It’s a Flouro Summer!
Following a recent jaunt around London’s luxury west end (window shopping naturally), it became obvious that fluorescent clothing and accessories are one of the key looks this season. As lurid as it may sound, half the designers on New and Old Bond Street have said it’s so… DKNY, Micheal Kors, Hermes, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana have all embraced the trend with eye popping day glo window displays. It’s not often that sunglasses are required on an overcast Spring evening, but the windows of W1 were awash with acid colours so bright, dark lenses were entirely necessary!
We draw the line at luminous clothing (some things are best kept in the Eighties) however we can totally get on board with accents of fluorescent colour, if fashion demands it! So how best to wear the acid look? Accessories – including bags, sunglasses, watches, jewellery and shoes, are your best bet (see recent pics of Sienna Miller in her neon shoes or The Saturdays in their LTD Watches). A flash of luminous colour ensures you’re up to date and embracing the trend, but doesn’t scream fashion victim.
This look is great for the summer and particularly successful at festivals. Designer neon sunglasses are fairly hard to come by and you tend to have to buy cheap to wear day-glo shades, but concessions can be made with this fad and colourful sunnies will cut the mustard too… Brands like Carrera and Diesel are perfect for a slice of colour popping. The ‘Thor’ Carrera sunglasses are particularly bright with frames in clear bright pink, purple and blue and a further look through the collection reveals exciting designs with an array of colourful lenses and styles. For a slightly more feminine approach, both Marc Jacobs and Pucci sunglasses, incorporate plenty of colour and look fashionable to boot.
When it comes to watches, no colour is bright enough or too acidic! Like a little piece of sunshine on your wrist, neon watches are playful and hugely on trend this summer. Sporty brands like Adidas, Baby G and Casio, use bright colours often throughout their collections and LTD watches are colour saturated. But for pure fluorescent adulteration new brand Gio-Goi watches is the answer! In shades of neon – green, pink, yellow, orange and blue – these bold watches embrace this seasons flouro trend to a tee!
So the moral is; Accessorise your outfits this Spring / Summer with bursts of fluorescent colour, rather than an all-over neon tan, to avoid looking like an Eighties reject!

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Shade Station Summer Photoshoot!
Here at Shade Station, we’re already preparing for the summer season and recently held an exciting photoshoot showcasing an array of some of the hottest sunglasses and watches that are either available to buy now or will be in stock over the next month. The photos will be up on the site soon, but we thought we’d show you a sneak peek at some of the images and the designs to look forward to this summer!
We had two models who did a superb job of making our sunglasses and watches look effortlessly stylish! First we had Marcus, who aside from being a model is also in the band The Council, and Erica who beautifully modelled a wide selection of looks ranging from Hollywood glamour inspired to boho chic.
The brands appearing in the shoot included Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, Prada, Gucci, Adidas, Diesel, DKNY and Chanel to name only a few and the creative themes we selected were perfect to represent a cool and laid-back summer vibe!
The key sunglass styles to look out for this season definitely include oversized designs (for both men and women) as seen within the Tom Ford, BVLGARI, Dior and Oliver Peoples collections, sporty, as demonstrated in the Carrera, Dragon and Oakley ranges and colourful and retro – including Ray-Ban, Jee Vice, Pucci and Marc by Marc Jacobs. For watches, you still can’t go wrong with glitzy and glamorous using Guess watches and Juicy Couture watches as the perfect 
examples, and also for the ladies, androgynous watches are a hot look, as seen in the collection of Fossil watches.

