Big, bold and not for the faint hearted, Nixon Watches scream don’t mess with me! Watches this big and fat are only found on the most confident of men and like a piece of well designed ammunition on the wrist, a Nixon watch is programmed to attract admiring glances..
Nixon is represented by a host of big names, most notably in extreme sports and music. With Nixon teams established in the skating, surfing and snowboarding arenas, as well as brand representation within the music industry (the UK’s ‘Little Boots’, Mos Def and Santigold), the label has very much positioned itself at the intersection of urban cool.
Owning a Nixon watch will most definitely earn you style points among friends (and enemies). With all the mod cons, functionality and durability to boot, these watches are not only amazing to look at, but hard wearing and practical. Of course all this comes at a price, but can you put a price on style?! The Nixon wristwear collection ranges from a whopping £1,100 to a very reasonable £50. At the top end of the scale is the ‘The Ceramic Player’, a gloriously chunky, yet slick, white ceramic number with scratch resistant sapphire crystal, 3 hand Swiss movement and a face bedecked with jewels. We could see this little (big) beauty fit very comfortably on Mr T’s wrist in the new A-Team remake! At the very bottom is a completely contrasting wristwatch, with a no-fuss polyurethane strap available in a multitude of bright colours. Named ‘The Time Teller’, this Nixon watch is great for the 2010 summer colourful watch trend and cheap as chips too!
We cannot stress enough how great these Nixon watches are. Surely when your watch enters the room before you do, you know you’re onto something good!

DKNY watches are a wristwear portfolio with heritage and integrity. As part of the New York inspired label DKNY, their ultra feminine watches fall neatly under the ‘Lifestyle’ branding of the company. Created by one of Fashions most respected designers, Donna Karan, DKNY designs are the toast of Hollywood. Many A-listers have been snapped wearing DKNY including Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson, Ugly Betty’s Becki Newton and Kristen Stewart.
A DKNY woman is sophisticated, elegant and always dresses and accessorises appropriately for the occasion. It’s not hard when there’s an armoury of amazing DKNY watches to choose from! At Shade Station we have a fresh batch of DKNY watches for the summer, all at startlingly reasonable prices for a top designer brand…
Some of our favourites include;
DKNY watch NY4965
This is a striking, yet very simple watch in silver stainless steel. It is the wrist strap that makes it so special and unusual. The strap is made from rows of mesh stud detailing and the elegant rectangular face is framed by a thick piece of polished stainless steel. The white face displays the DKNY logo as well as the time!
DKNY watch 4933
Another sophisticated wristwatch, this time in gold plated stainless steel. The wristband is slim and styled with interesting intertwining locks and the dial is square with a thick gold frame encircling it. This style is also available with silver stainless steel and peppered with diamante.
DKNY watch 4913
This is the most expensive watch in the DKNY portfolio at £180 (reduced from £225 bargain hunters!) but it taps into the current trend for fairly flamboyant ceramic watches (think Toy and LTD watches). In black or white with a ceramic link strap, the face is round with gold detailing, 3 hand movement, a date window and a sub dial chronograph.
DKNY watches offer plenty of choice and are a great way to add a designer touch to an outfit whilst on a budget!

LTD Watches are a bright and breezy wristwear brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Which makes their fruity watches the perfect arm candy for a technicolour summer
You won’t have failed to notice that this summer’s fashion is slightly off whack. With mismatching prints, a rainbow of bright colours and a ‘give a damn’ attitude, fashion is more fun than it’s been in years. Finding a watch to compliment your seasonal attire has just got that little bit easier and in this budget crunching recession, the cheaper the watch, the wider our smiles!
LTD Watches come in a multitude of different colours at very purse friendly prices. These brightly coloured beauties start at £25 and you’ll be surprised to learn that you’re also buying into a limited edition piece. As the name suggests each style is on limited release and has only been reproduced up to 150 times. You’ll also find a unique number engraved on the back of the case, as proof of its exclusiveness.
For such amazing prices, you’d expect a catch right? Well not from where we’re looking. Each style has quartz movement, a magnified date window and is water resistant up to 30 metres. LTD Watches are made from polycarbonate material making them highly durable and robust. The more expensive range of LTD Watches are made from ceramic, which is hard-wearing, scratch resistant and very on trend.
Don’t get us wrong. With LTD Watches you are not buying a classic wristpiece that you’ll want to wear in years to come. The beauty is that these watches are seasonal. The designs are changed a couple of times a year and the colours refreshed. Frankly LTD watches are cheap enough that you can buy a new one every year if you wanted, however they are hard wearing and as such will last well beyond your fickle fancy!
Celebs are in on the LTD action too. Pop stars like Dizzy Rascal, JLS and Calvin Harris are all fans, as is T4 presenter Jameela Jamil, and magazines including Company, More and Sugar have all featured LTD Watches within their pages.

