Posted by Dan

We cannot wait for the new ski season and undoubtedly the biggest hitter of the new range of Oakley Goggles will be the Oakley Airwave Goggles. This new piece of kit combines world-class performance, protection and comfort with a display that integrates GPS, Bluetooth and more with a host of on-board sensors to give you instant access to a world of information! Only a VERY limited number of these amazing goggles are going to hit the UK and luckily we are going to have an overwhelming share of them with 22 pairs, but make sure you act fast on these. We expect stock to almost run out before they even arrive as they are now already available to pre-order ready for October, and our advice would be to pre-order yours now to avoid disappointment!

The revolutionary design of the Oakley Airwave Goggles allows you to view jump analytics that show distance, height and airtime. With preloaded maps available for many resorts, you can find your location and even track others in your group. Additional sensor information includes altitude, speed and vertical descent data. Bluetooth connectivity allows pairing with a compatible smartphone for immediate viewing of incoming calls and text messages, and if your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone has music, your playlists can be accessed and controlled.

Oakley Switchlock Technology makes the lens changing process quick and hassle-free, allowing you to take advantage of Oakley Goggles wide array of optional lens tints that optimize vision for environmental conditions. The durable chassis is made of lightweight O Matter that stays comfortably flexible, and O-Flow Arch technology reduces nasal pressure to improve airflow for free breathing! Sneak-a-Peek! | POC Goggles

April 3, 2013
Posted by Dan

POC Goggles are one of the biggest hitters in the snow/leisure industry and their goggles can be seen on the slopes in pretty much every country! POC is short for Protective Concepts and they are developed to optimise need, function and protection depending on activity and conditions. Along with protecting your eyes from snow, ice, rain, slipstream, uv-rays, branches as well as assisting your vision in different light conditions, POC have worked on optimizing the field of view, for better periphery perception, fast reaction and therefore promoting safety.

POC Goggles have Double Lenses which feature an injection molded outer lens. This allows for a great variation of the shape and geometry, allowing optimized coverage and 3D shape of the lens. This results in better field of vision as well as better optics, since the shape can be optimized for the frame and the resulting distance from the wearer’s eyes. This type of double lens is die-cut. This means that the lenses are cut out from a sheet, allowing for a highly efficient production process plus great possibilities to change the tint and VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of the lenses.

Special NXT Lenses are equipped with a colour vision boosting filter – HCD (High Chromatic Definition) which has an extreme contrast enhancing effect and takes goggle lens clarity to a new dimension. To help you keep your lens clean and clear you will also find an excellent Oleophobic/Hydrophobic treatment as well as an Anti-scratch/Anti-fog treatment. Except for these unique “basic” features we also added a Photochromatic filter. The Photochromatic filter enables the lens to change the tint color depending on the current light conditions. Skiiers demand minimum refraction error, which is why race-specific lenses are made using only a single lens. Single lenses are generally known to have poor anti-fog protection, but the base material and coatings chosen for POC’s race goggles are the best available.

POC Goggles will be arriving with us in October so why not find us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram to be kept in the loop for when they hit the shelves…

Oakley Airbrake MX Goggles – New 2013 Release

February 20, 2013
Posted by Dan

Airbrake-MX-Edit-5Oakley MX Goggles have always been leaders in their field, however with the release of the Oakley Airbrake MX Goggles they have taken this status to a whole new level combining their distinctive technology with amazing styling. They are the first ever motocross goggle which features a ’spherical’ lens and as it is Oakley we are talking about, it is made from their fantastic and patented Plutonite polycarbonate compound. A cylindrical lens excels significantly over the standard lexan lens as it adds unrivalled optical clarity and undistorted vision; something that Oakley continually strive to be the best at. The issue with cylindrical lenses in MX Goggles used to be the ‘tear-offs’ which are so sorely needed when on your bike. If the lens is cylindrical, the tear-offs just simply wont stay on the goggles, however Oakley have once again solved this issue where others couldn’t, they have added a ‘roll-off’ to the goggles which means that the lens cover can be continuously replaced without having to tear anything off! This roll off technology is one of the first of it’s kind and has been refined beautifully to look good and be fantastically practical.

