The pink Vega Nixon watch is like bubblegum for your wrist. The watch itself has a bracelet strap made from polycarbonate and layered with hardened mineral crystal, and the rectangular dial sits neatly on top boasting 3-hand Japanese quartz movement and the Nixon logo in the bottom right corner in silver. If ever there was a watch that combined girlish sweetness with fierce durability and a conscience, this is it!
Nixon is a brand known as much for their enduring, fashionable wristwear, as their involvement in extreme sports such as snowboarding and surfing, so their partnership with ‘Boarding for Breast Cancer’ is a natural fit. The aim of B4BC is to raise awareness for breast cancer and the importance of early detection, as well as encouraging a fit and healthy lifestyle. With Nixon watches pledging an amount of sales from their pink Vega watch to the charity, we wish the union every success and would encourage everyone to purchase the candy-coloured charitable accessory!

On most, the dial is surrounded by a contrasting colour to add more vibrancy and on some, a ring of diamante encircles the dial. Each model is analogue, water resistant up to 50 metres and displays the adidas logo on the face.

These beauties sport a real retro look and judging by the name, the style is probably inspired by the 1988 Olympics in Seoul! Tom Ford sunglasses are the business. Always oversized and generally rocking a retro vibe they are the celebrity’s shade of choice. Universally loved by Hollywood’s leading ladies (and men), Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have all been snapped modelling Tom Ford shades in recent months.
Nicholas Hoult has become the poster boy for Tom Ford sunglasses, since starring in Ford’s Directorial Debut, ‘A Leading Man’. Alongside his female sidekick Carolyn Murphy, his face is regularly splashed across the fashion glossies and billboards. It’s certainly been an interesting career trajectory since his geeky turn in Nicholas Parson’s ‘About a boy’!
Tom Ford is primarily known for his menswear and accessories but this year he shocked the fashion world by throwing a surprise ‘Cocktail Party’ which was in fact designed to reveal his first womenswear collection in 6 years. Top fashion folk were invited to the ‘Cocktail Party’ which was held in New York and had all the hallmarks of a Fifties couture show. Ford asked women that inspired him to model his spring/summer ‘11 collection, among them were; Beyonce Knowles, Julianne Moore, Daphne Guinness, Lauren Hutton and Amber Valetta. Ford commented “I want to concentrate on real women and the real customer. It’s all about individuality, individual style, different body types, women who have their own style.” One official photographer was present to avoid press leaks and its rumoured photos of the show will not be released until January next year!
Such secrecy has created even more of a buzz about Tom Ford. If this story is anything to go by then every woman in the fashion-know is going to have Tom Ford on her radar! As is always the case designer clothes are way beyond our budget, but thankfully with a little scrimping and saving, designer sunglasses are not! With this year and next, seemingly obsessed with all things vintage, Tom Ford sunglasses are the perfect label to hit the retro mark. There are so many different styles and most of them are beautifully oversized which was such a common trait in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Here at Shade Station we are avid fans of Britain’s Next Top Model and were therefore excited to hear that Ice-Watch was the official timekeeper at Britain’s Next Top Model Live held this weekend in London. We headed down to the show, which was every style lover’s heaven and covered everything from modeling, fashion, beauty, entertainment and a few words of wisdom from the professionals in the industry.

The Chilean miners wear Oakley Radar sunglasses!

Oakley don’t miss a trick, if you’ve been following the miners ascent from the collapsed mine in Chile you’ll be well aware that Oakley sunglasses scored a massive coup the day they were rescued.
For 69 days the 33 Chilean miners survived half a mile underground without health care, sanitation and most notably natural light. During their incarceration the miners eye sight would have been weak and authorities were concerned of the damage daylight could have on their retinas once they surfaced. In order to protect the miner’s eyes from the harmful effects of UV light, Oakley entered the mix and donated 35 pairs of supped up, full specification, Oakley Radar sunglasses.
Oakley Radar sunglasses feature a single black Iridium lens that wraps around the eyes, ensuring the utmost protection from the sun’s UV rays, from the side of the face and directly. On the 13th October as each miner surfaced, they appeared from the hell hole with a grin of relief, sporting Oakley Radar sunglasses as the world’s press captured the joyous moment 33 times over 24 hours. The coverage Oakley have received for their donation is priceless and the miner’s can be assured their eyes have the best protection for the weeks ahead as they prepare to return to normality. In a show of solidarity the Chilean Minister for Mining asked to wear a spare pair of the Oakley Radar sunglasses.
