Glitzy Gucci sunglasses

May 28, 2009
Posted by sarah

Gucci’s flagship London store at 18 Sloane Street was recently treated to a renovation to bring it in line with the brand’s contemporary 21st Century image. The new-look boutique was unveiled on the eve of the G20 meeting in April, as Alexandra Schulman, the editor of British Vogue threw a lavish dinner for Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini. Guests and revelers included Sophie Dahl with fiancé Jamie Cullum, Claudia Schiffer, the Geldof sisters and Richard Ashcroft.

Just like their stores, Gucci’s campaigns are hitting more modern notes. Using a slew of hip stars to promote their fresh image, glossy Gucci ads have seen actress Clare Danes, popstar Rhianna and Brit model Lily Donaldson fly the glamorous Gucci flag.

Often going above and beyond her Gucci obligations, Rhianna in particular is a huge fan of the label. She is pictured regularly wearing Gucci and sporting the most up-to-date Gucci sunglasses. Other fans of Gucci sunglasses include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kylie, Paris Hilton, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Katherine Heigl and the beautiful Camilla Belle.

Often ostentatious Gucci sunglasses celebrate the label’s glitzy vibrant Italian heritage. Bold and strong with arresting detail on the arms, regularly incorporating the ‘G’ of the logo, Gucci shades are flash and fabulous. The new collection for 2009 is comprehensive and smart, using cut out detailing, hints of gold, hearts and baroque patterns. Colours are diverse, from black and tortoiseshell to red and white, there’s a shade for every fashionista. And the styles vary greatly too, from classic over-sized square and circular lenses and frames to blinged up aviators and a nod to the ever-popular ray-ban style.

Proving there’s still plenty of call for striking European style shades, Gucci have come up trumps with this season’s sunglasses collection and we urge you to unleash your inner diva and GO GUCCI!

You would probably never imagine that luxury Italian fashion label BVLGARI has been creating the most sophisticated and chic accessories for over a hundred years now – definitely one of the more classic brands! What makes BVLGARI so popular is its ability to take timeless styles and inject an extra wow factor every so often to make their sunglasses the height of fashion. Well renowned for being one of the more luxurious and elite brands, all the A Listers at some point have been snapped sporting a pair of BVLGARI’s – the typical oversized frames and daring features convey chic style, drama and ultimate sophistication.

An exclusive to Shadestation comes the jet black BVLGARI sunglasses – what makes these so gorgeously glamorous is that the signature BVLGARI branding is embellished in diamante stones. Very glitzy indeed! The new oversized aviator style shades with light brown lenses and swirl arms are stunning and little more casual but definitely just as chic. For a slightly sportier option the BVLGARI frameless visors are perfect but with a cool diamante design on the arms, that extra sparkle is still incorporated.

BVLGARI sunglasses are designed for those who like to establish their style with uniquely stunning accessories. The common jewel features on the various styles of BVLGARI sunglasses definitely add a glamorous element and a real touch of Italian class. Celebrities who adore their BVLGARI’s include Nicolette Sheridan, Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz, Tara Reid and Angelina Jolie. Definitely an investment pair of sunglasses, BVLGARI will keep you looking uber stylish and chic for years to come. Why not establish your style with a real touch of class!

Desperate for Dior!

Christian Dior. As soon as I hear those two words I think glamour, beauty, luxury and sophistication. The brand, whose designer was one of the most influencial of the late 1940’s and 1950’s (and one of the most iconic of our time), is created for people who adore fashion and thus Dior sunglasses are made for the fashion conscious. They make a statement and proof to the fact that practicality can easily be combined with striking beauty.

The range of Dior sunglasses for 2009 is simply divine and of course complete with an array of frames, styles and lens tints. One of the new styles includes the Very Dior white to gold coloured frames which are quite retro in appearance and the complete essence of glamour. Think Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) style in The Devil Wears Prada! The new Dorita 2 pink and brown design is also fantastic and has a funkier edge as the colour is graduated. The brown tinted lenses also make for a very sophisticated 70’s feel. Of course, the classic frames including the plastic edge Stronger style are still as popular as ever and the brand perfectly carries its own unique flair within all the designs within the range.

