The future of time from Tokyo Flash watches.
This New Year the only light show worth seeing is on the ‘Oh so hip’ collection of Tokyo Flash Watch face’s. Straight out of techy digital heaven comes a clutch of arm candy set to make any man weep with joy…
The idea behind these innovative watches is to ‘change the way you think about time’ with a futuristic time-telling concept. Using Light Emitting Diode’s (LED) in a variety of patterns, Tokyo Flash challenges the wearer to a mental workout when reading the fascia of the watch, in doing so the company has also created a secret club in which only the owners of these timepieces know how to read the time on their wrist.
In a nod to the future and to embrace individuality Tokyo Flash Watches have largely disposed with numerals and instead use a matrix of punched out holes, which are illuminated with LED’s to display the time. The pattern varies between watches, for instance the more cutting-edge ‘Oberon’ has a number of rings to tell the time, with rings representing hours and minutes and the ‘Shinshoku’ has a series of multicoloured holes with each colour again representing a period of time. The Pimp Star Performer and Pimp Pusher are slightly more traditional in their use of number’s, however the twist is the four vertical rows of digits that light up in white and blue to display the time.
