The pattern that swirls on the watch eventually runs out. I think my first one lasted about six months. I presume it's the battery. The watch continues working, and the 'face' that was swirling is still v nice even if it stops swirling. I bought a new one with birthday money to replace the old one, as I like the swirling. Only reason it gets a '4' for quality instead of a '5'
