D&G Watches: Madonna to Become New Face of D&G

November 17, 2009
Posted by Laura

When you think of D&G you immediately think of the beautiful and the glamorous. Of course, when a brand is aiming to portray an image, it is therefore vital that they choose the right models, or in many cases celebrities to represent the brand. The Italian design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have announced the exciting news that the Queen of Pop, Madonna will be the face of their Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. In fact, Madonna isn’t new to the Italian designers as they collaborated with the star back in the early 1990s when they designed the memorable costumes for her 1993 The Girlie Show tour. Only last year, the design duo also designed costumes for Madonna’s return to the stage during her Sticky and Sweet tour. They feel that Madonna is perfect for the forthcoming campaign as the new collection reverts back to classic pieces such as their signature corset and Madonna is the ideal person to bring this back to the forefront of fashion.

Of course, Dolce and Gabbana clothing tends to be worn by the rich and famous and for those of us who aren’t the likes of Madonna, Isabella Rossellini or Tom Cruise, the clothing by the brand is a perhaps little beyond the budget! However, the collection of D&G watches are the perfect way of injecting some genuine A list glamour into your look and will be an investment accessory that will look timelessly fashionable.

There are some stunning new styles just in that are definitely worth a strong mention. Firstly, we have the new Flock D&G ladies watch, which has a beautiful pink leather strap towards the back of the watch with the front section featuring the D&G lettering logo in stainless steel. The new unisex Genteel D&G watch is wonderfully classic and elegant with a sports bezel and a tan croco leather strap. A timeless and versatile accessory that will look great taken from day to night. This style is also available in different colours. The new ladies D+G ‘800’ is the definition of glamorous and statement with its diamante petal leaf bracelet strap and case. The new Salome D&G watch is a great example of how the brand dares to be different and pushes conventional style and design traditions. The watch comprises of large circular links which are filled with black and white stones. The dial is simple and the focal point of the watch is the unique and striking aesthetic. The new D&G watches are perfect for the forthcoming party season and are truly representative of the chic and glitzy D&G style.

Dolce and Gabbana has grown over the years to become an international fashion powerhouse and is one of the first names on every star’s lips when it comes to an iconic designer label. The range of D&G watches are exciting, inspiring, glamorous and are real statement pieces that you would be proud to own for years to come. If you favour unique style with strong personality and characteristics, D&G watches are the perfect choice.

July 8, 2009

Wimbledon 2009 has been a scorcher and this rare display of great British weather has given us a grand opportunity to see just which sunglasses the celebs favour.
The first day of the tournament saw Jude Law hanging out with actor Jonny Lee Miller and unsurprisingly both opted for traditional and stylish Ray Ban sunglasses, with Jude modelling Wayfarers and the Trainspotting actor in aviators. The same day Razorlight’s Jonny Borrell was also seen sporting his black Ray Ban Wayfarers whilst enjoying the tennis.
Wimbledon appeals to all ages and older fans including Sir Cliff Richards, Sir Trevor Macdonald, Sir Bobby Charlton, Bruce Forsyth, Rolf Harris and racing driver Jackie Stewart were seen cheering on their favourites this year. In the younger camp Aleesha Dixon was in attendance, as was Sam Mendes and his Oscar winning wife Kate Winslet, who watched Federer secure his place in the semi’s. Ewan Macgregor was seen cheering on fellow Scot, Andrew Murray and both Eddie Izzard and Noel Fielding were spotted in the crowd at SW19.

This year’s celebrity talking piece came in the form of Justin Timberlake who took time out of his schedule promoting his ‘William Rast’ clothing label to support Andy Roddick on Centre Court. Displaying his usual effortless laid back cool, JT accessorised with a flat cap and a pair of Wayfarer style sunglasses with a stylish navy coloured frames. International pop sensation Grace Jones also rocked Wimbledon wearing an outlandish hat and oversized black sunnies.
To score your own fashion ace in similar oversized sunglasses look to brands like Gucci, Prada, Pucci, D&G and Chanel for classic ’leading lady’ style.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana know exactly how to create a stir. From their sexy designs and their sunglasses to their catwalk shows and adverts, the D&G impact is super and sensational. Known for the glamorous dresses they design and their big statement sunglasses, D&G have been wooing stylish men and women across the globe for over 20 years.

In recent years their advertising has taken centre stage, as their choice of models have wowed the public and been the basis for much admiration and discussion. You may be familiar with the name David Gandy. In 2006 he was recruited by D&G and has since been the face of D&G’s Light Blue fragrance, as well as taking to the catwalk for D&G every season. This delicious piece of eye-candy, originally from Essex, got women every wear hot under the collar as he posed seductively in a pair of white briefs and little else, to advertise the D&G scent.

In a clever ploy to tantalise the opposite sex, D&G’s next talking point came in the form of a pouting Marilyn-esque Scarlett Johansson, deployed to seduce men and win over women for the launch of their 2009 Cosmetics Collection – ‘The Make Up’. Chosen for her natural beauty, chameleon qualities and her sensual, provocative nature, Scarlett proved the perfect choice to front a glamorous D&G campaign.

And whilst Scarlett Johansson smolders on giant billboards and posters, celebrities get their D&G kicks in real life by wearing beautiful D&G dresses and hiding from the paps behind stunning D&G sunglasses. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, big screen sirens Jessica Alba and Reece Witherspoon and actress Eva Longoria all enjoy wearing Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses and the current campaign shows supermodel Claudia Schiffer, relaxing on the beach in her marble-effect D&G sunglasses.