For all you fashionistas out there, you will be very excited to hear the impending arrival of Marc By Marc Jacobs watches here at Shade Station! Marc by Marc Jacobs is the diffusion line of the main Marc Jacobs designer collection and is incredibly fashionable on the style scene. Luckily for us, Marc by Marc Jacobs watches boast budget friendly prices, but still retain that desirable and sought after status!
One type of watch within the Marc by Marc Jacobs watch collection that particularly stands out are the jewellery inspired watches whereby the watch is also the pendant of a necklace and designed in the super feminine shapes such as a bow or a daisy (daisies are a typical feature within the entire Marc by Marc Jacobs collection). The watch pendants are positioned upon a stylishly long chain and are incredibly elegant but highly trendy and fashion forward in typical Marc Jacobs style.
The more traditional Marc by Marc Jacobs watches convey the fresh and contemporary approach to fashion that Marc Jacobs is famous for. With glamorous features such as gold plated triple strand bracelet straps, diamante embellished bezels and bold time markers which in some watches, display the Marc by Marc Jacobs lettering instead of numbers, these watches are feminine, striking and fun to wear with that highly stylish and youthful appeal.
If you like to add a splash of colour into your look with accessories, there are also a selection of Marc by Marc Jacobs watches which feature plastic transparent straps and incorporate vibrant colours such as turquoise and yellow or purple and blue. For something a little demure, the range also offers leather straps with diamante embellished bezels and sleek large round dials. To go even further with the fun element of his creations, some Marc by Marc watches even feature ghosts and hearts as the time markers!
The Marc by Marc Jacobs watch collection will definitely have a watch within the range that is sure to be on your wish list this season, and with the vast array of designs available, Marc Jacobs has kept the overall theme consistent; enabling each and every watch to convey a sense of high fashion, trend appeal, a fun and fresh attitude and of course, glamour, making these the perfect watches to instantly style up any outfit!

If Fossil were personified it would be intrepid, rugged, outdoorsy and free-spirited. Inspired by nature, vintage and wholesome American living, this laid back lifestyle brand appeals to those who don’t take high fashion too seriously and value comfort over glitz.
Although the Fossil label encompasses many things, it is perhaps their watches that we know them best for in the UK. You won’t find extortionate pricing and masses of bling in the Fossil watch collection, but you will find a breadth of choice and simple and fun styles.
There are Fossil watches for men and women. Fossil men’s watches err on the right side of chunky, with lots of brown leather, aluminium linked bracelet styles and textured fabric straps. The majority of the men’s collection looks outdoorsy and casual, however there are a few smart wristpieces. Examples include; Fossil Watch FS4156 – a sleek, highly polished aluminium style with a stand out black face and a single diamante stone at 12’o clock and Fossil Watch CH2602 – a good looking style with a mesh bracelet strap, a large round face with chunky detailing and a chronograph.
Designer Phillip Starck has also created wristwear exclusively for Fossil. The Crystal Starck Digital PH1100 showcases the first transparent LCD watch face and looks contemporary, innovative and very stylish.
Fossil watches for women are a blend of rugged and sophisticated. There are many pieces with thick brown leather straps, some with floral detailing and exposed stitching, delicate wristwatches in highly polished aluminium and gold plate and chunky bracelet styles in hardened polycarbonate with a smattering diamante.
Overall, Fossil watches offer lots of choice at exceptionally attractive prices and in this current climate that’s nothing to be sniffed at!

