They are renowned for their artistic designs and the ability to convey a classic and sophisticated look that shows a refined sense of style.
There are a couple of new BVLGARI styles to look out for this season; the first being the new BV6037 design, which in typical BVLGARI style, is oversized and features a striking off-gold toned frame which extends slightly outside of the lenses (a key trend seen on sunglasses over the past few seasons) and also curves inwards at the exterior edges to add shape and definition. The arms incorporate beautiful diamante hinge detailing which instantly injects an ultra feminine and elegant edge and the lenses are a soft graduated brown tone – perfect for spring and summer whereby you may prefer a lighter toned pair of sunglasses.
A further style to look out for is the exclusive BV8038B pair of BVLGARI sunglasses which again are oversized and feature a thick jet black frame and wide jet black arms with the prominent aesthetic feature being the bold diamante embellished version of the BVLGARI logo elaborately displayed across the length of the arm. This style is also available in brown and bronze tortoiseshell. A vast array of celebrities love the glamorous style of BVLGARI sunglasses – these including Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz, Tara Reid and Jennifer Aniston to name only a few. With a wide variety of coloured frames (including a selection of lighter toned styles for summer) and designs including oversized, visors and wraparounds, BVLRAGI is definitely the perfect brand choice if you want to add an instant element of dramatic Italian style to your look. Well it looks like the Queen of Pop has another big hit on her hands… Following her successful turn advertising Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring / Summer 2010 collection, Madonna has joined forces with the Italian duo to design and produce a portfolio of fabulous sunglasses. With a history of bold fashion choices and a popular collaboration with H&M, it’s unsurprising that the original Material Girl has chosen to venture further down the fashion path.
Available next month at Shade Station, the MDG sunglasses collection consists of 6 pairs of oversized sunglasses that have had both fashion people and journalists gushing.
It is the first time D&G have ever ‘co-branded’ a collection and it is testament to the strength of their relationship with Madonna, that she is the first. Of the alliance they said “Designing an eyewear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. The oversized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo.”
The MDG sunglasses bear both Madonna’s name and the MDG logo on each arm and are definitely one of the hottest brands to be seen in this summer. Of the six styles, three are classic Riviera style, with thick black frames in round, square and oval with dark lenses. There is an unusual pair with transparent red frames and mottled red and grey arms and the final two are more ‘matrix’ looking with a metal top bar and graduated lenses.
The hype around this first MDG Sunglasses collection is enormous and we can’t wait to get our sweaty hands on these knock out shades! We’re certain this range is going to go like hot cakes so to be sure you’re in Vogue this Summer keep a keen eye on Shade Station…

As a designer Marc Jacobs is renowned for his ultra chic yet daring and sometimes surprising approach to fashion. Particularly in America, Marc Jacobs is one of the most highly regarded, sought after and popular designers and this status has certainly transcended to a global level with the designer being iconic and favoured all over the world.
The style of Marc Jacobs fashion is very much of the tone that you can’t miss it – his creations are designed to be noticed, and this is definitely reflected at the twice yearly Fashion Weeks whereby Jacobs often stuns and dazzles the rows of fashion mavens with his eclectic but ultra sophisticated pieces and unpredictable creations. The mystique of Marc is also heightened with the use of unconventional choices of models used in his advertising campaigns including Charlotte Rampling, Dakota Fanning and Victoria Beckham.
The collection of Marc Jacobs sunglasses are a reflection of his general approach to fashion but are incredibly wearable and convey the wearer’s superior and refined taste of style. With a high-end finish, the designs range from the classically oversized MMJ127 to the dramatically oversized and new for this season MMJ153 sunglasses with their ultra slim frames and arms and vibrant and on-trend colour combinations. There are also a range of retro inspired oversized styles including the MMJ160 sunglasses and the MMJ132 aviator design.
Colour and pattern is a huge theme behind the designer’s work which is also represented in the Marc Jacobs sunglasses collection. Some sunglasses are bolder than others – a great example of this is the MMJ155 style which is reminiscent of the iconic Wayfarer with a black and white cloud patterned frame and arms. This is a fun and youthful style and reflects Jacob’s playful attitude towards fashion. Other frames also include colour and pattern but have a super chic finish which is perfect for adding a high fashion edge but vibrant element to your look.
Fashion is exciting and it should be a fun way of adding the spirit of your own personality into your look. Marc Jacobs perfectly achieves this with his range of sunglasses which capture the balance of being exciting and light-hearted whilst remaining wonderfully sophisticated, super trendy and stylish. Combining patterns, prints and colours is a key trend of 2010 and a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses will not only allow you to work the trend into your look, but the individuality of each design will see you through numerous seasons to come in flawless and striking style.

The trends for tribal necklaces, enormous bracelets, crazy earrings and statement bling come and go, but classic silver jewellery will always be in fashion. Nothing screams understated chic quite like a slim silver bracelet, drop earrings or a thin silver chain and Calvin Klein knows only too well. Like the rest of his all-American portfolio, his jewellery collection is tasteful, timeless and elegant.
If you’re already familiar with Calvin Klein watches, you’ll notice that parallels can be drawn between CK watches and CK jewellery. There are lots of smooth curves, similar shaped bracelets and an expanse of highly polished stainless steel. Within the Calvin Klein jewellery collection there are flashes of muted colour, mainly in the design of the large chunky rings and aside from some black onyx and swarovski crystal, the majority of the pieces are largely highly polished stainless steel.
Although most of the collection is designed for women there are a few simple, solid looking rings for men, with the CK logo discreetly imprinted at the bottom. Ladies with classic taste will be enchanted with the choice. The highlights among the Calvin Klein jewellery range include;
- ‘Elipse’ Earrings – A beautiful silver teardrop design.
- ‘Elipse’ Bangle – Two connecting silver bangles with a row of black onyx or frosted glass imbedded within the lower bangle.
- ‘Glint 2 row’ Bangle – A simple bangle with a double row of sparkling square swarovski crystals
- ‘Thin’ – An elegant sweeping bangle that is thinner one side and slightly fatter the other
Calvin Klein jewellery is by no means exclusive. Each piece is individually priced and ranges from £34 up to £102. All of the pieces make wonderful gifts or why not treat yourself for being utterly fabulous!

