Style Update – Autumn/Winter 2012
Well we managed to make it through the, ahem, ’scorching’ British summer and now we are treated to some fantastic new releases for this Autumn/Winter! Here at Shade Station we have been raking in a plethora of new watch brands for you such as; Rotary, Mondaine, Luminox, Timberland, Tendence and Pulsar to name but a few. Classic styles have been fused with cutting edge technology to make for a selection of watches perfect for anybody and any occasion! With materials including ceramic, acetate and plated gold; this season’s watches are sure to be distinctive and the way in which these materials are combined massively adds character and the watches seethe with creative dimension!
Rotary Watches have to be one of our biggest and best acquisitions. Everyone seems to have heard of Rotary Watches and over recent years, the name has become synonymous with fantastic quality and sleek, often slim design. Rotary Watches have an incredibly rich history stretching right back to 1895 when founder Moise Dreyfuss opened his factory in the Swiss town of La Chaux de Fonds. Demand for his watches increased and the business quickly outgrew itself and moved onto bigger and better things. After being appointed the official watch supplier to the British Army in 1940, Rotary aspired to be the best and in 1942, they created their very first Automatic watch – a watch powered by the movement of the wearer’s wrist! Their famous ‘winged wheel’ logo could be seen everywhere and endorsement from famous faces helped them to horology stardom. Nowadays Rotary Watches are sold in over 35 countries around the world and have won countless awards for design and quality. Shade Station are proud to be stocking this amazing brand with such a vast and rich history!
If we are talking history, Mondaine Watches have by far one of the richest and most interesting! In 1944, Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss engineer, designer and employee of the Federal Swiss Railways created a clock which has become known as the “Official Swiss Railways Clock”. Inspired by this the Mondaine watch company, owned by the Bernheim family, took the blueprint of the iconic patented design of the Railways Clock and turned it into a watch collection. These watches are the famous clock in miniature and carry the same Swiss reputation of excellent watch making skills, punctuality and uncomplicated design. Mondaine Watches and Clocks have become known for their unique ‘58 second minute’, in which the second hand completes a full rotation in quick time! As the second hand reaches 12, it briefly pauses and waits for the minute hand to move before continuing. This fascinating and innovative method of watch production and manufacture ensure that Mondaine watches keep precise time, all the time. Mondaine Watches are simple, original and classy; a perfect gift for a loved one or a well deserved treat for yourself.
Luminox Watches have an incredible illumination system ensures at-a-glance visibility – in fact, the technology in Luminox watches provide a constant glow 24/7, no matter what the conditions are, for up to 25 years. Most other watches use luminescent paint that has to be charged by a light source and fades very quickly, or a “push to light” system, where you push a button for battery-driven illumination. Luminox’s technology was previously reserved for the military, but with a demand for this in the market, it was only a matter of time before it was made available to the public. Luminox understand that not everyone will be pushing their watches to the kind of extremes that the armed forces might, which is why their Swiss movement ensures punctual and efficient timekeeping, no matter what you do with it!
But it is not just new releases stacking up on the cyber shelves this season, we have all of the classics ready and waiting including Fossil Watches, Michael Kors Watches, Marc by Marc Jacobs Watches, DKNY Watches, Hugo Boss Watches, Armani Exchange Watches, Timex Watches, Adidas Watches and many many more! Fossil is best known for it’s vintage yet chic styling and with versatility that stretches from smart and sleek to sporty and casual, their watches would make a great gift for that special someone! As a brand, Fossil is distinguished in the art of watch-making; it’s superb styling is juxtaposed by using only the highest quality movements and their new releases for this season are destined to be show stoppers. Michael Kors Watches are one of the most coveted accessories for any stylish lady! Renowned for their luxurious colour schemes and individual material fusions they have become one of the biggest names in the fashion industry. Their materials used include ceramic, acetate, polycarbonate, plated gold and rose gold plated stainless steel but what makes Michael Kors watches distinctive is the way in which these materials are often combined, adding style and individual character.
Armani Exchange Watches are aimed more towards the younger man, with emphasis on a target audience who have a confident attitude, great taste, high standards, and of course, an eye for flawless quality. Their vast range includes watches of all shapes and sizes and their uncompromising search for watch perfection ensures efficient timekeeping. Alongside the watch goliath that is Hugo Boss, this season is going to be incredible for men’s watches. Hugo Boss watches are designed using only the most innovative and cutting edge technologies. The founder of the brand, Hugo Boss, was known for his attention to detail and each and every product was subject to the highest testing and quality control. This approach to designing and manufacturing has transcended through to the Hugo Boss watch collections and therefore every design is a work of aesthetic and technical art.
