Ray Ban Sunglasses at Coachella 2011

Ray-Ban Sunglasses
Once again the stars flocked to the Coachella Festival in California this April, to see the likes of Kanye West, Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire and The Kings of Leon perform. The temperature was soaring and the celebs, as always, kicked back in their best festival garb… Known for the great line up year after year, Coachella is also famed for it’s super stylish A-list party crowd, who set the bar high for fashionable festival goers throughout the ensuing festival season.
California’s finest kept it cool with loose flowing fabrics in soft muted colours like white, cream and peach, as well as teeny tiny denim shorts and quirky little dresses. All outfits were of course accessorised with the coolest designer sunglasses. With the mercury hitting highs of 40 degrees over the festival weekend, sunglasses were essential to keep celebrity peepers covered. Amongst the A-List, Ray-Ban sunglasses appeared to be the brand of choice. Actress Kate Bosworth is huge fan of Ray Ban sunglasses and was pictured wearing her Ray Ban Aviators all weekend. Known for her hip style Kate Bosworth is very loyal to the label and was spotted in the same Ray Ban aviator style shades at Coachella in 2010 too.
Another actress famed for her laid back, but cool, edgy style is Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten was spotted with her boyfriend Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood, rocking black Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses, whilst he was wearing a similar style of shades with red frames. Joshua Jackson, best known as Diane Kruger’s other half and for playing Pacey in Dawsons Creek is also a fan of Ray Bans. At Coachella he was seen relaxing in the sun sporting Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.
Ray Ban sunglasses are always a popular choice at festivals…. whilst the Wayfarers come in a multitude of colours and patterns and look ultra modern, the Clubmasters have a retro style which is very hip right now and the aviator shape is an absolute classic. Ray Ban sunglasses combine superb technology with an effortlessly cool style, making them the ultimate brand for festival revelling!

Introducing Dragon’s Fierce New Style – The Dragon Shield Sunglasses

The Shield Sunglasses - The only pair of sunnies you will ever need!
Dragon sunglasses are one of those brands that is constantly launching cool and impressive products, representing the latest styles that are hot on the style scene teamed with the most cutting edge technologies.
Fresh for summer, Dragon sunglasses has launched a new model to its sunglasses collection, called the Shield, which is a perfect example of the flawless Dragon style fused with the best lens technologies available.

What also makes the Shield Dragon sunglasses unique is that the design is the signature style of Australian pro surfer Mick Fanning. Mick worked closely with Dragon to develop the Shield sunglasses, and wanted to create a style that was technically innovative and superior whilst also being comfortable and a design that anyone can wear. It also needed to be versatile and able to be rocked on the beach, whilst out and about, when shopping, on a surfing trip or anywhere you can think of where you’d need or want to wear your shades.
Not only do the Shield Dragon sunglasses ooze fierce style, they also mark the introduction of Dragon’s latest and cutting-edge polarized technology, Performance Polar. Dragon Performance Polar offer all the benefits of standard polarized lenses, but boast added features to provide higher levels of function and an enhanced viewing experience for the wearer.
Here comes the science bit-: The Performance Polar lenses are more abrasion-resistant than most lenses, meaning they are more equipped to endure everyday wear and tear. The lenses also come with hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings on both sides to protect the surface of the sunglasses, allowing them to repel dirt, water and oils and make them easy to clean.
The Performance Polar lenses are available in a wide selection of contrast tints, colours and coatings, including Dragon’s Ionized Polar, a mirrored coating that provides added glare protection, a distinctive appearance, and a rich, cool finish. You therefore have a huge choice of frame and lens colours and are easily able to find a Shield style that perfectly suits your style preference – with the added benefit of the superior Performance Polar technology!
As quoted by Mick himself, “The Shield is only pair of sunnies you will ever need!”
These are definitely one of the hottest styles to look out for this summer, so make sure you check out the wide variety of colour options available.

It’s a Flouro Summer!

