If you're over the age of 20, the label Guess will hold some sway with you. You will know their clothes and accessories are glamorous, sexy, beautiful and all American. You will also know that Guess were responsible for producing the world's first 'designer' jeans. Since it's birth in the early Eighties, Guess had been seducing men and women the world over.

Guess - The emblem

Guess was a huge deal in the Eighties and early Nineties and having been embraced by the younger generation in the Noughties remains a leading contender today. Every item Guess sells, whether it be a pair of jeans, a wrist watch, sunglasses or perfume, will come stamped with the iconic Guess emblem - an inverted triangle with a red border and a red question mark inside.

Guess - The girls

Guess is a brand that has marketed itself extremely well. They have always had a strong campaign and a unique vision. Most men will be able to reel off a list of famous, beautiful faces Guess have used to promote their label and most women too, simply because the adverts have appealed across the board.
Guess adverts always have one thing in common, a gorgeous girl. The positions, facial expressions and locations have differed, but the models have always remained stunning. Famous Guess girls include, Anna Nicole Smith, Claudia Schiffer, Karen Mulder, Drew Barrymore, Naomi Campbell, Milla Jovovich, to name only a handful - the list is endless. Whether they have been smouldering, seductive, girl-next-door or coy, men fancy them and girls want to be like them. That is the Guess Appeal.

Guess - The History

The company was born of a band of brothers, The Marciano Brothers. Originally from Morocco, they grew up in France and moved to California at the end of the Seventies. By the early Eighties they had persuaded Bloomingdale's in New York to stock their famous '3-zip Marilyn' jeans, which effectively launched their path to superstardom.
In 1984 the four brothers released their first of many watch lines 'Guess', 'Guess Steel' and 'Guess Collection'. In fact jeans and timepieces were integral to the success of the brand, whilst other lines such as menswear and 'home' struggled to find popularity, both denim and wristwear weathered the storms and constantly proved popular with the consumer market.
In 2004 Guess celebrated 20 years of producing and selling watches and to mark the occasion released a celebratory special addition watch. In the same year the company expanded upon it's fashionable wristwear and created a high-end collection to appeal to the luxury market.
