Nixon is represented by a host of big names, most notably in extreme sports and music. With Nixon teams established in the skating, surfing and snowboarding arenas, as well as brand representation within the music industry (the UK’s ‘Little Boots’, Mos Def and Santigold), the label has very much positioned itself at the intersection of urban cool.
Owning a Nixon watch will most definitely earn you style points among friends (and enemies). With all the mod cons, functionality and durability to boot, these watches are not only amazing to look at, but hard wearing and practical. Of course all this comes at a price, but can you put a price on style?! The Nixon wristwear collection ranges from a whopping £1,100 to a very reasonable £50. At the top end of the scale is the ‘The Ceramic Player’, a gloriously chunky, yet slick, white ceramic number with scratch resistant sapphire crystal, 3 hand Swiss movement and a face bedecked with jewels. We could see this little (big) beauty fit very comfortably on Mr T’s wrist in the new A-Team remake! At the very bottom is a completely contrasting wristwatch, with a no-fuss polyurethane strap available in a multitude of bright colours. Named ‘The Time Teller’, this Nixon watch is great for the 2010 summer colourful watch trend and cheap as chips too!
We cannot stress enough how great these Nixon watches are. Surely when your watch enters the room before you do, you know you’re onto something good!

Diesel ‘Be Stupid’ Ad Banned from Billboards
Diesel 'Be Stupid' Ad Banned from Billboards
Fashion label Diesel has always being notorious for its outspoken brand personality and ability to stand out from the crowd. However, it seems that Diesel may have gone a step too far with one of its recent advertising billboard campaigns which has now being banned from use.
The posters, which in fact, won a top award at the Cannes advertising festival, were banned due to the fear that they would encourage antisocial behaviour. The ads called ‘Be Stupid’ featured a woman flashing her breasts to a CCTV camera, and another of a woman opening her bikini bottoms to take a picture. We can certainly see why the ads have raised concern but you do have to admire Diesel’s bold attitude! The brand has stated that the ads were designed to convey “a very strong and unexpected image of femininity”.
However, luckily all i
s not lost and you can still see the ads for yourself as the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have allowed the ads to run in magazines including Grazia and Dazed & Confused but have banned them running on billboards as are of the view that they may be considered offensive and unsuitable for children in addition to potentially encouraging antisocial behaviour.
Whatever your opinion on the ad campaigns, one thing is for sure about Diesel; the brand is producing some amazing collections this season and in particular, the range of Diesel watches. The new styles are ultra stylish, slick and smart with some designs such as the unisex DZ1351 boasting a vibrant red finish and with that sporty but chic look that is one of the top watch trends of the moment but one that Diesel still manages to place its own dynamic stamp on. This watch style is also available in an array of other colours. The new DZ1343 for men has a similar style to the DZ1351 but with a brown leather strap and a square dial for a smart and slick finish and with the striking Diesel detailing on the dial.
The ‘Be Stupid’ Diesel ads may certainly be a little risqué but you have to admire the brand’s creative ability to dare to be different. Most importantly, Diesel always backs up its elaborate advertising campaigns with amazing products. DKNY watch NY4965
This is a striking, yet very simple watch in silver stainless steel. It is the wrist strap that makes it so special and unusual. The strap is made from rows of mesh stud detailing and the elegant rectangular face is framed by a thick piece of polished stainless steel. The white face displays the DKNY logo as well as the time!
DKNY watch 4933
Another sophisticated wristwatch, this time in gold plated stainless steel. The wristband is slim and styled with interesting intertwining locks and the dial is square with a thick gold frame encircling it. This style is also available with silver stainless steel and peppered with diamante.
DKNY watch 4913
This is the most expensive watch in the DKNY portfolio at £180 (reduced from £225 bargain hunters!) but it taps into the current trend for fairly flamboyant ceramic watches (think Toy and LTD watches). In black or white with a ceramic link strap, the face is round with gold detailing, 3 hand movement, a date window and a sub dial chronograph.
DKNY watches offer plenty of choice and are a great way to add a designer touch to an outfit whilst on a budget!