So take your lead from the A-List and invest in a pair of super duper D&G shades… Not only are they one of the most popular labels to be seen in this summer, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses will make you look like a star!

D&G may be a classic brand but what makes it so unique is its creative ability to take traditional style pieces and turn them into something ultra modern, unique and dynamic. Renowned for its cutting edge, forward thinking approach to fashion, D&G’s jewellery line is certainly no different.

No matter what your taste there is almost certainly something within the collection that will catch your attention. Layered necklaces will be heavily featured on the catwalks and the multi layered gold plaited stainless steel necklace embellished with D&G charms is a definite wow piece and will completely transform a plain outfit or t-shirt. A further summery addition to the range is the white acetate bracelet with a gold plated D&G logo. This is a great example of how D&G have taken their jewellery to next level and moved beyond the colour boundaries of just gold and silver.

D&G is known for portraying an edgy street style and the more classic ‘dog tag’ chain necklaces and chunky silver bracelets and rings are the perfect way to inject a bit of urban chic into your look. For the girly girls, there are also delicate pieces such as charm earrings and necklaces which are wonderfully dainty and feminine and great for day time wear.

A-Z of Summer Style – cont.

August 26, 2008

W is for Watches…

…Along with ‘it’ bags and statement shoes, a designer watch is another must-have accessory in the fashion world. However, with so many celebrities these days endorsing the many and varied numerous brands and watch ads seen on every other pages of magazines, buying a watch can become confusing. Whether you opt for a simple classic or something with a little more bling, Shade Station has a fabulous range to suit everyone’s taste when it comes to wrist jewellery. Here’s a quick low down to help you choose the timepiece that’s perfect for you….

Spring/ Summer 2008 saw the trend emerging for female celebrities to dress down their girly outfits with a masculine watch. If you don’t want to wear a man’s watch brands such as Fossil and Seksy do some great mannish watches for women. The chunky leather straps and large faces combined with features such as gold detailing and coloured faces ensures they manage to maintain the element of sexy femininity.

If chunky is what you’re after but girly style remains high on your agenda, Ted Baker’s range is perfect. With the cut-out flower detailing on the leather strap these watches are bang on the floral trend for S/S 08. Funky yet functional, Nixon and Nooka’s selection of watches with their quirky face shapes, neon colours and bright straps are a must-have chunky watch for anyone who loves to be different from the crowd.

For an all-rounder watch that will carry you through from day-to-night, you can’t go far wrong in ditching the leather in favour of a metal strap. Guess watches with their embossed or jewelled silver embellished straps are fabulously affordable quality for those on a budget. DKNY’s dainty silver watches are the ultimate for understated luxury, also the perfect choice of timepiece to see you from desk-til-dawn in style.

However, just because watches aren’t probably the first thing you think about when accessorising an outfit, it doesn’t mean they’re not just as important as a necklace or earrings. So, there’s no exception to the rule either when it comes to your chosen timepiece – never mix and match silver and gold! Silver- coloured watches are simple to buy and are often more available in different ranges, whereas gold, unless it is real gold, can be tricky. If the colour isn’t just right or too shiny, gold watches can often look cheap and tacky, so purchase with caution. Seksy’s range at Shade Station is gold and glamorous and offers the choice of chunky and delicate styles for those who prefer their watch to be more of an understatement.

If you’re looking for something that’s classy with a difference, Michael Kors innovative use of bone-effect straps and tortoiseshell features are a sure fire winner for you. But if bling is you’re thing look no further than D&G’s stunning diamante range.

If you’re a great believer that a watch is an investment piece last you through every fashion fad and trend, indulge in a designer piece by Roberto Cavalli. For a watch that will go with any outfit, the classic black number is the one. Or for something more opulent that is sure to catch the eye of many admirers, the snake-effect designs are the epitome of the designer’s extravagance and classy in so many ways.

We Love Lilo

July 11, 2008
Posted by Becci

Lindsay Lohan is never out of the papers with tales about drinking and drug abuse, but it would seem while her mum and sister are jumping on the reality TV bandwagon, Lindsay’s changing her ways – for the better.

The singer-cum-model-cum-actress who has a reputation for pulling sickies left, right and centre has shocked everyone by showing up early at the studios to film her new movie – Labour Pains. According to co-stars she’s even learnt all her lines and has made some sturdy friendships on and off set.

It could be put down to Lilo’s levels of maturity, after all, she turned 22 just last week, however it’s rumoured the change in personality could be a result of the stabilising effect of Mark Ronson’s sister – Samantha. Rarely seen without each other, Lindsay seems to have lost her taste for men – big style!

One thing that’s not changed with her new-found sobriety is her style. A huge fan of aviators, Lindsay’s been spotted in a pair on every occasion- don’t forget sunglasses are the must-have accessory for hiding tired, hungover peepers, and we all know Lindsay loves a good drink.

If you’re trying to avoid the bright lights of the paparazzi, why not ‘do a Lilo’ and choose some aviators as your saviour specs. For versatility, Carerra, D&G and Marc Jacobs all have plenty of styles to choose from in various frame and lens colours. A great daytime sunglasses style, they look just as good on the beach as they do the streets.
