It is safe to say that Ray Bans are one of the most popular of all the sunglasses brands. They like to keep their look fresh and modern yet still retain the classic Ray Ban style. So what better way to update their shades than with a bold and vibrant splash of colour? For 2009 Ray Ban have released their most classic sunglass models in a variety of bold colours to appeal to the key trends this season.

The classic Ray Ban style is the Wayfarer and the brand continues to add new colours including blue, purple red and pink. The new RB2132 Wayfarers in neon blue have only a very slighted tinted blue lens so they look almost like glasses – a trend spotted on a number of celebrities recently and huge for this season. These are also available in hot pink.

The Ray Ban Clubmasters have also been presented in bold new colours. These classic frames which were popular in the 1950’s and 60’s have been seen adorning the faces of many festival going celeb and style icon in the new colours including all American red, white and blue plus brown, beige, green, purple and white. The Ray Ban aviator styles are also now available in five new cool colours which have a distinctive vintage look and great for adding an element of fun chic to your summer outfit.

Ray Ban is definitely a favourite choice among the celebs, particularly these new coloured versions. Actress Liv Tyler was papped wearing a turquoise Wayfarer style and Jessica Biel was seen out and about in Beverly Hills teaming her fushia pink Ray Bans with a super chic white coat. The new colours inject an element of fun and are perfect for the summer months. The music festivals this year are sure to be adorned with people sporting a vibrant pair of Ray Bans so why not get involved and add a splash of colour to your summer look?

Stylish Mr Kors

It appears that Michael Kors has every media angle covered… Having just displayed the goods for his acclaimed Autumn Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in the Big Apple, mid Feb, he can also be found on the judging panel for the television show Project Runway and as a regular contributor for Harpers Bazaar where he’s interviewed various Hollywood stars including Liz Taylor.

He certainly likes to keep himself busy! Kors’s stellar career bears witness to this. From the launch of the label in 1981, the designer has had his foot on the accelerator right up to the present day.

Known for his chic, luxurious all-American sportswear, Michael Kors began with a simple women’s collection and now boasts a very successful men’s line, and a stunning accessories range incorporating everything from handbags and belts to eye wear and watches.
The Kors label is very much focused on the fashionable jet set, with advertising campaigns depicting models like Carmen Kass on Safari in Africa, boarding a plane and kicking back on a yacht. The designers appeal is not lost on the A-list and an endless, glittering list of celebs have been seen clothed in Michael Kors – Glamazons such as Charlize Theron, Liv Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Anjelica Huston to name just a few. He also has a number of film credits to his name, designing clothes for Rene Russo in the fabulous remake of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ and clothing Cate Blanchett for the little known movie ‘Bandits’.

Like his clothes, Michael Kors watches are classy, elegant and fit for the A-list whilst always remaining faithful to the company’s high class leisure ethos. This year’s pattern ‘a la mode’, tortoiseshell, is prevalent throughout his recent collection and unlike some conventional brands, Kors’ timepieces are fresh and totally novel. Michael Kors evidently likes to play with shapes and textures and he is on fine form, splashing bone and snakeskin, textured gold and diamante across the collection. There really is plenty to choose from and should you be conscientious enough to purchase one, you can be assured of having the nattiest wrist wear this side of the pond.

Face Flatterers

May 16, 2008

In the same way you wouldn’t wear an outfit that didn’t suit your figure, don’t choose sunglasses that won’t flatter your face. Work with what you’ve got and make the most of your features, and resist splashing out on certain styles if you’re only buying them for fashion’s sake. After all, your face is the one part of the body you can’t cover up, and once you’ve planted a pair of whoppers on your mug, there’s no avoiding people’s stares!

So, before you start your sunglasses spree clarify what face shape you have, as it’s this that will distinguish which styles are winners and which are losers…

Round Face

Circular frames will only make your face appear rounder so steer clear of curves and opt for square, angular designs instead as these will make your face appear longer and slimmer.

Circular Celebs: Sophie Ellis Bexter, Kiera Knightley, Drew Barrymore, Charlotte Church

Face Flatterer: Dior Cottage shades

Heart Shaped face

To draw attention away from a wider forehead and narrow chin you need to draw the focus in towards the middle of your face to balance out your features. For this, thin rimmed frames and larger styles will work wonders.

Heart Shaped Heroines: Sophie Dahl, Michelle Pfieffer, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon

Oval face

Luckily for you anything goes as you’ve been blessed with the face shape that has the most balanced proportions. Experiment with the latest trends or choose squarer frames with rounded off edges if you want a fail-safe solution.

Oval Icons: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Bosworth, Cat Deeley

Square Face

A square face means strong, angular features so round, curved or wrap-around frames look best as they help to soften the face. Classic oval styles will also compliment your characteristics.

Square Faced Superstars: Demi Moore, Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock

Face Flatterer: Stella McCartney shades STM74 LITEQ

Long face

Thin frames are a no-go, but both round and square shapes will look great on long faces. Oversized specs and decorative detailing at the temples will also help to add width to your face.

Long Faced Leading Ladies: Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox

Face Flatterer: Bvlgari shades BV8012B 851/13