LTD Watches are made from polycarbonate material making them highly durable and robust. The more expensive range of LTD Watches are made from ceramic, which is hard-wearing, scratch resistant and very on trend.
Don’t get us wrong. With LTD Watches you are not buying a classic wristpiece that you’ll want to wear in years to come. The beauty is that these watches are seasonal. The designs are changed a couple of times a year and the colours refreshed. Frankly LTD watches are cheap enough that you can buy a new one every year if you wanted, however they are hard wearing and as such will last well beyond your fickle fancy!

Sizzling Celebrity Sunglasses Style
June 2010 has been uncharacteristically hot. Glastonbury this year was a scorcher, as was the Isle of Wight Festival and for the first time in years Wimbledon has enjoyed blazing heat and no interruption to play. All this sunshine makes for great celebrity sunglasses spotting!
Glastonbury had the usual mix of celebrities enjoying the hot weather and oozing festival cool. Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are still incredibly popular, with the likes of designer Henry Holland, T4 presenter Jameela Jamil and actresses Kate Hudson and Emma Watson all seen wearing them. Sting’s daughter Coco Sumner of ‘I blame Coco’ took to the stage in her Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses and Zoe Ball rocked the Ray Ban Aviator style. Flame-haired singer Kate Nash threw a curve ball and opted for Diesel Sunglasses in a similar style to the Wayfarer. This being the year of vintage sunglasses, it was unsurprising that celebs like Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, Marina and the Diamonds and Le Roux’s Elly Jackson were all seen sporting this unique style.
Off court Wimbledon has been more of dignified affair this year. With a rare visit from the Queen and an audience of sports stars including cricketer Brian Lara, Cyclist Chris Hoy and ex-England footballer Bobby Robson, we’ve had to look at the WAGs and the odd celeb for contemporary sunglasses style. Man of the moment, Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears is never at Wimbledon without her trusty Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses. Actor Ben Stiller was also spotted in the stands wearing his Ray Ban Aviators, as was comedienne Jennifer Saunders in Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses. Slightly unusual Wimbledon sightings also included US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour in her unsual oversized black sunglasses framed by her sharp bob and whacky star Grace Jones, wearing white framed vintage looking sunglasses.

BCBG Max Azria hit LA in a big way several years ago. Early adopters included fashionista’s Nicole Richie, Lauren Conrad and Lindsey Lohan. Seduced by BCBG’s vintage charms and beautiful clothes and accessories, young Hollywood helped Max Azria’s label become the fashion giant it is today.
BCBG Max Azria was founded in Paris in 1989. The BCBG – ‘Bon Chic, Bon Genre’ is a literal translation meaning ‘Good Style, Good Attitude’. Azria created the label to combine chic Parisian style with savvy American direction for women.
In 2009 BCBG Max Azria watches were introduced to the UK in order to celebrate 20 years in the fashion industry. The collection of eye catching watches proved a massive hit and the label have followed up on their success with a new BCBG Max Azria watches collection for 2010. BCBG Max Azria Watch: Bauhaus
This is our favourite from 2009. We imagine ourselves as a tanned slinky 70s beauty in a silk draped cocktail dress and this beautiful vintage looking watch on our wrist. The leather strap is very slender and the round dial has an art deco feel. The white and gold colours look wonderful together and the whole piece is sophisticated and charming. The Bauhaus watch is also available in purple and gold, for those who prefer a richer palette.
BCBG Max Azria Watch: Purist
The Purist is new for 2010 and adds a bit of bling to the BCBG collection. With a pretty gold patterned face and a ring of twinkling diamante surrounding it, this watch looks lovely set on the white leather strap. More traditional types may prefer the black leather strap and stainless steel decoration.
BCBG Max Azria Watch: Elite
Not for the faint-hearted! The Elite comes in a range of brightly coloured lizard effect leather straps and features a large gold-plated square face with a round dial. The dial is embellished with a smattering of diamante which makes this style very much a ‘going-out’ watch!
BCBG Max Azria is definitely a brand to watch. With celebs on board and the label’s Creative Director recently welcomed into The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), BCBG Max Azria is taking the fashion world by storm.