It’s hard to believe that LTD Watches were only launched in 2009 as the buzz surrounding them has definitely been quite phenomenal, and the watches have been seen on the likes of The Saturdays, JLS, Dizzee Rascal and Jameela Jamil to name only a few.
Colour popping, sleek and cool, what is unique about the LTD Watch brand is that each watch is strictly limited to approximately 100-150 models and therefore, if you like a style you need to get in quick before it goes! Luckily for our bank balances though, LTD Watches have also become so popular because they are budget friendly with average prices ranging from around £45 – £170 (though you can find some sneaky LTD Watches on sale if you check out the LTD Watch page!).
The brand is constantly evolving and launching new collections throughout the year and the new designs for autumn are incredibly chic and can be described as ultra sophisticated in style which is perfect to suit the tone of the autumn and winter fashion trends.
We are very much used to vibrantly coloured LTD watches in tones such as yellow, green and purple to name only a few, but the new LTD Watch 280301 design which is a part of the new Steel collection, moves away from bold colour and features a gold plated stainless steel case and bracelet strap which instantly injects a chic finish to the watch and makes it h
ighly on-trend with retro inspired gold watches a must have accessory for this season. This design was also featured in the October issue of Artrocker. If gold isn’t your thing, you can opt for a silver version in the same style.
Keeping the coloured theme alive and prominent however (it is the LTD Watch trademark feature after all!), the new LTD Watch 091001 embodies the fun essence of colour with a pink polycarbonate bracelet strap and also features a silver bezel with ridged grooves which adds a dynamic combination of colour and texture and still provides that sophisticated finish. Adding a bold splash of colour can really liven up those muted tones that we’ll be seeing in autumn/winter so this watch makes for the ideal statement accessory. LTD Watches are made from polycarbonate material making them highly durable and robust. The more expensive range of LTD Watches are made from ceramic, which is hard-wearing, scratch resistant and very on trend.
Don’t get us wrong. With LTD Watches you are not buying a classic wristpiece that you’ll want to wear in years to come. The beauty is that these watches are seasonal. The designs are changed a couple of times a year and the colours refreshed. Frankly LTD watches are cheap enough that you can buy a new one every year if you wanted, however they are hard wearing and as such will last well beyond your fickle fancy!

Shade Station Heads to the Clothes Show London
LTD Watches - A Hot Favourite!
On Saturday, despite the raging sunshine, fashion prevailed and we took the opportunity to head out to Earl’s Court in London to the Clothes Show event which saw a number of designer brands and boutiques on show in addition to designers and stylists providing their fashion pearls of wisdom.
The event also involved a Fashion Show in the main theatre which used the theme of fashion inspired by countries including France, Italy, USA and England and presented this with a fusion of music, a dance troupe and models which really made it more 
of an all-round performance as opposed to just a catwalk show. The show was full of energy, fantastic choreography and amazing outfits – all accessorised of course with sunglasses, watches and jewellery in some of the hot styles of the moment!
We were very pleased to see an array of our brands exhibiting their products including Ray-Ban, Zodiac, Fossil, Diesel, Superdry, Adidas, Guess and LTD Watches. The Ray-Ban Wayfarers were definitely a hit with the eager style spotters – particularly the new and revamped colourful versions. Guess watches and Guess jewellery were also proving incredibly popular. The watch look that all the fashionistas are sporting this season are white or light toned chunky watches – polycarbonate bracelet straps are a key look and especially with glitzy diamante embellishments to add that bit of sparkle to a casual yet statement watch! I could hardly get a glimpse at the LTD Watch stand which is testament to how popular these strictly limited watches are. LTD Watches are highly trend inspired and the particular model that definitely seems to be a must-have this summer is the Maximo LTD Watch; available in a variety of vibrant colours and boasting a sleek yet chunky aesthetic. Watches Style Update – Summer 2010
Whilst watches have always been an accessory that most of us wear on a daily basis for both fashion and functional purposes, the past year has seen the watch rise even further through the accessory ranks with various styles of watches often being featured on celebrities and the style pages as the prominent and key must-have item of the moment. Here are Shade Station our collection of brands and watch designs are continually growing and this summer, we have more options available than you ever thought imaginable. For 2010, the major key watch look is all about vibrant colour, texture, and pattern with many brands integrating this into their watch collection, but in their own unique style.

This is a new and striking colour for 2010 with the main body and dial being shocking hot pink with moss green accents on the dial. With a magnified date window and three had Japanese quartz movement, this LTD Watch is both super fashionable and functional. Definitely a statement must-have!
White is a strong colour for spring/summer 2010 as nude tones were big on the catwalks and white watches are a huge accessory trend. With blue accents, this LTD Watch makes for a chic and fresh look that will work with any outfit.