Welder watches can perhaps be described as the next generation of the U-Boats and are designed specifically for the guys, rated as incredibly stylish in the fashion industry and boasting strong, robust and aggressive looks. If you like your watch to make a statement then Welder watches are definitely an ideal choice and also make for a lifetime investment.
So what makes Welder watches, which are also placed within our Elite watch section, so unique and special? Firstly, you will immediately notice that Welder watches are larger than most in size – and vary from the moderate 48 mm in diameter K24 Welder watches to the incredible 53mm K29 watches. Secondly, Welder watches also feature left positioned crowns which are easy to access and with many people saying that they have found the left-hand crown to be more comfortable than the conventional right-handed crowns.
With ultra contemporary styling, Welder watches remain simple in tone with the exceptionally high quality and durable materials used (including high grade brushed stainless steel cases and rubber and leather straps), staying neutral in black, gold or silver tones. Pops of colour such as white, red or orange are incorporated into the dial which works to enhance the 3D layered effect and adds extra depth to the watch whilst keeping the aesthetic masculine, bold and strong.
With square and circular dials and chronograph and traditional time displays Welder watches perfectly combine the essence of the old meeting the modern; with the brand taking inspiration from historical watch making methods and fusing these with contemporary styling. Welder watches have a distinct sense of exclusivity as they represent the next progression from the unique design of the iconic U-boat watches and are immediately recognisable as Welder – an objective which is extremely difficult for modern watch brands to achieve due to the vast array on the market. If you are a wearer of a Welder watch, this conveys dynamic style status and an appreciation for only the finest quality!
Make sure you take a look at the whole collection of Welder watches as we have a wide range of models in each size category, ensuring that you find the perfect size and design. Welder watches are big news in both the fashion and tech industry and make the perfect watches for any guy who loves a masculine style with that elite and sought after finish!

When you are looking for the perfect watch and seeking a design that has a timeless appeal and can be worn year after year without looking ‘dated’, the desired watch can often be difficult to hunt out! Calvin Klein watches however are probably one of the most sleek, streamlined and versatile in the industry and typical of the Calvin Klein style, boast a clean and chic aesthetic allowing them to work with current trends and look equally great when worn as your main statement accessory.
There are some new designs to hit our Shade Station shelves, so let’s take a look at some of the one’s that have caught our eye!
Firstly, we have the Citified Calvin Klein watch for ladies. You won’t find a watch more sleek and sophisticated than this style with its slim black leather strap and long rectangular dial with minimal detailing – also displaying the ck logo. This watch will compliment any and every outfit regardless of how casual or dressed up and is a classic style that can also be incorporated to work with any trend.
Calvin Klein is famed as a designer for his passion of experimenting with shape and the Delight ladies watch is the perfect example of this with its double stranded bangle strap and bold oval dial. Again, the overall design is minimal and very ‘clean’ but the unique shape of the watch immediately makes it recognisable as Calvin Klein. This watch has elegance, sophistication and reflects a refined sense of style.
The aptly named Minimal Calvin Klein watch for men is an ultra versatile, streamlined and chic watch that would definitely compliment a polished and groomed look whilst also dressing up a more casual outfit. The mesh style stainless steel strap adds texture and definition to the simple aesthetic. A scaled down version of the same watch is also available in a ladies style.
For something that is a little more geared towards an evening watch, the Dress MOP ladies watch features a polished stainless steel strap with open square links and a petite square dial with a beautiful mother of pearl toned finish. This watch would perfectly add the finishing touch your little black dress as would the super cool Glam watch with its unique and contemporary dial!
As you can see, these new Calvin Klein watch styles are highly representative of the overall theme of the Calvin Klein brand with strong lines, clean and streamlined shapes and minimal, non-fussy detailing which make the watches statement but incredibly versatile. Sometimes, opting for a classic style is the best option when looking for an investment watch and these Calvin Klein watches will ensure you always look sharp and are created by a classic designer who is synonymous with exceptional quality and flawless style.

