It’s a Flouro Summer!

Following a recent jaunt around London’s luxury west end (window shopping naturally), it became obvious that fluorescent clothing and accessories are one of the key looks this season. As lurid as it may sound, half the designers on New and Old Bond Street have said it’s so… DKNY, Micheal Kors, Hermes, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana have all embraced the trend with eye popping day glo window displays. It’s not often that sunglasses are required on an overcast Spring evening, but the windows of W1 were awash with acid colours so bright, dark lenses were entirely necessary!
We draw the line at luminous clothing (some things are best kept in the Eighties) however we can totally get on board with accents of fluorescent colour, if fashion demands it! So how best to wear the acid look? Accessories – including bags, sunglasses, watches, jewellery and shoes, are your best bet (see recent pics of Sienna Miller in her neon shoes or The Saturdays in their LTD Watches). A flash of luminous colour ensures you’re up to date and embracing the trend, but doesn’t scream fashion victim.
This look is great for the summer and particularly successful at festivals. Designer neon sunglasses are fairly hard to come by and you tend to have to buy cheap to wear day-glo shades, but concessions can be made with this fad and colourful sunnies will cut the mustard too… Brands like Carrera and Diesel are perfect for a slice of colour popping. The ‘Thor’ Carrera sunglasses are particularly bright with frames in clear bright pink, purple and blue and a further look through the collection reveals exciting designs with an array of colourful lenses and styles. For a slightly more feminine approach, both Marc Jacobs and Pucci sunglasses, incorporate plenty of colour and look fashionable to boot.

When it comes to watches, no colour is bright enough or too acidic! Like a little piece of sunshine on your wrist, neon watches are playful and hugely on trend this summer. Sporty brands like Adidas, Baby G and Casio, use bright colours often throughout their collections and LTD watches are colour saturated. But for pure fluorescent adulteration new brand Gio-Goi watches is the answer! In shades of neon – green, pink, yellow, orange and blue – these bold watches embrace this seasons flouro trend to a tee!
So the moral is; Accessorise your outfits this Spring / Summer with bursts of fluorescent colour, rather than an all-over neon tan, to avoid looking like an Eighties reject!
Dolce and Gabbana The Sicillian Masters of Fashion
Dolce and Gabbana Sunglasses
Those Sicilian boys have some friends in high places. Not content with setting the world alight with their fashion threads, Dolce and Gabbana are fierce collaborators with some of Pop’s greatest stars.
In her biggest tour to date the ‘Aphrodite – Les Folies’ World Tour, Kylie Minogue has teamed up with D&G to design all her costumes. With Greek mythology as the inspiration, the Sicilian duo have created a mythical tour wardrobe fit for a (pop) princess. In addition to their work with the diminutive Aussie singer, they also joined forces with the Queen of pop, Madonna, last year to create a line of stunning D&G sunglasses. The designers have been friends with Madonna since the early Nineties, when they created all the costumes for her ‘Girlie Show Tour’ – however this is the first time Madonna has become involved in their creative process. Their collaborative line of sunnies are called MDG sunglasses and have been received well by both the critics and the public. The MDG range for D&G is a sophisticated collection of largely oversized sunglasses in varying prints and shapes, which wouldn’t look out of place on the riviera… or the Milanese catwalk….
Coming on to the Milanese catwalk – The Fashion Week spectacle has now seamlessly moved on to Milan and over the next few days the very best of Italian designers will be strutting their stuff at Milan Fashion Week. Naturally Dolce & Gabbana will be there along with the likes of Armani, Gucci, Maxmara, Prada and Versace to name a few.
D&G are showing on Sunday ahead of the 2011 Oscars Ceremony. It’s always a closely guarded secret which designers are dressing which stars for the red carpet at the Oscars, but there are sure to be a few D&G dresses on the night. D&G has always been synonymous with a laid back sexy kind of design, but they can really rev it up for the red carpet. Halle Berry is a big fan of D&G, as are Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway. However it remains to be seen whether the designer duo have collaborated with any Hollywood stars for this years Academy Awards… watch this space!
Crazy for MDG Sunglasses
MDG Sunglasses – Madonna by D&G
Well it looks like the Queen of Pop has another big hit on her hands… Following her successful turn advertising Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring / Summer 2010 collection, Madonna has joined forces with the Italian duo to design and produce a portfolio of fabulous sunglasses. With a history of bold fashion choices and a popular collaboration with H&M, it’s unsurprising that the original Material Girl has chosen to venture further down the fashion path.
Available next month at Shade Station, the MDG sunglasses collection consists of 6 pairs of oversized sunglasses that have had both fashion people and journalists gushing.
It is the first time D&G have ever ‘co-branded’ a collection and it is testament to the strength of their relationship with Madonna, that she is the first. Of the alliance they said “Designing an eyewear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. The oversized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo.”
The MDG sunglasses bear both Madonna’s name and the MDG logo on each arm and are definitely one of the hottest brands to be seen in this summer. Of the six styles, three are classic Riviera style, with thick black frames in round, square and oval with dark lenses. There is an unusual pair with transparent red frames and mottled red and grey arms and the final two are more ‘matrix’ looking with a metal top bar and graduated lenses.
The hype around this first MDG Sunglasses collection is enormous and we can’t wait to get our sweaty hands on these knock out shades! We’re certain this range is going to go like hot cakes so to be sure you’re in Vogue this Summer keep a keen eye on Shade Station…
Madonna Gets Domestic for Dolce & Gabbana! Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses.

