New Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses – Designed by Snowboarder Shaun White

We all know that Oakley is famous for its sponsorship of world class athletes which also helps the brand establish what the sports industry requires from its products. We can now share that one of these athletes has used his style creativity to help design a unique pair of Oakley sunglasses!
Gold medal winner Shaun White is what can be described as a bit of a rocker in the world of snowboarding and has been a core athlete within the Oakley brand for over ten years – also known for his love of street fashion. Transcending his skills on the slopes to the design board, Oakley has teamed up with Shaun and the result is a new pair of incredibly cool Oakley sunglasses called Holbrook.
Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses Designed By Shuan White
In designing the new Holbrook sunglasses, Shaun (pictured) took inspiration from his passion for iconic male film legends of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s and wanted to capture the essence of American cool and how everyday men rebelled against conformity and inspired the younger generation. The Holbrook sunglasses are his visualisation of that theme and are named after a small town on Route 66 which is notorious of being a town where both grit and glory take place on the wide open road.
In terms of style, the Oakley Holbrook sunglasses boast the classic retro look that Shaun wanted to achieve, with thick frames, arms which begin from the top of the frame and large, defined lenses. In true Oakley style, the sunglasses perfectly combine that vintage appeal with contemporary and innovative technologies!
The Holbrook sunglasses feature a stress-resistant frame made of the signature Oakley lightweight synthetic O Matter and are aesthetically emphasised with metal bolts at the top corners of the frames to add to the ‘gritty’ style. U-Boat Watch Focus: The Classico U-1001

When it comes to elite watches, you can’t get much more elite than the spectacular U-Boat watches. There are a number of collections within the U-Boat range and one of which; the Classico U-1001 can definitely be described as the crème de la crème of luxury watches.

Oakley is one of the biggest sunglass companies in the world. With a history of technological innovation in the eyewear industry, they are the brand of choice for most professional and amateur sportsmen and women. In the height of the fashionable Eighties, Oakley released a style of sunglasses to rival the popularity of the Ray Ban Wayfarer and Clubmaster. We all know that pop diva and actress Madonna has always been a huge fan of the Italian Dolce & Gabbana brand and also has a strong friendship with the two designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana; the creative brains behind the iconic label. The designers have often used Madonna in their advertising campaigns, including the latest spring campaign and have even designed pieces using her look and ambitious personality as the main inspiration. Madonna has a classic and sophisticated but edgy style and isn’t afraid to experiment with different looks which Dolce & Gabbana have always admired.
We didn’t think it would be long before Madonna and Dolce & Gabbana teamed up to create their own collection and now we are very excited to announce that the trio have taken their fashion relationship to the next l
evel by collaborating on a new sunglasses collection called MDG Madonna For Dolce & Gabbana which will soon arrive at Shade Station!
Madonna has taken an active role in the design process and was clear about how she wanted the shape of the frames and even the logo designed (we love how she has made sure her initial is first!).
The collection comprises of a six piece range of oversized and wraparound styles, all of which are sleek, sexy and feminine and representative of Madonna’s personal chic style and in keeping with the overall look of the Dolce & Gabbana brand. U-Boat Watches -The Very First Black Titanium Watch

Hot off the Press this week is the first of its kind, a black titanium watch from U-Boat watches. Unique to the watch world, this 52mm black titanium U-boat watch weighs just 179g and is waterproof up to 200m. Titanium has the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal and is resistant to corrosion. This makes it a very useful material in the design of water-resistant products, like watches designed for scuba diving and other water based activities. Due to the extreme pressures the watch may be subjected to at 200m below sea-level, the exhibition glass displaying the watch movement has been reduced in size, to just show the balance wheel.
The ‘52mm’ refers to the width of the watch face – U-Boat watches range in size from 45mm to 55mm. The label is famed for producing oversized wristwear with a utilitarian, sturdy and surprisingly sexy appearance. They are also known for placing the crown and chronograph pushers to the left of the watch so as not to obstruct movement and to offer more security – known in U-Boat speak as the ‘left hook’. The ‘52mm’ black titanium hottie uses Valjoux Movement (that’s Swiss-made chronograph movement to the uninformed among us) and has a power reserve of 44 hours at 28,800 alternations per hour.
U-Boat watches have an interesting heritage. Although the company was created in the 1940s to produce precision watches for pilots, only one batch of watches made it out the factory, due to the Second World War. It wasn’t until 1999 that the grandson of the creator, Italo Fontana, resurrected the company and began designing high calibre watches, for the sports and luxury markets.
U-Boat watches have a distinct nautical-military style, that wouldn’t look amiss on the arm of a suave looking man of action. Their watches are built for the outdoors but lend themselves stylishly to more comfortable, glamorous surroundings. For instance U-Boat watches have been the official sponsors of the American Grammy Awards in the past and celebrity fans include action men Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sly Stallone.