Oakley’s Plutonite lens material is world class and is literally full of amazing Oakley technology, including their HD Optics (HDO) and XYZ Optics which are so important when doing any kind of active sports. It is this technology which completely corrects any refraction of light as it passes through the lens to eliminate any optical distortion and therefore removing any of those annoying eye strains or headaches! Plutonite is also 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protective and this is built into the material itself meaning that even if you scratch or dent your goggles, they will still keep your eyes safe and sound. Impact protection is incredibly important in MX goggles as you tend to have a few scrapes and bumps out on your bike! Oakley’s goggles are impact tested to the same level as industrial strength eyewear meaning that even if something flicks up and hits you, your eyes will be protected; an invaluable asset for any MX rider.

The Oakley Airbrake MX Goggles are due for release in 2013 and we will keep you informed of any further updates as and when we have them. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for lot’s of cool competitions and goggle updates!

Helmet Compatibility – Oakley Airbrake and Canopy Goggles

January 31, 2013
Posted by Dan

Untitled-3Oakley Goggles are the very pinnacle of eyewear on the slopes with innovations that leave other competitors in the shadow of Oakley’s amazing technological advancements. Of course, there are many things that make their goggles stand out; from their bright and fantastic designs to their unrivalled lens quality and optical clarity. In this blog, however, we are focussing on the helmet compatibility of two of their leading styles; the Oakley Airbrake Goggles and the Oakley Canopy Goggles. Helmet compatibility is a huge concern for any snow lover as there is nothing more annoying than buying a new set of goggles that you love, only to realise that they will not fit around your helmet! With Oakley Airbrake and Canopy Goggles, this is very much a thing of the past.

Sometimes the simplest things really are the most effective, so Oakley have lined the interior of the headstraps on both goggles with strips of adhesive rubber; this grips to your helmet and will keep them in the right position…no matter how hard you fall. In addition to this, most helmets come with a strap holder on the back for added security and there is a space on the straps perfect for this clip proving that not much get’s past the designers at Oakley. These innovations come from practical applications of their goggles and an organic growth in product design which can only be achieved through the love and use of their goggles.

Untitled-7Untitled-4Untitled-6

Untitled-5

Oakley have made their goggle straps completely adjustable so that they will fit around the circumference of over 150 different styles of snow helmets, meaning that you are almost guaranteed to find a helmet that will suit. This is partly down to the amazingly flexible elastic used in their straps; maliable yet durable for maximum give and security at the same time.

It’s quite clear that if you are off skiiing this winter season, Oakley Airbrake and Canopy Goggles are going to be able to cater to any compatibility needs you may have and provide you with 100% perfect optical clarity at all times. January 3, 2013
Posted by Dan

Since the beginning, Dragon Goggles set out to be the leading eyewear and accessories brand in the active youth lifestyle market by supporting the best athletes with the best product, while remaining connected to core retailers and consumers. That mission still holds true today and is the driving force behind the company’s success and heritage. In 1993, in a garage in Capo Beach, CA, founder Will Howard aimed to build a company that encompassed his passions for surfing, snowboarding, and riding dirt bikes. Enthusiasm and knowledge of the market bore Dragon’s first and still primary product, sunglasses. The company began distributing to local surf shops before expanding to Hawaii and Florida, and later Australia and other international markets.

Dragon Goggles have amazing lens technology and provide fantastic vision for the user at all times. Their Dragon APX Goggles are an absolute revolution in the industry as it is the world’s first frameless snow goggle with interchangeable lenses! A vast array of colour combinations make Dragon Goggles some of the greatest fashion accessories on the slopes too; especially with the oversized APX style lens being very much ‘in vogue’ in ski resorts all over the world this season. Dragon’s spherical lens is as optically correct as can be and give you perfect clarity of vision all the way up to your periphery, an invaluable addition to any snow sport enthusiast’s armoury.

Fresh from Dragon this winter are the Dragon NFX Goggles which feature their patented frameless technology. No other brand or goggle can utilise these incredible frames and they provide clear vision all the way up to the periphery of your sight! The armoured venting system fills the user with confidence when skiing or snowboarding as they know nothing can fly in through the exposed vented areas and hit them in the face…definitely something to add that little bit more peace of mind out on a run. The incredibly flexible dual lexan lens is completely interchangeable and the vast majority of the range come with spare lenses as standard to ensure you have the right lens at the right time! Hypoallergenic fleecing lines the interior of the goggles and combined with the fully helmet compatible strap provides complete comfort for the wearer and you can now grab your own Dragon NFX Goggles right here at Shade Station!