Indeed, function is important when choosing a pair of sunglasses but let’s be honest, Dior shades in addition to function are also heavily geared towards the wonderful feeling of owning an iconic accessory and looking aesthetically beautiful. They certainly achieve that sense of satisfaction! Celebrities who love a touch of Dior include Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Heidi Montag and Angelina Jolie to name only a few. Christian Dior sunglasses are definitely the perfect fashion accessory for those who value style, looks and creating an impact.

A Timeless Classic

August 6, 2008

Classic styles of sunglasses never seem to go out of fashion. An example of this is the aviator style which is as popular now as when originally launched in 1937. Of course whilst the original aviators are still frequently seen on the most fashionable of celebrities, during 2008 we have seen the styles slightly more revamped to create a modern edge. Favoured amongst celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel and Kate Moss the classic aviators come in array of enhanced styles including a more retro look, and with the oh-so-now plastic or embellished frames.

Of course, we all know that aviators are super trendy but they were originally created to serve a specific and functional purpose. First designed by Ray-Ban in 1937, aviators were primarily worn by U.S. air force pilots for eye protection. The size and shape of the lens prevents as much light as possible from entering the eye and reduces glare. Despite their significant functional use, the style quickly became popular as a fashion accessory and transcended onto the big screen with Hollywood stars regularly featured sporting them. Originally designed for men, aviators are now equally as popular with women making them a versatile and timeless style.

Aviators are a good style choice as they will never look out of place and can be worn with any outfit. In fact, classic styles are often commended and considered more fashionable than faddy styles which you wouldn’t be seen dead in next season! Therefore they make for a great investment and in addition are of a superb quality due to their durability. They are also fantastic for women as the style is versatile and will inject an edgier look to a feminine outfit. Aviators certainly make for an effective yet subtle fashion statement.

Face Flatterers

May 16, 2008
Posted by Becci

In the same way you wouldn’t wear an outfit that didn’t suit your figure, don’t choose sunglasses that won’t flatter your face. Work with what you’ve got and make the most of your features, and resist splashing out on certain styles if you’re only buying them for fashion’s sake. After all, your face is the one part of the body you can’t cover up, and once you’ve planted a pair of whoppers on your mug, there’s no avoiding people’s stares!

So, before you start your sunglasses spree clarify what face shape you have, as it’s this that will distinguish which styles are winners and which are losers…

Round Face

Circular frames will only make your face appear rounder so steer clear of curves and opt for square, angular designs instead as these will make your face appear longer and slimmer.

Circular Celebs: Sophie Ellis Bexter, Kiera Knightley, Drew Barrymore, Charlotte Church

Face Flatterer: Dior Cottage shades

Heart Shaped face

To draw attention away from a wider forehead and narrow chin you need to draw the focus in towards the middle of your face to balance out your features. For this, thin rimmed frames and larger styles will work wonders.

Heart Shaped Heroines: Sophie Dahl, Michelle Pfieffer, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon

Face Flatterer: Dolce & Gabbana shades DG2027B

Oval face

Luckily for you anything goes as you’ve been blessed with the face shape that has the most balanced proportions. Experiment with the latest trends or choose squarer frames with rounded off edges if you want a fail-safe solution.

Oval Icons: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Bosworth, Cat Deeley

Face Flatterer: Fendi shades FS445 207

Square Face

A square face means strong, angular features so round, curved or wrap-around frames look best as they help to soften the face. Classic oval styles will also compliment your characteristics.

Square Faced Superstars: Demi Moore, Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock

Face Flatterer: Stella McCartney shades STM74 LITEQ

Long face

Thin frames are a no-go, but both round and square shapes will look great on long faces. Oversized specs and decorative detailing at the temples will also help to add width to your face.

Long Faced Leading Ladies: Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox

Face Flatterer: Bvlgari shades BV8012B 851/13