The latest news on the Dolce & Gabbana front is that the iconic pop star and actress Madonna is the new face of their most recent advertising campaign shot by celebrity photographer Steven Klein. The campaign shows a series of black and white photos that feature Madonna in the kitchen and taking on a stereotypical role of a voluptuous housewife carrying out somewhat boring tasks such washing the dishes, preparing lettuce, and digging into a bowl of pasta.
The ad is heavily influenced by Italian Neorealism cinema and is to promote the brand’s luxury spring/summer 2010 collection. Including the new Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses range.
Despite the fact that Madonna is one of the most famous women in the world which of course will add more interest to the campaign, she is also provides a very symbolic reason as to why she should be starring in these ads. She is perhaps portraying the ‘Material Girl’ in a more domestic form and presenting a completely different side to her character which she por
trays to the public as fiercely independent and definitely not your average housewife! It also shows Madonna eating pasta which again, is something that we believe probably isn’t in her usual diet regime as the star is famous for her macrobiotic diet. The ad definitely conveys Madonna in a whole new light and she has always been a huge fan of the luxury brand.
The Dolce & Gabbana ad is typical of the brand’s elaborate and sophisticated campaigns whereby high-fashion advertorial photography is used and the audience is sometimes unclear as to what exact product is being sold. The images will be featured in the Italian version of Vanity Fair this week.
As a brand, the Dolce & Gabbana collection is incredibly glamorous and designed to create a huge style statement. The range of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses is simply stunning and there are some incredibly chic new styles to look out for which range from the DG4057 unisex retro inspired sporty frames (the pink pair are super feminine!) to
the dramatically oversized unisex DG4075 frames which are available in a variety of colours and patterns. Again, these sunglasses are retro inspired with their more square shaped lenses and reminiscent of Hollywood glamour. The new DG4059 unisex frames are also uniquely visually striking with the frames bending slightly inwards towards the arms and the arms then designed in a subtle wave style.
Dolce & Gabbana is a vibrant brand but one that always remains sophisticated and refined. Features such as interesting frame designs and the use of colour and patterns are ways in which the brand adds something that little more different and edgy and really creates a high fashion and polished look that instantly makes you feel like a star!

Scarlett Johansson for D&G
Italian fashion label Dolce & Gabbana is famous for its elaborate and glamorous advertising campaigns and past models and that have all made memorable appearances include Gisele, Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward. The latest glamazon to grace the billboards and silver screens as the face of D&G is actress Scarlett Johansson who is the perfect match for the sophistication and femininity that the brand aims to convey in its range of clothing, accessories, jewellery and watches.
There has been a huge issue surrounding the use of thin models in advertising campaigns and on the catwalks and therefore an icon such as Scarlett Johansson who is renowned and adored for her curvaceous, womanly figure and extraordinary beauty, is the perfect choice to represent the theme of D&G. The actress’s image is very reminiscent of 50’s Hollywood glamour and this is definitely the essence of the D&G collections with the watches being as sparkly, sophisticated and chic as ever.
There are some wonderful new styles to look for this season, all of which are perfect for the inevitable parties that take place over the
festive season and beyond. The new Flock D&G watches are both aesthetically stunning and practical with their silver D&G branded bangle strap and simple faces in either mint green or black. r if the attendees are seen wearing garments and accessories by the label. It is a brand which is always on the scene and people are constantly aware of its ever evolving collections. The advertising campaigns are also key to establishing the image that D&G wants to portray in the actual products – the elaborate settings, exquisite colours and romantic tone all help to convey D&G as a brand that is synonymous with all of these elements. The collection of D&G watches are the perfect way to capture a part of that glamour and the bold and unique designs which push design and colour boundaries really make a statement about your style. D&G Watches: Madonna to Become New Face of D&G

