Remain on trend with Ray Ban Sunglasses
Remain on trend with Ray Ban Sunglasses
Whether you’re hitting the slopes or taking a winter beach break, your eyes need protection – and there’s no better combination of sun damage prevention and style than Ray Ban sunglasses.
Ray Ban was the very first sunglasses brand to introduce anti-glare lenses, initially to pilots and then to the demanding public. To date they are the sunglasses brand of choice for those who value technological innovation and hip design.
Ray Ban sunglasses have always been at the cut and thrust of cool. Adorned by actors, rock stars, indie kids and style divas, Ray Ban sunglasses have achieved cult status with many of their collections. Their Aviator sunglasses and Wayfarers have become the blueprint for contemporary popular design and both the High Street and top end designers model many of their own sunglasses designs on these popular silhouettes.
Ray Ban not only produce best-selling, ultra-hot sunglasses they also live the image. With a big presence in the music industry, at festivals small and large, UK and abroad, and links to the art and design industry, they encompass everything a modern lifestyle brand should.
Ray Ban’s Rare Prints Wayfarers are going to be even bigger news this year with new designs released imminently. Last years Floral trend remains big news this Spring / Summer ’11 and Ray Ban’s floral Rare Print Wayfarers fit the bill perfectly.
Another trend identified in our blog last week is bright colours, particularly white and orange. With the summer just around the corner stay ahead of the curve and get your hands on a pair of vivid Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses or even Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses with a colourful brow bar.
With celebrity endorsement from the likes of Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen and Kate Moss, you’ll be in good company wearing your Ray Ban sunglasses this year!

The Ultra Luxe and Exquisite New Bvlgari Sunglasses

Mariah Carey Rocks her Bvlgari Sunglasses!
Bvlgari sunglasses are quite simply, the ultimate in exquisite Italian style. Designed for ladies, Bvlgari sunglasses are elegant, chic, bold and incredibly luxurious. Worn by celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz, Bvlgari shades are synonymous with A list Hollywood style and can add a striking finishing touch to even the most casual of outfits.
Due to aesthetic features such as rich toned gemstones, elaborate hinge and arm detailing, and autumnal coloured frames, Bvlgari sunglasses are the perfect winter accessory, as despite the weather not being as hot as we may like, our eyes still need to be protected from the sun’s rays. Plus, Bvlgari sunglasses add the perfect finishing touch to a winter look, so it would be a shame to waste the opportunity to wear them!
There are a fabulous selection of new Bvlgari styles to choose from this season. First up, we have the BV8081B sunglasses, which in typical Bvlgari style, are oversized boasting a square shaped frame with a more rounded interior frame section to
infuse a sense of femininity to the design. The frame and arms are classic black, but rich colour is incorporated in the form of a large and stunning violet toned gemstone positioned upon the hinge. The lenses are also graduated violet for a chic and colour inspired finish.
For something a little lighter in tone but retaining the luxurious Bvlgari look, the BV8079B Bvlgari sunglasses feature a textured beige frame, purple arms and a purple toned gemstone embellished hinge. This style is more understated, than some Bvlgari styles but still oozes elegance, sophistication and the essence of true Italian style!
If you prefer a more sporty style of sunglasses but still want them to convey a high-fashion edge, then a visor style from the Bvlgari collection could be just the thing you’re looking for. The new BV6050B sunglasses for example, feature a dark blue upper frame section, a luxe blue gemstone hinge,
elegantly curving arms and a graduated grey lens. The ultimate in fusing stylish with sporty!

2011 Fashion Trends

Fashionistas sit up and take note! Those in the know have made their style predictions for the year ahead and it’s looking like another vintage inspired annum…
The following trends are going to be hot in 2011 and as always Shade Station have got the perfect pair of sunglasses to compliment all of fashion’s fancies.
Seventies
With the return of Biba and Halston in 2010, it was clear the era that gave us Studio 54, platform shoes and Saturday Night Fever was going to have a big impact on 2011. Already the high street is awash with flowing skirts, pleated culottes, retro colours, flares, headscarves and oversized sunglasses. In it’s new year edition Heat magazine encouraged readers to stock up on super-sized shades and Vogue.co.uk predict sunglasses to take on “exaggerated shapes…. the new shades have a quirky retro feel”. To channel Farrah Fawcett in her Seventies heyday, super-cool brand D Squared sunglasses would achieve the desired effect. And lovely Pucci sunglasses are also ‘very of the era’.
Ladylike Sixties and Pretty Fifties
With the midi skirt the length du jour, the full circle skirt remaining popular and pointed kitten heels replacing towering heels, 2011 looks set to be a refined year. In terms of accessorising your prim but pretty outfit, Fashionising.com suggest cat’s eyes sunglasses are the shape to be focusing on. Check out our vintage sunglasses section or our Marc Jacobs sunglasses and Tom Ford Sunglasses for feline shapes. For classic Fifties and sixties oversized sunnies hit our Chanel, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and BVLGARI sunglasses pages!
Animal Print
Another trend that is hanging on for dear life… Seemingly more popular than ever this year, shops are bursting with leopard prints, zebra, tiger and ever giraffe! If you’re wearing animal print on your person we would kindly suggest not wearing matching sunglasses and instead choose a pair of big sedate black or brown shades. However if you need to jazz up your outfit with a little print there’s plenty of tortoiseshell to go around! Almost all of the designer labels at Shade Station have tortoiseshell sunglasses on offer, however we particularly like Ray Ban’s tortoiseshell Way Farer sunglasses and Oliver Peoples shades too.
White and Orange
Maybe it’s because of the whole Seventies vibe going on, that both white and orange feature so strongly this year… whatever the reason it’s nice to see some bold colour on the catwalk. Ray Ban sunglasses are always on trend with their bright colours and Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Carrera sunglasses and Von Zipper sunglasses have some great styles with white frames too.
These are our pick of the big trends for 2011 so whatever look you fancy trying, remember, we’ve always got the best selection of sunglasses to compliment your style!

