s playful attitude towards fashion. Other frames also include colour and pattern but have a super chic finis
h which is perfect for adding a high fashion edge but vibrant element to your look.
Fashion is exciting and it should be a fun way of adding the spirit of your own personality into your look. Marc Jacobs perfectly achieves this with his range of sunglasses which capture the balance of being exciting and light-hearted whilst remaining wonderfully sophisticated, super trendy and stylish. Combining patterns, prints and colours is a key trend of 2010 and a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses will not only allow you to work the trend into your look, but the individuality of each design will see you through numerous seasons to come in flawless and striking style.

The famous designer Marc Jacobs was born in 1963 in New York and maintained a passion for fashion and design from a young age. He attended the prestigious High School of Art and Design and later the Parsons School of Design. Landing a role in the industry quickly, Jacobs’ first job was for the Weiser family chain of stores, Charivari and he was appointed to design and manufacture hand knitted jumpers for the store.
Marc Jacobs had proved himself to be a talented designer whilst at Parsons and upon leaving was contacted by Robert Duffy to design for the Ruben Thomas Inc Sketchbook label. The pair worked closely together, proving to be a dynamic team and together, they soon joined the label Perry Ellis whereby they were in charge of designing the women’s collections for the brand.
Marc Jacobs soon became a prominent figure on the fashion scene, especially following his rather rebellious ‘grunge’ collection for Perry Ellis which led to him being forced to leave the company in 1993. The singer-cum-model-cum-actress who has a reputation for pulling sickies left, right and centre has shocked everyone by showing up early at the studios to film her new movie – Labour Pains. According to co-stars she’s even learnt all her lines and has made some sturdy friendships on and off set.
It could be put down to Lilo’s levels of maturity, after all, she turned 22 just last week, however it’s rumoured the change in personality could be a result of the stabilising effect of Mark Ronson’s sister – Samantha. Rarely seen without each other, Lindsay seems to have lost her taste for men – big style!
One thing that’s not changed with her new-found sobriety is her style. A huge fan of aviators, Lindsay’s been spotted in a pair on every occasion- don’t forget sunglasses are the must-have accessory for hiding tired, hungover peepers, and we all know Lindsay loves a good drink.
If you’re trying to avoid the bright lights of the paparazzi, why not ‘do a Lilo’ and choose some aviators as your saviour specs. For versatility, Carerra, D&G and Marc Jacobs all have plenty of styles to choose from in various frame and lens colours. A great daytime sunglasses style, they look just as good on the beach as they do the streets.

Tags:Falling in love could see you starting to look at the world through rose-tinted glasses, but it would seem the latest trend for lovebirds is to actually start sporting matching specs. Only yesterday Kelly Osbourne and new beau Luke Worrell were seen hand-in-hand wearing identical yellow and purple sunnies. Catching up on a spot of shopping in Beverley Hills before they met up with Mrs O, we hope the Chanel boutique managed to dissuade the young lovers from buying exactly the same outfits too. It’s not the first time they’ve been snapped looking like peas in a pod either; last month they both left a Covent Garden nightclub wearing heart-shaped shades.
But it’s not just Kelly and Luke that have been doing a Posh and Becks. Model of the moment Agyness Deyn and best bud, fashion designer Henry Holland have also been pictured wearing near-identical shades, (and shirts, shorts, shoes and hairstyles), and Paris Hilton and Benji Madden have also been accused of falling victim to the latest fashion.
So why is wearing the same specs so appealing, and is there such a thing as unisex sunglasses? Well it would seem the answer is yes! Whether you’re rocking the androgynous look á la Deyn, or simply fancy borrowing your other half’s stylish sunnies, unisex shades won’t leave you looking out of place. And they’re more common than you think. Whether you’re a label lover or a plain Jane, brands including Armani, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Rayban and Oakley all have a fantastic selection to choose from. The only problem you’ll face is who gets to wear them first – you or your loved one? It’s only then when you’ll realise why a matching pair might be the only way to go.