When you think of D&G you immediately think of the beautiful and the glamorous. Of course, when a brand is aiming to portray an image, it is therefore vital that they choose the right models, or in many cases celebrities to represent the brand. The Italian design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have announced the exciting news that the Queen of Pop, Madonna will be the face of their Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. In fact, Madonna isn’t new to the Italian designers as they collaborated with the star back in the early 1990s when they designed the memorable costumes for her 1993 The Girlie Show tour. Only last year, the design duo also designed costumes for Madonna’s return to the stage during her Sticky and Sweet tour. They feel that Madonna is perfect for the forthcoming campaign as the new collection reverts back to classic pieces such as their signature corset and Madonna is the ideal person to bring this back to the forefront of fashion.
Of course, Dolce and Gabbana clothing tends to be worn by the rich and famous and for those of us who aren’t the likes of Madonna, Isa
bella Rossellini or Tom Cruise, the clothing by the brand is a perhaps little beyond the budget! However, the collection of D&G watches are the perfect way of injecting some genuine A list glamour into your look and will be an investment accessory that will look timelessly fashionable.
There are some stunning new styles just in that are definitely worth a strong mention. Firstly, we have the new Flock D&G ladies watch, which has a beautiful pink leather strap towards the back of the watch with the front section featuring the D&G lettering logo in stainless steel. The new unisex Genteel D&G watch is wonderfully classic and elegant with a sports bezel and a tan croco leather strap. A timeless and versatile accessory that will look great taken from day to night. This style is also available in different colours. The new ladies D+G ‘800’ is the definition of glamorous and statement with its diamante petal leaf bracelet strap and case. The new Salome D&G watch is a great example of how the brand dares to be different and pushes conventional style and design traditions. The watch comprises of large circular links which are filled with black and white stones. The dial is simple and the focal point of the watch is the unique and striking aesthetic. The new D&G watches are perfect for the forthcoming party season and are truly representative of the chic and glitzy D&G style.
Dolce and Gabbana has grown over the years to become an international fashion powerhouse and is one of the first names on every star’s lips when it comes to an iconic designer label. The range of D&G watches are exciting, inspiring, glamorous and are real statement pieces that you would be proud to own for years to come. If you favour unique style with strong personality and characteristics, D&G watches are the perfect choice.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana know exactly how to create a stir. From their sexy designs and their sunglasses to their catwalk shows and adverts, the D&G impact is super and sensational. Known for the glamorous dresses they design and their big statement sunglasses, D&G have been wooing stylish men and women across the globe for over 20 years.
In recent years their advertising has taken centre stage, as their choice of models have wowed the public and been the basis for much admiration and discussion. You may be familiar with the name David Gandy. In 2006 he was recruited by D&G and has since been the face of D&G’s Light Blue fragrance, as well as taking to the catwalk for D&G every season. This delicious piece of eye-candy, originally from Essex, got women every wear hot under the collar as he posed seductively in a pair of white briefs and little else, to advertise the D&G scent.
In a clever ploy to tantalise the opposite sex, D&G’s next talking point came in the form of a pouting Marilyn-esque Scarlett Johansson, deployed to seduce men and win over women for the launch of their 2009 Cosmetics Collection – ‘The Make Up’. Chosen for her natural beauty, chameleon qualities and her sensual, provocative nature, Scarlett proved the perfect choice to front a glamorous D&G campaign.
And whilst Scarlett Johansson smolders on giant billboards and posters, celebrities get their D&G kicks in real life by wearing beautiful D&G dresses and hiding from the paps behind stunning D&G sunglasses. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, big screen sirens Jessica Alba and Reece Witherspoon and actress Eva Longoria all enjoy wearing Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses and the current campaign shows supermodel Claudia Schiffer, relaxing on the beach in her marble-effect D&G sunglasses.
So take your lead from the A-List and invest in a pair of super duper D&G shades… Not only are they one of the most popular labels to be seen in this summer, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses will make you look like a star!