LTD Watches is the brand that literally burst onto the fashion scene in 2009 and is already a favourite among numerous celebs including Calvin Harris, Jordan Thomas, The Saturdays and Dizzee Rascal.

If black isn’t your thing and you prefer a more colour inspired version there are also other vibrant colours in the offering including hot pink, purple, yellow, white and this season’s trend inspired pastel grey. For a watch of this unique style and function the £65 price tag allows you to really express your personal style (that won’t be seen on 100’s of other people!) at an affordable price. Who said exclusive meant expensive?!

You might just be able to get away with it if you’re an A-lister, but anyone lower down in the celebrity alphabet than that and you’re pushing it. Despite what you think, wearing sunglasses in inappropriate places is just not cool. No matter how effortless and care-free you think you look, you don’t. Don’t be fooled by passersby staring at you, they are not jealous of your understated style, they are probably weighing up how much of a try-hard you are on a scale of 1 – 10. A little harsh you may think, but you’ve got to be cruel to be kind.
However there are, as with any set of unspoken fashion rules, loopholes in the debate of when and where sunglasses suffice (when it’s not actually sunny). For example, if you have a headache, sunglasses can stop the glaring daylight pouring into your peepers. Other acceptable reasons include when you’re harbouring a hangover, driving, in mourning or on your holidays. The following locations on the other hand, are not the right places to be shading your eyes…
On the tube – there is no natural light, you look ridiculous.
In a nightclub – even worse than the tube, you shouldn’t have even been let in.
In the dark – it’s nighttime, it’s pitch black, the only explanation is you can’t find the mirror.
On a date – all very well if you’re going alfresco but eye contact is an important part of connecting. Lose that and you’ll lose out.
In work – it’s not big, it’s not clever and it’s certainly not professional.
In bed – don’t do it…ever.
But it’s not only the everyday folk who lose their way when it comes to the who, what, where and why of sunglasses. Celeb’s including Mariah Carey, Usher, P.Diddy, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Paris Hilton, Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell, the Beckhams, the Olsens and Bono have all become victim to taking their sunglasses addiction a tad too far, wearing them at launch parties, award ceremonies, gallery openings, press conferences and basketball games. They might be hoping it makes them more inconspicuous, but anyone wearing sunglasses inside is going to find blending into the background a challenge. So if you’d rather not be the talked-about focal point (for all the wrong reasons) let this be a warning to you – when the sun goes down, the shades must come off!

Jee Vice is the brand of Carrie’s choice in addition to the favourite of Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte who all rock their Jee Vice shades in various scenes throughout the movie. Iconic fashion Queen Carrie opted for a pair of the orange ‘Heatead’ sunglasses whilst Miranda complemented her feisty personality with a pair of the ‘Sexy’ shades. Samantha very appropriately went for a pair of the deep purple ‘Red Hot’ Jee Vice sunglasses and we’re yet to see which style in the extensive collection Charlotte chose but we have been assured that Jee Vice was the ultimate brand to be seen in on-set!

As you may have seen, we recently launched our Elite watch section which includes the ultra sophisticated, stylish and functional TechnoMarine watches.
If you like what you have seen so far from TechnoMarine then you will be pleased to know that a further collection within the range is due to be launched named the Cruise Sport collection which was unveiled at Baselworld 2010 – the world’s leading watch and jewellery exhibition.
The existing and varied TechnoMarine Cruise collections have really placed the brand on the map with their fun, flirty vibrantly coloured designs and the unique material combination of diamond and plastic. The Cruise watches quickly became the hottest watches to be seen wearing and now the latest Cruise Sport collection takes that to the next level but with a slightly different and more understated tone of style.
The TechnoMarine Cruise Sport collection is a revamped interpretation of the signature Cruise collection with a streamlined aesthetic that is perhaps a little less elaborate and without any embellishments but equally striking and boasting a strong and fierce presence!
The strap is made from silicone which has a softer finish and is more flexible upon the wrist and the TechnoMarine Cruise Sport watches are water resistant up to 200m. Available in a chronograph or 3-hand style, the new watches feature a re-designed bezel which is smoother and sleeker. The dial hands are wider to convey the essence of a strong sense of purpose and the re-envisioned 3D dial has a new depth and added definition which is testament to TechnoMarine’s superior technical innovation.
In terms of aesthetic style, the Cruise Sport has a stealth-like black finish which is effectively enhanced by subtle pops of colour featured in the bezel, minute hand and tachymeter which include purposely selected shades of white, blue, fuchsia, green, and orange. These colours are specifically chosen to signify and convey the brand’s invigorating ‘live for the moment’ and adventurous attitude whilst also of course allowing the watches to transcend through seasonal trends, climates and occasions. The new TechnoMarine Cruise watches look equally amazing at sea on a diving adventure as they do in the boardroom or dressed up for a chic evening out at the finest restaurant in town and also possess the incredible function and quality to support the immaculate, streamlined and sophisticated style.
The new TechnoMarine Cruise Sport collection is a further reminder of how the brand has successfully placed itself at the forefront of watch innovation, design and style. The collection will be available in June (we’ll be sure to let you know when!) and we just know that they are guaranteed to impress!
