Shade Station’s sponsored Paralympian Mel Clarke takes Silver!

Paralympic athlete Mel Clarke has made Team GB and the nation proud this week by scooping up a Silver medal in the Women’s Archery Final at the London 2012 Paralympic games! Only narrowly being beaten by Danielle Brown, Mel was still thrilled to better her previous record of a bronze in Beijing four years ago. She said “It’s absolutely awesome, I shot really well all day – I’m really proud of the way I shot” and continued by adding  “My family all experienced it with me, it’s not me on the phone at three in the morning, saying ‘oh, I’ve just won’. To share it with them and see their reaction was brilliant – I couldn’t have asked for more”. Here at Shade Station, we couldn’t be happier for Mel and everyone around her especially seeing as though we have been sponsoring her all the way up to the games.

We have been providing Mel with Oakley Sports Performance Sunglasses and Accessories to aid her in any way possible. Before the games, Mel was kind enough to write a blog about the sponsorship and she said “Shade Station have been a huge help, supporting me with Oakley sunglasses, which – with archery being an aiming sport are obviously a vital item to help me when training and competing.  As a visually impaired athlete also, being able to use the highest quality products to protect my vision when I compete is incredibly important to me.”

Mel is already gearing up to collect a full set of Paralympic medals with her sights set firmly on the Gold in Rio 2016! Everyone here at Shade Station has faith that she can go on to shoot for the gold and with the best quality eyewear, Mel has provided herself with the best possible chance.