A Look at the Latest and Greatest Dragon Goggles

A Look at the Latest and Greatest Goggle Styles by Dragon
Dragon goggles are one of the most renowned in the industry – loved for their striking and unique looks and cutting edge technologies. Dragon has recently launched a fantastic array of new goggles this season, many of which are inspired and designed by some amazing legends in the snowboarding and extreme sports industries.
Here is a rundown of the Dragon styles to look out for in 2011!
Eco friendly E.C.O Dragon Goggles-:
Following the launch of Dragon’s first ever E.C.O (Environmentally Conscious Optics) sunglasses, the brand has now introduced a collection of E.C.O snow goggles. E.C.O is an initiative to help reduce our environmental footprint by exploring different types of sustainable materials and manufacturing methods. The concept behind the E.C.O Dragon goggles is to recycle old goggles and reuse the Polyurethane to make new ones.
Co-Op Skullcandy Dragon Goggles-:
Included on the Rogue, Mace, DX and DXS Dragon styles, these goggles come equipped with a pair of removable Skullcandy
headphones. Now you can get crystal clear vision teamed with crystal clear sound to provide you with a soundtrack to your snow adventure!
Rogue Danny Davis Signature Series-:
These striking Rogue Dragon goggles have been designed by 21 year-old snowboarding phenomenon Danny Davis. Born and raised in Highland, Michigan, Danny is the leader of the new generation of snowboarders, renowned for pushing the limits on and off the snow. The new ‘Steal Your Face’ styles are inspired by the music and artwork of the 60’s, with Danny’s own twist and originality.
Rogue Nimbus Co-Op
The super sleek 2010 Rogue Nimbus snow goggles have been designed and developed by Dragon’s premier free skiers Eric
Pollard and Chris Benchetler. Nimbus is a film company founded by Chris and Eric that focuses on the core community of free ski and documents their global travel and free ski adventures. This is the second year that Dragon has collaborated with Nimbus.
Rogue Onboard
The Rogue Onboard goggles mark Dragon’s first collaboration and competition with Onboard magazine. The contest provided one lucky artist the opportunity to turn their custom artwork into a limited edition Dragon Rogue snow goggle. The 2009 winner was Martina Scarpelli who won with her unique hand drawn pencil sketch artwork, and therefore landed herself a premium position in the 2010 Dragon goggle line!
Rogue TJ Schiller Signature Series
These bold and super funky Dragon goggles are inspired by TJ Schiller; a free ski phenomenon from Canada and winner of the XGames gold medal in 2008 and 2009. His signature goggles take inspiration from the early days of 90’s Hip-Hop (particularly his love of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air!) and street art.
Mace Simon Chamberlain Signature Series
Since his first breakthrough at the Nixon Jib fest, Canadian born Simon Chamberlain has become renowned in the extreme sports industry
for his exceptional rail skills. Simon opted for the Dragon Mace frame due to his love of the oversize fit. The striking creative theme behind this style is inspired by Simon’s love of urban street art.
DX Pirates Co-Op
Pirates is a grass roots snowboarding production company that was founded by premier Dragon rider Gigi Ruff and his friend Ludschi. As the name suggests, these goggles are inspired by all things associated with pirates! The goggles feature a pirate influenced eye patch on the right side of the strap, with the Dragon logo eye patch displayed on the left side. The skeleton arms on the right side of the strap extending to the skeleton hand on the frame represent ‘see no evil’ and the anchor pattern seen on the entire strap coincides with the Pirates Productions brand.
DX Wolle Nyvelt Signature
Austrian Wolle Nyvelt was awarded rider of the year in 2008. He also co-founded the brand Asmo, with his friend Steve Gruber. The Asmo brand represents Nyvelt’s love of the mountains and the ocean, which is definitely evident in the artwork on these vibrant goggles!
DXS Leanne Pelosi Signature
A style for the ladies, these goggles have been designed by Leanne Pelosi; a pioneer in women’s snowboarding and winner of
the 2008 Rider of The Year. Leanne is also the founder of Runway Films, the first ever all female film company. These goggles take inspiration from Leanne’s love of the 50’s mod trend and the art that was also prominent in that era. The design is directly related to her signature series with Dakine.
D1XT Jamie Lynn Signature
One of the ultimate snowboard legends of our time, these goggles have been designed by Jamie Lynn who with this style, wanted to express his admiration for the original Dragon frame. All the artwork is done by Jamie and the graphics are inspired by his first pro model board with Lib Tech Snowboards.
As you can see, there are some incredible Dragon goggles styles to choose from this season, all of which are inspired by a different person, theme or influence. Dragon goggles incorporate the latest lens and frame technologies and will certainly see you hitting the slopes in cool, vibrant style!
