Fendi Sunglasses

The designer brand Fendi was founded in a small town called del Plebiscitom in Italy by a newly married couple called Edoardo and Adele Fendi.

Mr. and Mrs. Fendi opened up a small shop that specialised in leather goods and became renowned for their high quality bags and furs and the skill that was invested into crafting the products. As a design duo they quickly became very successful and the shop was incredibly popular and lucrative.

Spurred on by their new-found success, the Fendi couple had an ambition to grow the company and extend the product lines. Therefore they decided to open up a larger shop in Veneto. As the Fendi business expanded the notoriously high quality goods became even more popular and people would visit from areas far outside the area in which their shop was situated. Italian women were particularly fond of the exquisite style that Fendi had developed and it soon became the highly fashionable and stylish brand to be seen in.

1966 marked a significant step for Fendi as this was the year that the brand released its first couture line which was designed by the iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld who is now the Creative Director of Chanel. This line significantly raised the Fendi profile and established it as a firm favourite on the high fashion couture map creating a much sought after and high class name for the brand. The line was extremely popular and allowed the Fendi name to be spread on an international level.

Fendi became synonomous with the essence of A List glamour, especially following the line of handbags which were quickly considered the hot accessory of the Hollywood stars. The Fendi Spy bag is one of the most iconic Fendi products. In the 1980’s, Fendi expanded their lines even further due to the success of their ready to wear goods and designed an extensive range of coats, dresses, jeans, hats, shoes and accessories including the collection of sunglasses.

Subtle patterns such as flowers positioned on a corner of the frame also make for an ultra feminine touch. The double F Fendi logo has become incredibly iconic and this is often featured on the sunglasses, whether this being on the arms or subtly placed on the arm hinge.

Fendi is a great example of a brand that began extremely small and with the use of creative skill and high quality materials, it has grown over the years to ultimately become a fashion and style phenomenon that has an A List following and desired by every fashionista. The overall Fendi style is classic and sophisticated with a strong Italian influence and Karl Lagerfeld’s input definitely gave the brand that extra creative spirit that pushed it right to the forefront of the fashion industry where is strongly remains today.

In 1999 the House of Chanel introduced its first line of sunglasses despite the iconic designer Coco Chanel passing away 28 years previous. Inspired by her own creations, Karl Lagerfeld, at that point the creative brain behind Fendi, decided to launch a line of Chanel eyewear which has risen dramatically in popularity due to grand advertising campaigns and of course, being featured on the silver screen.

Every time I think of Chanel, I immediately immerse into a dream filled with luxury, sophistication and glamour. There is definitely no wrong time to be seen wearing a pair of Chanel shades – they are absolutely appropriate for every occasion be it the oversized frames or a chic visor style. The brand always exceeds expectations and with a range of diamante designs, luxuriously styled arms, intertwining C’s and the Chanel’s unique flower designs, Chanel is a brand which always manages to achieve classic styling with contemporary trends. Some of the frames are beautifully patterned with a crystal weave effect for example (as with the Chanel Sunglasses CH5145) and the iconic CC logo located on the arms. Let’s face it, a pair of Chanel sunglasses are a to-die-for accessory which every girl desires to own.

Indeed celebrities have a huge impact on establishing the popularity of a brand but Chanel is one of those classic labels whose identity will also benefit the celebrity spotted wearing it. A stunning pair of sunglasses, as we all know can make a huge statement about the wearer’s personality, status, wealth and of course style. Hiding behind shades might certainly portray an air of mystery, but can also reveal a great deal. The celebrities and members of the fash pack who wear Chanel sunglasses include Lauren Conrad, Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mary Kate Olsen and Anne Hathaway to name only a few.

Despite being designed and launched by Lagerfeld, with the range of Chanel sunglasses he has perfectly encapsulated the essence of Coco Chanel’s love of exquisite yet simple designs which portray character, personality and ultimate femininity. A pair of Chanel sunglasses will look fantastic for life and are a sure winning investment.

Metallic Mash-up

This season all that glitters doesn’t have to be gold – a splash of silver can go a long way too. And if you’re looking to add some extra pazazz to your outfit, why not mix those metals and go all out with a shiny showdown.

Your mum might not like it but it’s officially ok to combine the two without it all looking a bit too trashy (no matter how hard you try). Whether you pile on the precious metals in bangle form, or pick out a subtle shimmery clutch, you’ll find the trend will lend itself to every occasion and is one of the easiest ways to update your summer look – fact! Metallic magpies should also keep a beady eye out for multi-metal wedges, watches and sunnies, all of which will look gorgeous when draped over a tanned torso.

Glitterati fans of the recent trend include the oh so stylish Kate Hudson and designer’s dream Victoria Beckham, both of whom have been seen twinkling in the spotlights donning some fabulous silver and gold fashions. But as always, it was the catwalks that kicked off the clash. Dior, Lanvin, Fendi and Burberry all combined pewter tones with burnished bronzes to create show-stopping pieces that ranged from totes to tops.

All that’s left to do now is grab those two-tone treats, jump on that bandwagon and start glamming up your wardrobe!

Face Flatterers

In the same way you wouldn’t wear an outfit that didn’t suit your figure, don’t choose sunglasses that won’t flatter your face. Work with what you’ve got and make the most of your features, and resist splashing out on certain styles if you’re only buying them for fashion’s sake. After all, your face is the one part of the body you can’t cover up, and once you’ve planted a pair of whoppers on your mug, there’s no avoiding people’s stares!

So, before you start your sunglasses spree clarify what face shape you have, as it’s this that will distinguish which styles are winners and which are losers…

Round Face

Circular frames will only make your face appear rounder so steer clear of curves and opt for square, angular designs instead as these will make your face appear longer and slimmer.

Circular Celebs: Sophie Ellis Bexter, Kiera Knightley, Drew Barrymore, Charlotte Church

Face Flatterer: Dior Cottage shades

Heart Shaped face

To draw attention away from a wider forehead and narrow chin you need to draw the focus in towards the middle of your face to balance out your features. For this, thin rimmed frames and larger styles will work wonders.

Heart Shaped Heroines: Sophie Dahl, Michelle Pfieffer, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon

Face Flatterer: Dolce & Gabbana shades DG2027B

Oval face

Luckily for you anything goes as you’ve been blessed with the face shape that has the most balanced proportions. Experiment with the latest trends or choose squarer frames with rounded off edges if you want a fail-safe solution.

Oval Icons: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Bosworth, Cat Deeley

Face Flatterer: Fendi shades FS445 207

Square Face

A square face means strong, angular features so round, curved or wrap-around frames look best as they help to soften the face. Classic oval styles will also compliment your characteristics.

Square Faced Superstars: Demi Moore, Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock

Face Flatterer: Stella McCartney shades STM74 LITEQ

Long face

Thin frames are a no-go, but both round and square shapes will look great on long faces. Oversized specs and decorative detailing at the temples will also help to add width to your face.

Long Faced Leading Ladies: Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox

Face Flatterer: Bvlgari shades BV8012B 851/13