Following a recent jaunt around London’s luxury west end (window shopping naturally), it became obvious that fluorescent clothing and accessories are one of the key looks this season. As lurid as it may sound, half the designers on New and Old Bond Street have said it’s so… DKNY, Micheal Kors, Hermes, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana have all embraced the trend with eye popping day glo window displays. It’s not often that sunglasses are required on an overcast Spring evening, but the windows of W1 were awash with acid colours so bright, dark lenses were entirely necessary!
We draw the line at luminous clothing (some things are best kept in the Eighties) however we can totally get on board with accents of fluorescent colour, if fashion demands it! So how best to wear the acid look? Accessories – including bags, sunglasses, watches, jewellery and shoes, are your best bet (see recent pics of Sienna Miller in her neon shoes or The Saturdays in their LTD Watches). A flash of luminous colour ensures you’re up to date and embracing the trend, but doesn’t scream fashion victim.
This look is great for the summer and particularly successful at festivals. Designer neon sunglasses are fairly hard to come by and you tend to have to buy cheap to wear day-glo shades, but concessions can be made with this fad and colourful sunnies will cut the mustard too… Brands like Carrera and Diesel are perfect for a slice of colour popping. The ‘Thor’ Carrera sunglasses are particularly bright with frames in clear bright pink, purple and blue and a further look through the collection reveals exciting designs with an array of colourful lenses and styles. For a slightly more feminine approach, both Marc Jacobs and Pucci sunglasses, incorporate plenty of colour and look fashionable to boot.

When it comes to watches, no colour is bright enough or too acidic! Like a little piece of sunshine on your wrist, neon watches are playful and hugely on trend this summer. Sporty brands like Adidas, Baby G and Casio, use bright colours often throughout their collections and LTD watches are colour saturated. But for pure fluorescent adulteration new brand Gio-Goi watches is the answer! In shades of neon – green, pink, yellow, orange and blue – these bold watches embrace this seasons flouro trend to a tee!
So the moral is; Accessorise your outfits this Spring / Summer with bursts of fluorescent colour, rather than an all-over neon tan, to avoid looking like an Eighties reject!

Elizabeth Taylor’s Early Life in Fashion

The late Elizabeth Taylor was known for her extreme beauty, her many husbands, her two Oscars and her chic style. Born in 1932 Elizabeth Taylor lived through some of fashions most glamorous decades, which helped shape her killer style!
The 1920s and 1930s had seen the liberation of women’s fashion with shorter hemlines and loose fitting dresses, even trousers – and actresses of the 30s such as Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich would have influenced the young Elizabeth Taylor enormously. Coco Chanel would have been an early fashion favourite, as the designer pioneered comfortable yet incredibly stylish clothes for women.
In the late 40s fashion took on a more structured, sophisticated look following the war, with Christian Dior leading the way with his ‘New Look’. Worn by the likes of Veronica Lake and Rita Hayworth, the Dior label became an instant hit. By this time Taylor had become a star following her performance in the film National Velvet in 1944, and she signed a long-term contract with MGM, which brought her both fame and money.
She entered the 1950s as a young woman of wealth and could therefore afford the designer fashions of the era. Dior was a leading name in the 50s and labels such as Balenciaga, Balmain and Givenchy had emerged on the fashion scene. The style of the 50s was demure and ladylike with a bit of sex kitten thrown in for good measure. Nipped in waists were key, and big full skirts, kitten heels, little cardigans and dramatic sunglasses defined the era. Elizabeth Taylor’s slim curvacious figure suited the fashions perfectly and her beauty only served to highlight everything she wore. Taylor was also a big fan of designer sunglasses, and in particular she was fond of cats eye shaped sunglasses and oversized lenses. Of course these style of sunglasses were very popular in the 1950s and the 60s among women and are copied to this day. The recent fashion for vintage style sunglasses has seen Tom Ford, Prada and Dior all produce homages to the feline shaped lenses of the Fifties. Taylor’s film ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ is a great portrait of 50s fashion.

The 1960s was of course the decade of the mini skirt, as popularised by Mary Quant. Fashion became more colourful and fun, and the sophistication of previous era’s was laid to rest. Elizabeth Taylor’s most talked about movie ‘Cleopatra’ was released in 1963 and it was at this time that she met Richard Burton. The combination of the popularity of the film and the couple’s celebrity ‘power’ elevated Taylor’s status and as such she became a definitive symbol of the 1960s. Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses made their mark in the 60s and stars like Audrey Hepburn helped popularise their style.
During the following decades, Taylor’s acting roles began to dry up and she concentrated her efforts into raising awareness and money for HIV and Aids victims. To this day she is considered one of the worlds greatest humanitarians having raised in excess of $100 million for Aids related charities.
For all her charity work, acting and lovers, Elizabeth Taylor will always be remembered for her incandescent beauty and her incredible style.