June 2010 has been uncharacteristically hot. Glastonbury this year was a scorcher, as was the Isle of Wight Festival and for the first time in years Wimbledon has enjoyed blazing heat and no interruption to play. All this sunshine makes for great celebrity sunglasses spotting!
Glastonbury had the usual mix of celebrities enjoying the hot weather and oozing festival cool. Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are still incredibly popular, with the likes of designer Henry Holland, T4 presenter Jameela Jamil and actresses Kate Hudson and Emma Watson all seen wearing them. Sting’s daughter Coco Sumner of ‘I blame Coco’ took to the stage in her Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses and Zoe Ball rocked the Ray Ban Aviator style. Flame-haired singer Kate Nash threw a curve ball and opted for Diesel Sunglasses in a similar style to the Wayfarer. This being the year of vintage sunglasses, it was unsurprising that celebs like Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, Marina and the Diamonds and Le Roux’s Elly Jackson were all seen sporting this unique style.
Off court Wimbledon has been more of dignified affair this year. With a rare visit from the Queen and an audience of sports stars including cricketer Brian Lara, Cyclist Chris Hoy and ex-England footballer Bobby Robson, we’ve had to look at the WAGs and the odd celeb for contemporary sunglasses style. Man of the moment, Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears is never at Wimbledon without her trusty Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. Actor Ben Stiller was also spotted in the stands wearing his Ray Ban Aviators, as was comedienne Jennifer Saunders in Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses. Slightly unusual Wimbledon sightings also included US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour in her unsual oversized black sunglasses framed by her sharp bob and whacky star Grace Jones, wearing white framed vintage looking sunglasses.
To emulate star style Shade Station have all the sunglasses you could possibly require! From the ever popular Ray Ban sunglasses, to oversized frames by designers such as Prada, Gucci, Pucci and Chanel. You can also indulge in some vintage action with our achingly cool range of Vintage sunglasses including styles from Dior, Ferre and La Croix.
BCBG Max Azria hit LA in a big way several years ago. Early adopters included fashionista’s Nicole Richie, Lauren Conrad and Lindsey Lohan. Seduced by BCBG’s vintage charms and beautiful clothes and accessories, young Hollywood helped Max Azria’s label become the fashion giant it is today.
BCBG Max Azria was founded in Paris in 1989. The BCBG – ‘Bon Chic, Bon Genre’ is a literal translation meaning ‘Good Style, Good Attitude’. Azria created the label to combine chic Parisian style with savvy American direction for women.
In 2009 BCBG Max Azria watches were introduced to the UK in order to celebrate 20 years in the fashion industry. The collection of eye catching watches proved a massive hit and the label have followed up on their success with a new BCBG Max Azria watches collection for 2010. Shade Station is proud to be stockist of the fresh, colourful, glitzy watches and would like to draw your eyes to a few stand-out pieces;
BCBG Max Azria Watch: Bauhaus
This is our favourite from 2009. We imagine ourselves as a tanned slinky 70s beauty in a silk draped cocktail dress and this beautiful vintage looking watch on our wrist. The leather strap is very slender and the round dial has an art deco feel. The white and gold colours look wonderful together and the whole piece is sophisticated and charming. The Bauhaus watch is also available in purple and gold, for those who prefer a richer palette.
BCBG Max Azria Watch: Purist
The Purist is new for 2010 and adds a bit of bling to the BCBG collection. With a pretty gold patterned face and a ring of twinkling diamante surrounding it, this watch looks lovely set on the white leather strap. More traditional types may prefer the black leather strap and stainless steel decoration.
BCBG Max Azria Watch: Elite
Not for the faint-hearted! The Elite comes in a range of brightly coloured lizard effect leather straps and features a large gold-plated square face with a round dial. The dial is embellished with a smattering of diamante which makes this style very much a ‘going-out’ watch!
BCBG Max Azria is definitely a brand to watch. With celebs on board and the label’s Creative Director recently welcomed into The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), BCBG Max Azria is taking the fashion world by storm.
