Sunglasses Style at the 2012 Ryder Cup
José María Olazábal’s team where wearing Seve Ballesteros’s outfit at this weekends Ryder Cup and pulled of one of the most remarkable and memorable comebacks in the history of the Ryder Cup.
Europe where 10-6 down by the time Sunday came around. To come back from this 8 out of 12 points where needed on the Sunday to equal the biggest comeback margin since the United States did it in 1999. Europe ended the days play with 8.5 points winning the Ryder Cup out right. The Americans had it all to lose and nerves where brewing as the day came to a close at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
Due to the point deficit Europe needed an amazing start to have any chance at a comeback. The team did their captain proud and won the first five of twelve matches neutralising golfing heavyweights such as Phil Mickleson and Bubba Watson. Watson, first up on Sunday was up against Europe’s strongest golfer Luke Donald who beat Watson 2&1.
The man in the papers Monday morning will be Rory McIlroy. He mixed up his time zones and almost missed his 11:30 tee off time. He thought he was out at 12:30. Rushed in by a police car McIlroy raced to the course for the third match and pulled off one amazing round of golf, not putting one foot wrong and winning 2&1 against PGA tour hot shot Keegan Bradley. McIlroy wears Oakley sunglasses for the highest possible performance whilst playing. Europe team mate Ian Poulter; also an avid Oakley wearer put together the best four rounds of his life, beating Webb Simpson by two holes and not losing all weekend.
The closing ceremony showed Europe all suited and booted still in the Seve Ballestero’s colours known as Seve Blue whilst sporting some lovely sunglasses. Shown in the picture Rory McIlroy is sporting some Oakley Jupiter Squared and Graeme McDowell is wearing some stylish Emporio Armani sunglasses. The Ryder cup is now back in Europe where it will stay for the next two years until the golf clubs are back out in 2014 for the European Ryder Cup.
Shade Station would like to be one of the first to congratulate all of the European team on this monumental victory.
