Shade Station introduces Danish brand Skagen

Skagen is a Danish brand founded by husband and wife team Charlotte and Henrik Jorst. It takes it’s name from a small fishing village in North Denmark called Skagen, where fishermen and artists have flocked for years to ply their trade and admire the natural rugged beauty of the coast line. The company designs high-end accessories, watches, sunglasses, and jewellery, inspired by the landscape and natural materials of Skagen and its native Scandinavia.
Skagen watches is one of the newest brands to join the Shade Station fold and their sleek, unfussy designs are proving very popular. Having recently won a international design award for their Skagen Denmark 809 series men’s multifunction sport watch, it seems the experts have also recognised the quality of the Skagen portfolio. Like most Scandinavian products, Skagen produce watches that are practical, simple and fluid. The aesthetics are very important to Skagen and the brand identity is strong throughout the collection. A mix of muted gold and silver stainless steel, black carbon coated stainless steel, black leather and white ceramic has been used for the watch straps and bracelets and the watch faces are very minimalist. The overall effect is a chic collection of mens and womens wristpieces.
Shade Station is also stocking Skagen Jewellery, which naturally follows the same design ethos as the rest of the products in the Skagen family. The Skagen Jewellery collection is full of clean lines, neat shapes and precious metal colours. The range includes bracelets, rings, earrings and necklaces. Within the Skagen earring collection, the real stand out pieces have a distinct art deco feel to them and this spills over to the necklace collection too, which reflects some of the lovely shaped earrings. The bracelet collection boasts some amazing mesh cuffs, which would look fabulous on tanned skinned either on holiday, at the office or dressed up to go out.
If you’re a fan of elegant, unfussy watches and jewellery, make sure you check out Skagen Watches and Skagen Jewellery.

Prada Sunglasses are always on-trend!

Prada lead the way when it comes to oversized sophisticated designer sunglasses. A few years ago Prada’s Butterfly sunglasses caused a sensation when they were released. Literally hundreds of celebrities were papped wearing them, including; Kate Moss, Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, and Rihanna and this fashion fancy diffused to the general public who couldn’t get enough of the unique and contemporary design. The Prada Butterfly shape, spawned dozens of copies and has now become a design classic. It is rare for a pair of sunglasses to make such an impact on the fashion-scape. The likes of Ray Ban’s Wayfarer sunglasses and Tom Ford’s Whitney sunglasses have both achieved cult status by creating a trend for that particular style of sunglasses, but it is an uncommon occurrence.
There is still demand for the Prada Butterfly sunglasses, but fashion moves on and the current trend is for large square frames, vintage looking cats eye sunglasses and also small round lenses. Prada has reworked their Butterfly shades for Summer 2011 to meet the demand for oversized square frames and has come up trumps with a number of styles that hit the proverbial nail on the head. Such styles are;
Prada Sunglasses PR03MS
Prada Sunglasses PR16MS
Prada Sunglasses PR18MS
These can all be bought in classic black and each collection has a number of different colour frames and lenses including purple and tortoiseshell. The stylish Prada logo can also be spotted on the arms or the hinge, depending on which shape you opt for. Songstress Taylor Swift has recently been spotted wearing a pair of the black Prada sunglasses PR18MS.
Whilst square sunglasses are all the rage, Prada has helpfully designed a pair of chunky, triangular frames, that tick the box for the cat’s eye trend. Prada sunglasses PR19MS are a nod to Old Hollywood, when the female stars were super feminine and personified glamour. With thick frames in timeless black, brown and a fabulous clear pink, it’s easy to spice up your summer with a little vintage Hollywood allure.

Sunglasses Fit For Royalty

With all the hype surrounding the Royal nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton this week, we thought it would be interesting to throw some light on the sunglasses the Royal family favour.
On the whole the young royals are a fairly sporty and active lot, especially Zara Phillips who represents Great Britain in showjumping and is of course engaged to England rugby player, Mike Tindall. Both Princes are keen footballers, skiers and fine polo players and Kate Middleton is well known for her love of sport, whilst Princess Beatrice became the first member of the royal family to run the London marathon last year.
Naturally active types gravitate towards sunglasses designed for optimum sports performance, so it’s no surprise that the Royals are often seen wearing Oakley sunglasses. Prince Harry is frequently photographed with a pair of Oakley sunglasses either on his face or perched on his cap and Prince William has been snapped skiing in Cloisters with Kate Middleton, wearing Oakley Straight Jacket sunglasses.
The blue-blooded girls tend to mix and match, favouring oversized sporty wrap around shades for casual and then large glamorous sunglasses for best. Zara Phillips is particularly fond of wrap around sunglasses and Oakley do a similar style to the ones Zara wears, called ‘Miss Conduct’ in their Active range. Kate Middleton is a fan of black oversized shades, any of which can be found amongst the designer ranges on Shade Station. Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana both design great sunglasses that Kate would love…. Rumour has it that Miss Middleton may be opting for an Alexander McQueen wedding dress for her big day, so fans of the Princess-to-be, may like to check out the Alexander McQueen sunglasses range too!
Prince Andrews daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie are also conscientious style setters, both preferring classic, but oh so stylish Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses.
With the Met Office forecasting rain in London this Friday, it’s doubtful we’ll see any Royals wearing sunglasses… however we’ll be equally happy checking out the fabulous outfits on display and Kate’s amazing wedding dress!

incredibly distinctive from any other brands in the fashion and jewellery industry. The collection incorporates avant-garde inspired patterns, with many pieces featuring statement cube-shaped finishes that are updated on a seasonal basis. Some of the recent pieces include up to eight coloured strips made of inlaid polaris and crystal glass and are available in vivid multi-coloured palettes as well as more discreet blue-grey and beige variations if you’re seeking something a little more subtle.
The Coeur De Lion brand is also renowned for its creative and stunningly presented advertising campaigns. The brand has even won awards for its campaigns and one of its recent ones has been produced by star photographer and Germany’s Next Top Model juror Kristian Schuller. The brand has received hugely positive feedback and exposure from the press and is definitely a prominent player on the fashion scene!
