Michael Kors began his career in fashion at the age of 19 designing and merchandising a collection for the renowned boutique Lothar's in New York City. The success of these clothes caught the attention of the fashion press, prompting Kors to strike out on his own. In 1981 the Michael Kors label was formed; his first women's collection was launched at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, among other stores. Since his collection was established, it has never strayed from Kors' initial vision of chic, luxurious American sportswear.

Michael Kor was born in 1959 in a local town long island based in New York. Michael Kor started his career by designing clothes at the age of 19. He then went on to study fashion and design at the fashion institute of technology in New York. In 1981 he launched Michael Kors womenswear line. Building on the success of the women's line, Michael Kor was named the first ever women's ready to wear designer and creative director for the French fashion house Celine in 1997. Michael Kor worked here for a few years but in 0ctober 2003 decided to leave so that he could concentrate on his own brand and then went on to launch his own menswear brand. Further to this Michael Kor' then expanded to runway collection Michael Michael Kor, which was then launched in 2004.
The Michael Kor line includes women's handbags, shoes and the women's ready to wear line. Michael Kor is always expanding and has several collection boutiques in areas such as New York, Las Vegas, Beverley Hills and many more. Michael Kor watches has a very large celebrity fan base, include Jenifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta Jones and Heidi Klum.
