Marc Jacobs really is the last word in cool. He’s a born and bred New Yorker and been cited as one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine, of all publications. He produces to-die-for clothes and accessories, not only under his namesake label and diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs, but also as Creative Director of fashion power house Louis Vuitton.
Where he finds the time to design watches whilst creating fabulous designs for 3 different labels we’ll never know, but find time he has. Marc by Marc Jacobs watches are bold, fun and flirty just like the man himself. He has designed a selection of wristwear for men and women in his own image. Slightly camp, black with injections of purple and accents of gold, the
Marc by Marc Jacobs watch collection is witty and appeals across the board. His diffusion line is deliberately cheaper than his haute couture label and therefore his wristwear is very affordable. Prices start from £150, which is cheap to bag some designer wrist candy.
Shade Station has a fledgling bunch of Marc by Marc Jacobs watches on offer, having very recently started stocking them. Amongst the most popular are women’s watches MBM1148 and MBM2044. Neither could be more different, but they are both highly sought after.
Style MBM1148 is a perfect example of the humour Marc Jacobs brings to his designs. He uses his ‘Miss Marc House of Cards’ graphics in a cartoony, graffiti style to liven up the face of the watch and surrounds it with a thick white band with ‘Marc Jacobs’ written in large lettering. There’s no mistaking who designed this one! The wristpiece is finished with a sombre black leather strap which works well with the outlandishness of the face.
Marc by Marc Jacobs style MBM2044 is rather more ladylike and refined, but nevertheless bold, with a deep purple leather strap. Mounted on the strap is the face of the watch in a rectangular gold stainless steel case. The watch face is simple with a gold 2 handed movement dial and some rather military issue gold writing depicting the Marc Jacobs brand behind it.
Marc Jacob is certainly one of the coolest, if not the coolest, designer to come out of New York. He’s loved by the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna, Sofia Copella, and our own Victoria Beckham among others, and although we covet his designer clothes, we can’t quite afford them – but we can now afford a little bit of Marc by Marc Jacobs on our wrists!

Ray Ban have summer stitched up!

If you’re not in Ray Ban sunglasses this summer you may find yourself in the minority… The Ray Ban craze shows no signs of abating – quite the contrary in fact as they’ve already updated their tasty portfolio of shades this year.
At the beginning of 2010 Ray Ban introduced their ‘Rare Prints’ range of Wayfarer sunglasses – a twist on the original block shades, with subway designs, floral motifs and stripes. In addition to some snazzy prints, Ray Ban have released the Wayfarer II, an update on the Wayfarer style with two tone coloured frame and arms. The summer is the perfect time to add more colour to your palette and Ray Ban make it super easy, as so many of their Wayfarer designs are colourtastic! Just pop a pair on and you’ve nailed a couple of trends in one go!
Most young celebrities acknowledge the style power of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and some are die-hard fans. Stylish men and women who wear Wayfarers include; Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, Dominic Cooper and Robert Pattinson.
Continuing with the colour theme and also picking up on our love for oversized shades, Ray Ban’s Cats 1000 are a great pair of sunglasses to cover your peepers this summer. With acetate frames, massive lenses and a retro style, the Cats 1000 come in a range of bright colours including acid pink and yellow, tortoiseshell and two tone.
Another hit this summer for Ray Ban has been their sunglasses style RB4141. A little like a re-worked Club Master, but with Wayfarer arms, these shades have smaller round lenses and smack of Sixties vintage with a new age twist. Worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Pixie Geldof, the perfectly round lenses are a huge trend this season.
And finally we couldn’t leave without mentioning our love of Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. The original and still the best – these beauties were designed for pilots back in the day and now adorn everyone from Cheryl Cole, Kylie, Tom Cruise and David Beckham. Loved by all and sympathetic to most face shapes, Aviators are the classic stylish option to some of Ray Ban’s wackier styles.

Lady Gaga Snapped in New Fendi Sunglasses!
Lady Gaga is certainly the lady of the moment in pop music and although famous for her talent as a singer/songwriter and an incredible performer, her sense of fashion is always a talking point in the celebrity columns and style pages! Gaga has become quite the buzz word in the fashion world!

Carrera Featured in Alicia Keys’ New Music Video
The Carrera brand though noted for its funky and highly trendy style, was founded in 1956 and the company produces a range of sports eyewear including ski helmets, goggles and sunglasses. The Carrera name was inspired by the ‘Carrera Panamerica’ which is a car race that covers the whole of Mexico. The spirit of Carrera is very much of the philosophy that its wearers have a huge passion and enthusiasm for sports and maintain the desire to be the best.
Carrera sunglasses are definitely one of the most fashion-forward of all of the sunglasses brands, especially those within the sports/fashion sector. The sunglasses are retro in style with funky and contemporary edges and are worn by a number of celebrities including Paris Hilton and Kanye West.
Carrera has very recently announced that one of the new frames within its collection, the Panamerika 1 design will be included in 12-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer Alicia Keys’ new music video. Versace Sunglasses – Sexy and Bold
Versace is arguably the best known luxury designer brand. The label is widely known to be glamorous, beautiful, sophisticated and luxe. Headed up by Creative Director Donatella Versace, who took over the family business following the death of her brother Gianni in 1997, Versace has gone from strength to strength under her guidance.
Perhaps best known for their daring, plunging eveningwear, Versace is comfortable in the limelight and the headlines, as movie stars and musicians clamor to wear the latest designs from the Versace collection. Current fashion favourite, singer, Lady GaGa is renowned for her very bold choice of eyewear. The sunglasses that she is seen in, in every promotional shot, video and out on the town are widely acknowledged to be vintage Versace.
